The Friskies annual award show for Internet cat videos is streaming live from Los Angeles RIGHT NOW, brought to you by Friskies and The Pet Collective. The show is being hosted by the always “extra” Buck Hollywood’s Michael Buckley. The show honours all those brave men and women who have tackled directing their cats, despite the old adage “Never work with children or animals.”
We’re big cat lovers here at ANDPOP so anything that recognizes all those established felines of the Internet world is fine with us. The finalist also gets $15,000, which is pretty major.

Time to break out the surfboards again as voting for this year’s Teen Choice Awards finally begins!
Hit sci-fi show The Vampire Diaries and reality show American Idol lead the pack in nominations apiece. The blood sucking show is nominated for Choice TV Show (Fantasy/Sci-Fi), Choice TV actor (Ian Somerhalder AND Paul Wesley), and Choice TV actress (Nina Dobrev AND Kat Graham). Idol is nominated for Choice TV Male and Female Personalities (Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez), Choice TV Reality Show Competition, and Choice TV Male and Female Reality Stars (Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina).
Justin Bieber leads the artist category with five nominations: Choice Male Artist, Choice Single, Fashion Icon, Choice Male Hottie, and Choice Twit. He will probably win every single one.
I would love to see Twilight lose every category its in (Choice movie, choice actor, and choice actress all for the fantasy/sci-fi category). I’m actually a bit offended the book series was even nominated for choice book because there are so many other Young Adult novels actually worth your time and money (i.e. The Hunger Games, The Fault in our Stars, etc.).
I would also love to see Ryan Gosling win some awards, because who wouldn’t love to see Gosling looking suave on the red carpet? Come on, teens of the world! Make my dreams come true!
Our beloved Brit Brit has reached another milestone. She has reached her dirty thirties today.
Since escaping her mother’s womb 30 years ago in Mississippi, she’s never had a dull moment. From starring in the Mickey Mouse Club, to dating the hottest boy band member, the whole world is always in the loop when it comes to her career and personal life. The pop princess had accomplished a lot for a 30-year-old; some good, some bad and some ugly. Here’s a look at the top five most outrageous Britney moments.
5. Her 2001 VMA performance
While “singing” her hit song “I’m a Slave 4 U”, Britney’s wardrobe consisted of a green bikini, a lot of glitter and a white python. The sultry performance was talked about for weeks at the water cooler. People still dress up in this costume for Halloween sometimes.
4. Entering motherhood
Six years ago, while married to Kevin Federline, Britney had her first son, Sean Preston Federline. It came as a shock because no one thought Britney was ready for such a responsibility. In fact, after her second child, Jayden James Federline, people still poked fun at her. Comedian Sarah Silverman even called her sons “the most beautiful mistakes” at an award show.
3. Her day-long marriage
We all know the expression “what happens in Vegas, stayed in Vegas”. For Britney, she ended up bringing her Vegas escapades back home with her. The media blew up and I’m sure the internet broke when news broke that Britney married her childhood friend Jason Alexander but got an annulment a day later. This is when everyone began questioning Britney and gossiping about a potential drug addiction.
2. Kissing Madonna
As per usual, when Britney’s set to performance at an award show, it’s sure to be a jawdropper. For the opening song at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Britney, Christina Aguilera and Madonna performed “Like a Virgin”. The two former Mickey Mouse members were wearing bridal gowns and Madonna wore a black tux. When they changed songs to “Hollywood”, Madonna did the unexpected and planted a sloppy kiss on Britney (and Christina but this isn’t her moment). The best part: the camera cutting to Justin Timberlake for his reaction.
1. Shaving Her Head
Back in 2007, Britney did what was considered the norm for a major popstar: she checked into rehab. It seems she was partying too much with “bad role models” like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Unfortunately, Britney abruptly checked out a day later. The following day, she was spotted at a Tattoo Parlour in L.A. shaving her head. Known for her long, gorgeous blonde locks, the sight of Britney bald and completely worn out shocked just about everyone.
Demi Lovato is pulling a “J.Lo” at the Latin Grammy Awards by wearing a very, very low cut dress.
The singer who’s rumoured to be the girlfriend of a much older Wilmer Valderrama, wore a pink, plunging Roland Mouret gown at the award ceremony.
E! reports her unofficial boyfriend was also in attendance and avoided any questions on the red carpet about Demi. What a slick guy!
What’s also slick is how well Demi pulls this dress off. Sure, some may think a 19-year-old shouldn’t be wearing dresses this low-cut or making out with guys over 30 (which Wilmer is), but she’s gone through a lot and has shown she’s very mature for her age. So, Demi should wear whatever she wants. With her makeup and hair looking the way it is, Demi looks like a classic Hollywood beauty.
The biggest night in L.A is just a few months away. The red carpet will roll out, and golden statues will tower over the flashing cameras as the Oscars unfold.
Elaborately stunning gowns, tasteful and otherwise, shall parade across our televisions and live streams. But who is the host? Earlier this week, film director Brett Ratner resigned as the producer. He called it quits after making some anti-gay remarks in the media. A day later, Eddie Murphy closed up shop as well. But all is not lost! A replacement has been found for the producer in Brian Grazer, who has produced the shows “24” and “Arrested Development”.
As far as hosting goes, a frog and a few of his pals are gaining momentum.
The Twitterverse is a buzz with hashtagging of the Henson muppet creations. Even Perez Hilton is showing some muppet love when he tweeted: “@RealBrianGrazer #Muppet Oscars.”
There’s even a MuppetOscars2012 Twitter account set up, with over 10,000 followers. The Facebook support for The Muppets Should Host the 2012 Oscars has rallied over 25,000 ‘likes’. It’s no surprise this has come up. A ten year hiatus from the small screen has left fans hungering for more than just their upcoming film, The Muppets, out on November 23rd.
They’ve got some serious competition to deal with, from past Oscar hots like Billy Crystal or Steve Carell, who have really upped the ante. Who knows, maybe the rainbow connection will arrive on the most glamorous of nights.
