Posted on andPOP:

Black Mountain are gearing up for a fresh batch of dates across North America, including three headlining shows in Canada and a gig at Vancouver’s Stanley Park Singing Exhibition.

The B.C. psychedelic rockers will hit Victoria, Montreal and Toronto during their 10-date run, which will take them through August and September.

Joining the five-piece for some of the dates is Seattle-based singer-songwriter Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter.

Black Mountain will get things rolling with a show at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival on Aug. 22, and wrap up at Toronto’s Opera House on Sept. 27.

In between, they will appear as “special guests” at the Stanley Park Singing Exhibition, a two-day festival spearheaded by fellow Canadian band The New Pornographers. Black Mountain will take the stage on Sept. 1 along with Belle and Sebastian’s Stevie Jackson, 1990s, Visqueen and, of course, The New Pornographers.

Right now, the five-piece Black Mountain are in the midst of several festival dates in Europe. They are touring in support of their second album “In The Future,” which was released in January and snagged a spot on the 2008 Polaris Music Prize shortlist.

Posted on andPOP:

Canada’s far north will get a blast of music this summer with the return of the Dawson City Music Festival.

The first artists confirmed to play the annual Yukon event include Black Mountain, The Sadies, Hayden, Justin Rutledge, Basia Bulat and Immaculate Machine.

The festival will take place at various venues in Dawson City from July 18 to 20.

Tickets are on sale now via Ticketpro; more details are available at www.dcmf.com.

In an interview in January with CBC’s Radio 3, new festival producer Tim Jones said he foresaw “an insanely fun weekend full of eclectic, amazing music.”

He added, “We have some special surprises lined up that could only happen under the midnight sun – but you’ll have to make the trek way up north to discover what they might be.”

The event is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and in the past has drawn such Canadian talents as the Weakerthans, Final Fantasy, Amy Millan and the Constantines.

Here is the initial lineup for this year’s Dawson City Music Festival:

•	Black Mountain
•	Basia Bulat
