It’s official: ABC has officially picked up Girl Meets World which means more Cory and Topanga on our TV screens!
One second. Sorry, just needed that wave of nostalgia to pass momentarily.
Boy Meets World’s Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fisher) will return in the new series that will focus on the life of their daughter Riley ( 10-year-old Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).
The show will take place in New York where Cory and Topanga’s daughter is currently attending middle school. This is the same middle school where Cory is working as a history teacher, according to USAToday. In perfect Topanga-fashion, she’s doing something off-beat as she owns an after-school gathering place where pudding is their specialty.
The spin-off was created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, the minds behind Boy Meets World. Production of Girl Meets World is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles.
An official release date has not disclosed but it is scheduled to premiere in 2014 so stay tuned. You do not want to miss this.
ANDPOP has been on the development of this show since it was first announced, so naturally we counted down greatest moments and other aspects of our favourite Disney show Boy Meets World.

When it comes to television show theme songs, they’re just not what they used to be. There are a few shows out there today that offers a theme song that just sticks in your head. In the 90′s, though, there’s no shortage of amazing television theme songs.
From The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to 90210, here are 10 shows that constantly had us humming their intros through the ’90′s:
Friends
Friends probably has one of the most iconic theme songs. Did anyone else try to always clap at the exact same time? This could’ve been just me.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Hands down the most covered to this day is Will Smith’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap. Most recently, Will got Alfonso Ribeiro and DJ Jazzy Jeff together while in London with his son Jaden for this little reunion.
Boy Meets World
Well here’s a random piece of information.
Did you know that Danielle Fischel (aka Topanga Lawrence) took former ‘N Sync-er Lance Bass to prom?
Well, she did. And the photo evidence here is ’90s gold!
It was back in the year of 1999 when Fischel was a senior in high school and was dating Bass. But because he was in one of the biggest boy bands at the time, he had to decline her first request to prom because he was on tour.
But then a week later, Fischel says Bass sent her “three dozen roses in the mail with a card that said, ‘Plans have changed, I’ll be in town. Can I take you to prom? Check yes or no.’ And there were two little boxes!”
Obviously taking the opportunity, Fischel checked ‘Yes’ and the two spent the night dancing away. I imagine that it felt just like a fairy tale.
The “Boy Meets World” actress posted the adorable prom photo on Twitter with the caption, “Pics or it didn’t happen,” to which Bass responded, “Wow! He sounds so romantic!! Xoxo.”
CUTE!!!
Now of course, we’re familiar that Bass said he was gay in 2006, but he still wins PROM KING IN MY EYES!!
“Shipping” has become prominent in television and film viewing nowadays. Almost all couples (and even non-couples) are labeled with conjoined names (I.e Romione, Klaine, Delena). With blogging and fanfiction, shipping has taken the media by storm. It breaks the servers of websites hosting polls on best pairings, and even influences writers. In fact, Ryan Murphy addresses shippers explicity on Glee as characters refer to their ship names. Principal Figgins actually called Rachel and Finn, “Finchel” and characters continually refer to their fan base as Brittany addressed how lesbian bloggers might not like her being with Sam.
Looking back on old shows, you will realize we were all shipping before it became it became a thing on the internet. There were couples (especially on much beloved Disney shows) where in our eyes, the whole show centered around two characters that had to be together. There was no possibility Lizzie was going to end up with any guy who she dated, because she was meant to be with Gordo. Phil could not go to the future before he confessed his love for Keely.
There are so many pairings that were meant to be in our eyes. We shipped them, and we shipped them hard.
Take a trip back to look at characters from your childhood that you definitely shipped
Lizzie & Gordo (Lizzie McGuire)
Over the course of Lizzie McGuire we saw Lizzie through multiple and awful relationships. Gordo was the one constant in all her relationships, the one who would bring her back up again after yet another guy knocked her down. Lizzie didn’t always know Gordo loved her, but we did, and that is why we will never forget when they finally kissed in the movie. Poor Gordo, that only took a few seasons to happen…
Helga & Arnold (Hey Arnold)
Even though Helga is considered to be psycho, and her romance with Arnold is in her head, their relationship is pretty endearing. She will go to great lengths to help out Arnold, and if thats not love, then what is?
Keeley & Phil (Phil of the Future)
There was never a question Keeley and Phil were meant to be together. Whenever one had a potential love interest, the other became extremely tense and obviously jealous. Even though we wanted Keeley to mind her own business and not find out Phil was from the future, Keeley loved him all the same after she found out. True love is dating someone with four toes.
Zoey & Chase (Zoey 101)
Although we all knew Chase only had eyes for Zoey from the first episode when he fell of a bike to get a good look at her, we didn’t know if Zoey would reciprocate his feelings. It was only until Chase got a girlfriend of his own did Zooey realize she liked him — typical. Although Chase chased (ha!) Zoey when she changed boarding schools not realizing Zoey stayed at Pacific Coast Academy, the two finally got to be together in what might have been the best Disney Channel finale of all time.

