Every week ANDPOP columnist Kelly Burns narrows down the most bizarre stories of the week. They’re not exactly newsworthy but just weird enough to grab our attention. This week, San Francisco offers awesome Jedi classes and a dude busted for marijuana shows us why logic is a valuable skill.
The Dark Knight rises is arrested
So Matthew Argintar obviously hasn’t seen ANY Batman movies, but dresses up like the hero and freaks the public right out. The 23-year-old, was arrested outside a New Jersey Home Depot, after being spotted dressed up as Batman, and asking people if they needed any help. Hey Matthew! Watch the movies! Batman doesn’t just ask random people if they need help. He knows where the bad guys are and saves those already in distress.. DUH! With the recent Colorado shooting, this is not a funny prank…
Warning: don’t insert in anus

I can’t believe people actually are dumb enough to do this! A man in Australia must have watched Jackass, cause he decided he would stick some fireworks in his buttocks and light them off for kicks. Well, this didn’t end well, for OBVIOUS REASONS! He was treated for burns to his cheeks, back and privates. SMH Do we really need this warning added to firework labels? Warning: Please do not insert in anus.
How to be a Jedi 101
Alright, so this might actually be my dream come true. If you love Star Wars like me and have always wanted to be a Jedi Knight, NOW YOU CAN! In San Francisco, there are lightsaber training classes for adults. The end goal of the class is to reenact the ending scene from The Empire Strikes Back, when Luke and Darth Vader have it out. I think I’m vacationing in San Francisco this Fall.

Pomplamoose tastefully delayed their cover of the Batman theme song, originally by Danny Elfman, because of the tragedy in Aurora. Although they were going to scrap it altogether, they ultimately decided to release it for fans who were expecting it.
“One of the points of YouTube videos and the music that we listen to and all that stuff is to be a counter point to all the horrible things that happen in the world,” said Jack Conte, one half of the duo. ”It was originally intended to be this fun, exciting minute of superhero insanity for Batman fans.”
The electronic cover starts off with Nataly Dawn’s eerie voice before delving into Pomplamoose’s trademark multi-instrumental sound.
On Wednesday’s episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy debuted a hilarious new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, which makes it seem a whole lot funnier than the serious action-adventure we’re expecting. Fallon added his own personal touch by getting Paul Reubens to lip-dub all the character’s voices as Pee-wee Herman, including Batman, Catwoman and Bane.
There’s nothing like the constrained, high pitched voice of Pee-wee Herman imitating Bane: ”Your punishment must be more severe.”
The Dark Knight Rises hits theatres on July 20 (ONE WEEK AWAY). The movie stars Christian Bale, returning as Batman, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, and Tom Hardy.

Everyone and their grandma seems to be super stoked for the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, the Dark Knight Rises (NINE MORE DAYS!!!).
Toronto has already given us a Batman/Spiderman duel to remember, but have you ever thought of all the things Batman might say when he’s not kicking ass? Thanks to Chicago’s Octavarius Improv, we don’t have to wonder anymore. In their wonderful world of Batman, the caped crusader is a Tyler Perry fan, can’t remember where he parked his car, and is astounded that his batmobile is on Tumblr.
The highlight of the whole video, hands down, is when Batman starts rocking out to Boyz II Men’s “I Swear.” Seriously, that’s point where I stop breathing properly because I’m laughing so hard.
Before I ruin it any further for you, make sure to look out for all the “RACHEL!” moments, and the former Batman name drops.
Watch the video below (be wary of mild language):
Spider-Man is certainly getting his share of attention these days considering The Amazing Spider-Man was just released in theatres. But he shouldn’t boast too much because The Dark Knight Rises will be in theatres on July 20. The two heroes bumped into each other in Toronto and after spewing some angry dialogue at each other, they literally started fighting in Dundas Square, Pizza Pizza the TTC and on Queen Street to prove who’s more badass.
I don’t know what I’d do if I was on the subway, half-heartedly attempting to finish my crossword when all of a sudden Spider-Man and Batman start brawling in my peripheral vision. I’d probably try not to stare too much during such an intense confrontation and instead sneakily pull out my camera so I could be all like “Yo, I totally just saw Batman and Spider-Man take knocks at each other on the train” to my non-believer friends (shun).
I can’t say with certainty who wins this battle — while Spider-Man has heart you really don’t want to mess with Batman because he’s so damn cool and his voice is kind of scary.
The video was posted on TheSeanWardShow, where you can also watch Batman meet Chad Vader and the Joker.

Jimmy Kimmel decided to help out comic fanatics who are campaigning for more gay superheros by combining an episode of Project Runway with the Justice League. His newest episode of Kimmel Kartoons chronicles Batman offering design advice to the ever fashionable Superman…. or should I say Tim Gunn offering advice to the designer Joshua.
Unfortunately Gunn thinks the material Joshua plans on using for his new Project Runway clothing line is tacky garbage, sending him home to start from scratch. This is one superhero cartoon I might watch.

