Gifted But Twisted is the perfect name for this group. Their song and video “Six Pack” is totally twisted. It recycles every tired cliche you’d see in a formulaic teen video including abs of steel, rocking places, girls dancing in bikinis and chugging beers. The only clever part of this video is that the guy who’s singing about his six pack doesn’t even have abs, so it’s kind of ironic.
While the video is certainly twisted, it’s also a gift because it’s pretty hilarious. Okay, I know a lot of effort probably went into writing and producing this song (if it’s even serious) but any track in which a barely legal kid urges ladies to lift up their shirts and get “f*cked up” with him feels inauthentic.
It’s the type of video you want to share with your friends but at the same time you don’t want to promote it too much because the guys probably get paid for high views on their YouTube page.
Watch it here:
Everybody block your ears. Run away. Or risk being subjected to Paris Hilton’s “singing voice.” The irrelevant socialite released the full wrath of her new song and video for “Drunk Text,” most presumably written from a negative personal experience.
Hilton didn’t even autotune her voice to create a manufactured singing voice for this one, she just goes for poorly delivered spoken words with an electronic beat behind them. The whole song is about the repercussions of a drunk text she accidentally sends.
I think I’ve devised the exact formula Hilton is talking about:
The word sex + texting = sexting + drunk sexting = hot mess or as Hilton astutely puts says “I’m not sure what it means to us.”
Everything about this song is wrong. The words are silly and repetitive, Hilton doesn’t even try to sing and the beat isn’t danceable. Still, Hilton’s been sidelined by the Kardashians for a little while, so attention good or bad is probably welcomed.
If you manage to get through this whole song, you’ve got a brave soul my friend.