The much anticipated Girl Meets World is the bearer of more good news.
We already know Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles, and that Rowan Blanchard has already been cast as their daughter Riley. What we didn’t know, was that Cory and Topanga will also have a son.
TVLine reports that Teo Halm is casted as the pairs son, Elliott. I wonder if Elliott will be similar to Cory’s siblings. Will Elliott be like Eric or Morgan? I guess we will have to wait to see.
The more Boy Meets World spinoff news we get, the more I can’t wait to see Cory, Topanga, and the gang on my screen. Just imagine all the disciplining Cory is going to do, and all the times HIS parents will look at him and remind him what he was like as a child. Without a doubt, I expect a lot of great Boy Meets World references from the spinoff.
I also want to see Uncle Eric and Uncle Shawn. No shame.
Here is Teo Halm, the face of Cory and Topanga’s son. Do you think he accurately represents what the pairs son would look like?

We asked ourselves that same question, so we decided to do a baby morph to see what their baby would look like.
Now that you have seen who has been casted versus the undeniably accurate medical representation of what Cory and Topanga’s offspring would look like, it is up to you to decide.
Looking at the pictures, it looks like the nose, eyes, ears, and jaw line are all pretty accurate.
Casting: you’re doing it right.
The best relationships aren’t always romantic. Through film, television and literature, we as viewers and readers have come to understand the value of a great bromance. When two bros care about one another, continuously confide in and help guide each other, it is considered a bromance. Okay…by most of the internet it is considered something else, but that is another story entirely.
A story is not complete without a pair of bro’s looking out for one another and vying for each others success. One of the greatest real-life bromances of all time in my opinion is the one between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Remember when the two won the Oscar together for the script of Good Will Hunting? If you don’t, go YouTube it, because it was adorable.

Other pairs that come to mind when I think of bromances include Frodo and Sam, and Merry and Pippin from Lord Of the Rings. Those who climb trees together and go to Mordor together are bros for life. One does not simply go to Mordor without their bro, durh.
ANDPOP has compiled a list of the 7 best bromances of all time for you and your wild imagination (talking to all you shippers out there).
Cory and Shawn (Boy Meets World)
Nothing beats this bromance that lasted a lifetime. Cory and Shawn have been bro’s throughout their schooling and into their adult lives. Their handshakes, heart to hearts, and epic schemes, place them high on this list of best bromances. Their friendship is one for the decades as they have taught us what it truly means to be a good friend. To love and protect always without judgement.

All us 90′s kids were filled with excitement (and possibly a little dread) when we heard that Boy Meets World‘s creator Michael Jacobs was going forward with the show’s spin-off, Girl Meets World. Something tells me that the majority of the people who will watch this show will be nostalgic 20-30 year olds, opposed to the target pre-teen audiences. Who’s complaining? Not me.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will resume roles their roles as Cory and Topanga, parents to Riley Mathews, as played by 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard. Her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) has been casted as Riley’s best friend.
Jacob’s told Entertainment Weekly the show will follow Riley as she struggles to grow up and yes, we can expect to see some familiar faces. By the way, I just might die when Uncle Eric shows up… or even Uncle Shawn for that matter. Jacobs also mentioned that Riley will be more like one parent than the other, however traits of the other parent will kick in every now and then.

Jacobs also let it spill that Cory and Topanga will still not be perfect and will struggle with their relationship every now and then. I am seriously excited for more Cory/Topanga cuteness and hilarity.

Let’s be real – we all just want to see Mr. Feeny have to endure teaching another Matthews. Did we really believe Feeny would retire?
To get you all excited about Girl Meets World filming the pilot this month, I bring to you the 12 best moments of Boy Meets World.

