Bill Murray Loves The Bears; Pushes Packers Fan

Bill Murray is one of the greatest.

A lot of words could appropriately end that sentence. Actors, comedians, people, all come to the top of my mind. And now, you can add “sports fan” to that list. Well, Chicago Bears fan at least.

FilmDrunk is reporting that at last week’s NFC Championship game at Soldier Field in Chicago, Murray was in attendance and actually pushed a Packers fan when he began to cheer after a big play.

This is what the fan’s friend wrote in to BlackbookMag:

“My friend Matt Katrosar flew to Chicago last weekend to hang out with some of his Windy City pals and attend the Bears/Packers NFL playoff game. He was wearing a Green Bay jersey (in support of old-school Packers legend Ray Nitschke) amid a sea of Chicago blue. During the 2nd quarter, Matt celebrated a considerably good play on the part of Green Bay with the usual hootin’ and hollerin’ reserved for such moments. That’s when he was blatantly shoved from behind. Turning to catch a glimpse of his assailant, he discovered his pusher was none other than Bill Murray, a huge Chicago Bears fan, who was unapologetically enjoying the moment.

Matt’s friend managed to capture a photo of Murray in mid-celebration, laughing at the rival fans. Naturally, Matt wanted a picture with the legendary actor. Murray’s response to his request? ‘Nitschke is a pussy.’”

I’ve always wanted to hangout with Bill Murray, but after finding out he’s this big of an arsehole, I REALLY want to hang out with him.

Who You Gonna Call? BILL MURRAY

According to thewrap.com, Canadian film producer, Ivan Reitman, is gushing about the Ghostbusters 3 script.

He comments, “It’s got a really good story, this one. Maybe the best of the whole series. I hope we get to do it.” Reitman confirms that all of the original characters will have roles in the new film including Sigourney Weaver. However, there have been an array of false reports claiming that Bill Murray read and disliked the new script and therefore didn’t want to sign on to the project. Reitman clears up those rumors, “He has not read a thing. He’s never read anything. And I just sent it to him. So we’ll see. God knows how long that will take. But we’ll see.”

It should be interesting to see the renewal of such a popular series of films. For many of us who either were born in the 80s or were exposed to many of the great films of that time period like Back to the Future and Indiana Jones, seeing a new Ghostbusters film would be phenomenal. I’m sure many will be ecstatic to hear that catchy theme song being played over and over.

So let’s all pray that Murray likes the script, Ghostbusters wouldn’t be the same without him.

Wes Andersen’s Big Name Cast

Wes Andersen has announced his new film, Moon Rise Kingdom. It is a comedy/dramedy of sorts set in the 1960s about two young lovers who run away together but are thought to be missing. According to deadline.com, Andersen has pulled some big names in for the project. Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton, are set to star in the film.

Anderson has a knack for drawing out talented actors to star as quirky characters in his offbeat films. Bill Murray is a veteran star in Anderson’s films. Hopefully this one will be more like The Royal Tenenbaums, and less like the The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Jay Leno Reclaims Old Position at NBC’s “Tonight Show”

Jay Leno has been missing from TV screens across the world for just over three weeks now. And Monday, he will reappeared, reports the CBC.

Nine-teen days ago, NBC cancelled Leno’s own prime-time show. It has also been nine months since Leno has given up his position at the “Tonight Show,” to Conan O’Brien. But now, Leno is back to reclaim his old position on the “Tonight Show.”

Since Leno is back, the late-night war once again begins with CBS opponent David Letterman. Letterman dominated the ratings during O’Brien’s brief appearance as the “Tonight Show” host.

But, Leno ruled the late night for much of the 17 years he was with the “Tonight Show,” and NBC is hoping that he will be comfortable in his desk chair, once again.

Handicappers are already wondering if Leno can recapture the same momentum he used to have on the show. It will be hard for Leno to do so since he left last May in favour of O’Brien and was just so recently cancelled by NBC.

As for O’Brien, he could possibly be placed on the FOX network, where he would enter in the late-night war with Letterman and Leno.

NBC now needs something to new to brag about, with the Winter Olympics now in the past. Leno, once again hosting the “Tonight Show” might just do the trick.

Leno’s guests included Jamie Foxx, Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn and singer-songwriter Brad Paisley. Letterman will battle back with Bill Murray and rap star Ludacris.

You can catch Leno’s “The Tonight Show” at 11:35 p.m. Eastern time, along with the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Let the late-night battle begin.

