Is Deckard back?!

According to TwitchFilm this morning, Harrison Ford is in talks for the next film in the Blade Runner franchise. Director Ridley Scott signed on to direct and produce back in August, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether the next installment will be a prequel or sequel. He had already said that Ford and the Deckard character wouldn’t return.

However, Twitch assures that Ford ”has entered early talks” to join the film. Which is likely, because these days Indiana does just about everything. It’s a sure thing that the film would be a blockbuster success with their lethal collaboration.

Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner,” the influential sci-fi film from 1982, is being restored and remastered for a limited new release in September.

The DVD, set to feature the 1992 “director’s cut,” will be deleted after four months and replaced by a 25th anniversary edition “final cut,” according to Reuters.

Warner Home Video is billing the final cut as Scott’s “definitive new version” of the movie. It see a limited theatrical release before appearing on DVD as part of a multi-disc special edition set that will also include the original theatrical version, the expanded international version, and the 1992 director’s cut.

The director’s cut was one of the first films to appear on DVD in 1997, before optimal quality standards had been set.

“Blade Runner” stars Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, a futuristic policeman in 2019 Los Angeles. After grossing only $26.2 million US in its original theatrical release, the film went on to become a cult classic.