Everyone remember the catchy Boy Meet’s World theme song? Here’s “Anne Hathaway” singing the adapted theme song for the spin off “Girl Meet’s World.”
For some reason I feel this “Anne Hathaway” may not earn an Oscar for this heart wrenching performance – she will however earn a few laughs.
In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Cory and Topanga will join Girl Meets World and Chris Brown fans get a little out of hand on Twitter.
HIT: Cory and Topanga Officially Join Boy Meets World Spinoff

Ben Savage (a.k.a. Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga) have officially confirmed that they will be involved in Girl Meets World. As a long time fan (my family has most of Boy Meets World on DVD), there are a couple things I would like to see: Mr. Feeny, the crazy version of Cory’s older brother Eric (circa the college years), and Mr. Feeny. Unfortunately for Shawn Hunter fans, Rider Strong confirmed on his website that he will not be part of the new series. (As of now, anyways. There’s still time!)
MISS: Twitter Death Threats Post-Chris Brown Twitter Account Deletion

Since I’ve already discussed my feelings towards Chris Brown here, I’d like to point out another thing that bothered me about the whole Chris Brown debacle: the resulting death threats from Team Breezy to comedian Jenny Johnson. While it’s not something that only plagues the Chris Brown fanbase, it is the most recent flurry of despicable internet behavior. Just because one’s favourite figure has done something (in this case, Brown quitting Twitter) doesn’t give anyone the right to be sending messages to whomever is being accused of causing that action (Johnson). We also must remember the difference between criticism and pure, unadulterated hatred. The internet can be wonderful with its cats but can turn very dark and vitriolic as we’ve seen countless of times in the case of online bully. So, dear internet readers, let’s try to think before we tweet death threats even if they’re supposedly “meaningless” because, let’s face it, they never are.
HIT: Liz and Dick Twitter Jokes
While one half of the Twitter population was going nuts over Chris Brown, the other half tried to stoically the Lifetime movie Liz and Dick starring Lindsay Lohan. Again, I did say try but it didn’t take long for a flurry of tweets to reach my phone alerting me to how bad Liz and Dick was. Between the tweets and this montage of the movie’s worst lines, it may just be 2012’s answer to The Room. Considering The Room’s cult success (there’s a movie theatre in Ottawa that plays it at least once a month), being bad isn’t a terrible thing. While Lohan may be further away from an Oscar than ever before, she is one step closer to being a phenomenon (if we don’t count her reoccurring tabloid roles, that is).

The Canadian and British collide

If you’re one of the lucky Beliebers going to Justin Bieber’s Believe Tour, be aware that the boys from The Wanted will be on the road with the Biebs in NYC and Toronto. This isn’t the first time the guys have performed together either. I wouldn’t wanna miss this if I was you. [thewantedblog]
New tats for Demi

Demi Lovato isn’t shy when it comes to tattoos. Recently she got a flock of birds tattooed on her arm, courtesy of Kat Von D. She tweeted: “Thank you so much @thekatvond for my new ink!! I think it’s beautiful and I love it!!” Do you have a tattoo you are dying to get? [herhealingheart]

When you think about the 80s and 90s you probably think of shoulder pads, big hair, mullets and guys with frosted tips (ick). I think we can all agree none of these beauty trends should EVER make a comeback. Still, the decade gave us a lot of great TV shows and with the latest news of a Boy Meets World reboot, it’s time to take out your scrunchies and crop tops and get a little nostalgic.
What shows would you like to see return?
Here are 10 shows from the 80s and 90s that need a reunion:
Blossom
Blossom jumpstarted Joey Lawrence’s music career (I still have the cassette), along with Mayim Bialik’s acting career. She now plays Amy Farrah Fowler on the Big Bang Theory. The fact that she gave the world “WOAH!” is all I need to know. If this Old Navy Blossom commercial is any indication, a reunion would be like old times.
Freaks and Geeks
High school isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be, which is why Judd Apatow knew what he took on Freaks and Geeks. Focusing on timeless issues like bullying and peer pressure, a reboot of this show would restonate with today’s teens. The show launched the careers of Jason Segel who now plays Marshall on How I met your Mother, Seth Rogen and James “I Can Do Everything” Franco (both also starred in Pineapple Express), Linda Cardellini who was in ER for seven seasons and the adorkable John Francis Daley, who plays Dr. Sweets in Bones.
My So Called Life
Before becoming a CIA agent in Homeland, Claire Danes was a regular 15-year-old dealing with the ups and downs of being young in My so Called Life. Like Freaks and Geeks, this show dealt with many timeless topics, which is why a comeback would still resonate with teens. Another notable career that was launched was Jared Leto, who not only continued acting but even went on to produce, direct, and play front-man to rock band 30 Seconds to Mars. Unfortunately, like Freaks and Geeks the show was also cancelled early and went on to become a cult classic.
Full House
After saying goodbye to the Tanners in 1995, the Olsen twins became more popular than overalls. They went on to star in Two of a Kind (Not gonna lie, I really liked that show) and A LOT of movies. There’s no question how high in demand they became. Today they are big names in fashion. Some of the best scenes in Full House came courtesy of Michelle and TV’s coolest uncle, Jesse. Like this gem, where we are taught how NOT to change a diaper.