Movie Review: The Limits Of Control

In “The Limits of Control,” Tilda Swinton’s character says something along the lines of: good films are those that resemble dreams you’re not sure you really had. That’s exactly what this movie was: a film I wasn’t sure I really saw.

“The Limits of Control” tells the story of a reserved loner (Isaach De Bankolé) and his bizarre journey across Spain, where he attempts to complete an illegal mission. Throughout the film, Bankolé meets a range of different people who help him complete his job. If this sounds vague, that’s because this film is sort of vague. But the performances are unique, to say the least.

For example, it wouldn’t be surprising if Bankolé, the protagonist, had give or take 40 lines throughout the entire film (including one-liners), which is unusual for most big-name productions. That being said, he pulls off an in-depth character who practices tai chi every morning and always asks for two expressos in separate cups. These little details add depth to all the characters in this movie with little dialogue.

But to be fair, the film’s director and writer Jim Jarmusch had a stellar supporting cast that can pull off a movie with little dialogue, including two-time Oscar nominee John Hurt, funny-man Bill Murray, Gael García Bernal (Blindness, The Motorcycle Diaries) and Academy Award Winner Tilda Swinton at his disposition. Unfortunately, many of these actors appear in only two or even just one scene.

Still, Jarmusch deserves a big kudos for creating a flick that isn’t a remake of a remake, or a sequel to a prequel in a remake-sequel era. This film is undeniably original, but also undeniably bizarre and random at times.

It’s bizarre to see a character who is literally credited as “Nude” (Paz de la Huerta) remain naked throughout the entire movie (although it definitely isn’t a bad thing). And her purpose to the film, along with some other characters remains a random mystery.

Then again, the phrase “reality is arbitrary” is mentioned in this movie — and it’s there for a reason. “The Limits of Control” isn’t a laugh-out-loud type of movie like “I Love You, Man,” so don’t be surprised if you don’t laugh, even once. It’s also not an action-packed thriller such as “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” so don’t expect to hear any gunshots or see stunning special effects (besides beautiful Spain).

And be prepared for bizarreness, uniqueness and randomness. If you’re bored of the usual, go see the unusual: “Limits of Control”.

Bill Murray’s Wife Files for Divorce

After almost 11 years of marriage, Billy Murray’s wife, Jennifer Butler Murray filed for divorce earlier this month.

Murray alleges that her husband abused her and is addicted to alcohol and marijuana.

According to The Post and Courier of Charleston, Murray also alleges that her husband “travels overseas where he engages in public and private altercations and sexual liaisons.”

The couple signed a pre-nuptual agreement waiving their right to alimony.

The agreement does state however that once their divorce is finalized, Murray will pay his wife $7 million within 60 days.

The couple have four children together.

Murray is best known for his roles in “Ghost Buster”, “Groundhog Day” and “Saturday Night Live”.

Bill Murray Attends Students’ Party, Washes Their Dishes

Bill Murray brought the plot of his hit film “Lost in Translation” to life over the weekend when he showed up at a late-night student party in St. Andrews, Scotland.

The U.K.’s Sunday Telegraph reports that Murray was brought to the gathering of Scandanavian youngsters by 22-year-old Norwegian student Lykke Stavnef.

“Nobody could believe it when I arrived at the party with Bill Murray,” said Stavnef, a student of social anthropology. “He was just like the character in ‘Lost in Translation.’”

Murray reportedly joked and partied with the students, drinking vodka from a coffee cup. Towards the end of his stay, Murray even lent a hand to the clean-up, washing dishes in the house’s small kitchen.

“The party was overflowing with stunning Scandinavian blondes,” said Tom Wright, another student. “He seemed to be in his element, cracking lots of jokes. It was the talk of the town the next day.”

Ashes of Hunter S. Thompson Shot out of Cannon

In a farewell celebration to the founder of “gonzo journalism,” Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes were shot out of a cannon, as people paid their final respects.

Red, white, blue and green fireworks were said to light up the sky, along with the ashes, near Thompson’s home in Aspen.

“He loved explosions,” said his wife, Anita Thompson.

About 250 guests showed, including actors Billy Murray and Johnny Depp.

Thompson committed suicide nearly six months ago at the age of 67, apparently due to his declining health.

His final wishes were to be shot out of a cannon of his own design. Thompson’s wife collaborated with Depp to make this come true.

“All I’m doing is trying to make sure his last wish comes true. I just want to send my pal out the way he wants to go out,” Depp told the Associated Press.

Depp protrayed Thompson in the 1998 version of, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream.”

Thompson’s ashes were errupted from a 15 story tower.