The third trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Risesproves the movie will be just as epic as we hoped. The movie follows Batman eight years after he took the fall for Two Face’s crimes. A new terrorist leader, Bane overwhelms Gotham City.
The star-studded cast includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Hardy and will be out on July 20. Oh and of course, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be the mysterious cop John Blake (swoon).
Other reasons why the clip is badass? It starts off with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle predicting: ”There’s a storm coming.” This is followed by a series of explosions, including cars, bridges, buildings and trucks. Plus, we get a clip of Batman’s flying vehicle, dubbed The Bat.

It was a dark and cold night in Toronto and all Batman wanted was a snack. But why do they make those packets so freaking hard to open? Luckily there were some good samaritans wandering around at midnight to help him out… usually in exchange for a photo.
Not to ruin the illusion or anything, but Batman is in fact Alex Brovedani, and he’s a stand-up comedian who grew up in Woodbridge, Ontario. He first wore batman’s cape on Halloween and has since taken to the streets with his deep, throaty voice. [Source]
Watch the clip here:
If Batman had a night out in Toronto he’d be able to crack all kinds of mysteries. But opening an original, non-spicy, beef jerky stick might be a little tough for him. This seems to be the case when Batman went on the prowl for drugs in Toronto yesterday, scouring the subways, coffee shops and streets in his pursuit.
Batman meets tons of people on his adventure, including legitimate policemen who he insists on ticketing and a random streeter who takes him out to party. His real name is Alex Brovedani, and he’s a stand-up comedian who grew up in Woodbridge, Ontario. He first wore batman’s cape on Halloween and has since taken to the streets with his deep, throaty voice.
Brovedani does a perfect impersonation, though his slow run gives him away. If you, like me, are totally impressed by Batman you can follow him at @TorontoBatman.
Anne Hathaway still wants to be on Glee. She spoke about it to PopSugar.
“I’m planning on it,” Hathaway said about her guest role as Kurt’s aunt on ‘Glee.’ “I don’t know if they’re planning on it.”
Hathaway saw Ryan Murphy at the Golden Globes, where they had a small conversation about having her on the show.
“Ryan Murphy goes, ‘Anne Hathaway! Come on ‘Glee.’ And I said, ‘Yes!’ and he said ‘Fab, I’ll call you,’” Hathaway said.
After the Globes, Hathaway said Murphy was telling reporters it was a done deal.
“He went back to the press room and said, ‘Anne Hathaway is going to be on the show,’ and that became like a news event,” she said.
“She created her own character, and we ran into her, and I said ‘Really?’ and she said ‘Yes!’ so we’re going to do that,” Murphy told E! Online. “We love her.”
This happened in January. So what’s taking so long?
“And I never heard from him again [laughs]. Ryan Murphy, I’m calling you out: I want to be on ‘Glee.’ I’ve got my songs picked out,” Hathaway said.
Why do you think Ryan Murphy is stalling?
Photos of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman have surfaced. Anne of course will be playing Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film, Dark Knight Rises.
The photos were first spotted on the official website, TheDarkKnightRises.com. We don’t think anybody can argue that she looks pretty good!
After months of speculation of who Joseph-Gordon Levitt will play in the new Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises”, fans can finally release a sigh of relief as the name of his role has been released.
In March, it was reported that Gordon-Levitt would play Albert Marcone, the son of major Gotham crime boss Alberto Falcone, played by Tom Wilkinson in the first of Christopher Nolan’s films, “Batman Begins.”
According to to a Warner Bros. press release, the actor will instead play John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Comissioner Gordon.”
On the other hand, Marion Cotillard, who was long assumed to be part of the cast, was also made official on Tuesday. She will play Miranda Tate, who according to Warner Bros. is a “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.”
Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard will join three-time Batman Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, who will play Selena Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy, who will serve as Bale’s nemesis.
This will be the final Batman film Nolan will direct. After the film, Warner Bros. will reboot the series, in which Nolan will produce.
With this star-studded cast, there will be high expectations for this film!!
But with rebooting of the series? That, I am not too sure about.
How many Batman films do they need??
A sudden wave of new superhero films has just emerged in the film industry. Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) is rebooting the Spider-Man series, Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) is rebooting the Superman series, and news broke out yesterday that the Justice League film is back in action as it has been placed back on Warner Brother’s schedule.
Comingsoon.net reports that the Justice League film will not be related to Zack Snyder’s Superman project nor to the forthcoming Dark Night Rises. The ensemble film, featuring Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and others, will be a stand alone story.
HeyUguys.co.uk spoke with Snyder on the red carpet for the premiere of Sucker Punch about the Justice League film, Snyder said, ”Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with ‘Superman’, what they’ll do with ‘Justice League’ will be it’s own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they’ll kinda get to do it twice, which is kind of cool.”