Kids of the ’90s, prepare to celebrate.
Because word on the street is, Disney’s in early talks to develop a remake of Boy Meets World , the classic coming-of-age sitcom that melted our hearts between 1993 and 2001.
According to TVLine, The Disney Channel is planning on a sequel series called, Girl Meets World, which will focus on the pre-teen daughter of Cory and Topanga (aka BEST COUPLE EVER). And because the show is only at its early stages, sources are saying that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles!! However, no word yet on whether Cory’s best friend Shawn (Rider Strong) or brother Eric (Will Friedle) will be coming back.
Fans of the show will remember the couple getting married during the college years and moving to New York City so Topanga can live out her dream of being a lawyer. And while her and Cory may already have a happy-ever-after, it’ll be awesome to see what their daughter will be like!!
What do you think?? Personally, the 90s kid in me is freaking out with excitement. So for good measure, here’s the theme song!

If you’re a male in your early-to-mid 20s, I’m about to solve a mystery that has undoubtedly crossed your mind at least a couple times in the past few years.
Whatever happened to Danielle Fishel – the actress who played Topanga in Boy Meets World and the object of your affection?
For seven years, you watched her every week opposite Cory Matthews, the nerdy fellow who had no business dating, nor marrying, her. Then, Boy Meets World went off the air and Fishel was never heard from again.
So, Danielle, where did you go?
“I decided to take quite a bit of time off when Boy Meets World ended,” Fishel, 26, tells andPOP.
“I wanted a normal life. I just wanted to hang out with my friends and hang out with my family.”
She has appeared in a few projects in recent years, but it’s no surprise that this comes as news to you when you consider the projects. Fishel had a role in National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze, which was about as popular as Steven Segal’s CDs (he actually has some, look it up). She is also a correspondent on Tyra Bank’s talk show, which for some reason isn’t marketed towards the male audience (despite stuff like this).
She took a break from acting at age 19, but when she wanted to return two years later (“I just started to miss it,” she says. “Acting is in my blood.”), the roles weren’t waiting for her.
“If I really wanted to jump into movies [when Boy Meets World ended], I could have done a lot of different films. At that point in time, a lot of people wanted to offer me a lot of different movie roles and I turned all of them down,” she says. “At this stage, there are so many other people that movie parts are being offered to.”
It’s an even bigger challenge to find work because Fishel isn’t willing to compromise her integrity just for the sake of being in front of a camera.
“There’s a whole lot of crap out there,” Fishel explains. “I have to really like something I’m working on. I don’t feel the need to work for the sake of working. I’d rather not do it.”
Like any actor coming off a hit show that lasted so long, Fishel is finding that casting directors can’t see past her famous role.
“People still see me as Topanga,” she says. “It’s not like I look different. I look the exact same as I did when I was 12.” So she recently took some steps to try to change people’s perceptions. “I lost 25 pounds and died my hair brunette, so I’m hoping that takes people out of seeing me the way they saw me for so many years.”
Fishel can now be seen in a project that is actually on your radar, especially if you are a gaming fan. Game Box 1.0 was released last month on DVD. It was shot about three years ago, but has only now found its way to you.
A video game product tester, Charlie Nash (actor Nate Richert, the boyfriend in Sabrina the Teenage Witch), is having a hard time getting over the death of his girlfriend Kate, played by Fishel. Nash is sent a new system to try, unlike any he has even played. He soon finds himself as a character in one of the games, and there’s no apparent way out of this virtual world. While trying to find a way to survive, he saves a girl named Princess who bears a striking resemblance to Kate (she’s also played by Fishel).
Half the film actually takes place in the setting of a video game. That meant Fishel spent three weeks straight, 16-to-18 hour days, shooting on an all-green set (think of a green screen; now think of green screens plastered all over your walls and floors).
“I grew up playing Super Mario Brothers and the whole goal of that game was to rescue the princess, so when [directors] David and Scott Hillenbrand came to me with this idea that I thought was so different and such a unique experience and a once in a lifetime opportunity, I couldn’t pass it up,” she says.
Shooting in front of the green screen was part of the appeal, though she says the process was exhausting.
An even bigger challenge was when she stepped into the role of Princess.
“Video game characters don’t have that many facial expressions,” she says, “so I couldn’t use my face. Every emotion I had to portray I had to get in using my eyes. I happen to be a very expressive person so that was a challenge.”
As for a Boy Meets World reunion of sorts?
“I would definitely be game for a reunion show,” she says, “and I think some of the other cast would be, so if ABC or Disney ever approached us with that, I think that would be wonderful.”
