Haters are hating on Glee’s cover of “Baby Got Back” because they didn’t pay much credit to Jonathan Coulton, who originally performed the arrangement. Coulton covered Sir Mixalot 1992′s ode to arses with a slower, more emotional track and couldn’t help but note the similarities on Twitter:
It doesn’t seem like Glee asked permission or paid credit to Coulton at all. But as LiterallyLuke says on YouTube: “Coulton’s songs are released under a Non-commercial Creative Commons license. That means that the songs can be used by people as long as attribution is used and they are not using it commercially. Glee’s use of the song, if they do use it, is a violation of that, even if they credit him. Similarly this channel is in violation as there was no attribution given. Hope that clears things up for some defenders of Glee.”
Listen to the two versions below and let us know what you think in the comments! Also, as someone who watches Glee I find a lot of their covers sound like carbon copies of YouTube arrangements. Can you think of others?

It’s been 20 years that we’ve all been singing along to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” You just can’t deny that it’s an awesome song and you have to rap along to it.
YouTube user dondrapersayswhat did the unthinkable and made the greatest mashup I’ve ever seen. He commented: “Clips from 295 movies used to recreate Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back, because I’m just that much of a nerd.” Looks like he had a lot of time on his hands, but it definitely payed off because the whole thing brought back memories from tons of my favourite movies.
You can see everyone from John Travolta, Ben Affleck, Sylvester Stallone, Vince Vaughn, Chucky, as well as cartoon appearances from Batman, Bugs Bunny and many more. Don’t worry, if you forgot the words, he added in captions below to sing along.