Hopefully Warner Bros. will sign on a well known director to front the project and cast some strong leads. The film will have to compete with all the other superhero films being so they have to create a strong narrative. We don’t want to see another flop like The Avengers.
Good old Christopher Nolan has been keeping us in the dark (no pun intended) for quite a long time now regarding the details of the third and final installment of his Batman trilogy. Finally the tight-lipped director has revealed who Thomas Hardy will be playing in The Dark Night Rises.
Perez Hilton reports that Hardy will be playing the villain, Bane alongside a freshly cast Anne Hathaway who will be playing Selina Kyle. Bane appeared in the 1997 film, Batman & Robin as the silent sidekick of Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). However, Bane will take on much more of a leading role in The Dark Night Rises.
Bane originally appeared in the Batman comic books in 1993. He was imprisoned for nearly his entire life where he developed strength and agility within the confines of his cell. When prison guards took notice of his unimaginable strength they chose him to be the test subject for a mysterious and lethal drug called Venom. After narrowly avoiding death, Bane discovered that Venom would increase his strength immensely, however he must take it every 12-hours otherwise he will suffer from hideous and fatal side-effects.
Bane is a good choice for a villain in the new film. He should prove to be a very tough match for The Dark Night due to his intelligence and incredible vigor. Let’s hope Hardy delivers.
Christopher Nolan has announced the title for his new Batman film, the third installment in the series. According to Perezhilton.com, the film will be titled The Dark Night Rises. Surely people will get a “rise” out of that title, it is kind of a let down. It’s surprising that with all those cinematic tricks up Nolan’s sleeve he couldn’t come up with a better title. I guess he’s not so good with words. In any case, the film is sure to be a blockbuster.
Nolan also announced that despite the whirlwind of rumors, The Riddler will not be one of the villains in the film. Wow, another let down. So who can the new villain be? Maybe Bane, or Catwoman? If the title doesn’t sell the film a screen siren in a leather catsuit definitely will. Hopefully it’s not Ellen Page, not so sexy in Inception.
So The Dark Night Rises is being filmed in New Orleans, it has a lame title, and there is no Riddler? Oy vey, Nolan better deliver something good soon.
According to Deadline.com, Tom Hardy (Inception) has been cast by Christopher Nolan to play a lead role in the upcoming Batman 3 film.
Yet again, Nolan and Warner Bros. are using a familiar tactic and keeping all information relating to Hardy’s new role a secret. This surreptitious strategy will most definitely be successful and earn Nolan a few more bucks.
Although the role Hardy will be playing is a mystery, it seems likely that he will star as a villain in the upcoming film. Which villain you ask? Who knows, it is likely that there will be a multiplicity of villains of varying kinds.
Maybe a gambling pool should be started on all things concerning the cast of Batman 3. I’m placing a bet on Jospeh Gordon Levitt also playing a villain.
According to PerezHilton.com, Christopher Nolan has been confirmed to direct the next Batman film, currently titled, The Untitled Batman Project.
After Nolan’s success with Batman Begins, The Dark Night, and more recently, Inception, it would seem silly for him to turn down the completion of the trilogy. Warner Brothers is being very quiet about the project. Perhaps they have another media stunt up their sleeve akin to the mystery surrounding Inception.
Christian Bale will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Michael Caine is still Alfred, but who is going to play the Riddler? People are dying to know who will play the character. It is rumored that Joseph Gordon Levitt will play the Riddler, but again, this could be a riddle in itself. I guess we will have to wait and see!
The film is in pre-production and Nolan is in final stages with the script. However, we probably won’t see this film for another couple of years.
Christopher Nolan sure has done some incredible work with the Batman franchise. With the financial and critical success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it wasn’t a question of if a third movie would happen, it was when.
Well, as Slashfilm.com reports, Batman 3 was announced Wednesday as part of a deal IMAX made with Warner Bros. which featured 20 to-be-produced films. Fans of the films were excited to know that a third installment was on its way.
Although the details are slim and it unclear if there is even a screenplay completed, Warner Bros. was confident enough to set a date. Earlier today Warner Bros. announced the official release date of Batman 3.
Mark it down—July 20th 2012 is the date to remember.
It seems as though the studio is going for a similar scale of release as 2008’s The Dark Knight as the new film will be out on the exact same weekend.
If the production schedule is anything like that of The Dark Knight, as Slashfilm.com reports, shooting will likely need to get underway around mid-2011.
So I was watching a well known T.V show and they were doing a list of some of the most anticipated games for 2010.
As it turns out Batman Arkham Asylum 2 was on their list. If you have played the first title you would know the amount of hell Batman goes through and if I were Batman I would be just as surprised.
