On Monday night’s episode of The Hills, we were first introduced to Heidi and Spencer’s hotel in Mexico, only to listen to Spencer talk oh so deeply about their relationship, “Our relationship always is best when it is just you and me. I feel like it’s always other people trying to tear us apart…” It certainly will be a vacation to remember… if the alcohol didn’t completely erase their memories of the night before, good thing they had a video camera!
Whitney gets an exciting phone call from Diane Von Furstenberg, letting her know that she got the job in New York City, and Lauren gives her some encouraging words, “You’ll have the perfect job, and the perfect boyfriend, you’re going to leave behind everything and just have the perfect life.” Of course, Whit reminds us all that she is “going for the job, not for the guy,” although we know that the guy has a lot to do with it.
Heidi shows off her “pro pro” skills at busting open bottles of champagne, and lets us know that the “champagne took all her stress away.” Of course, what is a Speidi conversation without Spencer taking a shot at Heidi’s family? “And I’ll work on trying to not letting your family affect me” in response to her statement of the same nature.
Steph Pratt finds her way to Audrina’s house, which I found a bit bizarre, I mean, since when are Steph and Audrina friends outside of the Lauren bubble? Justin Bobby is also there, and he and Steph exchange a hug. We hear that Audrina and Heidi are still hanging out, and that Spencer and Heidi have mysteriously disappeared and not told anyone of their whereabouts, so JB chimes in with what just may be the best JB line in the history of The Hills, “You should put up some signs.” I don’t think Steph realized the sarcasm, and probably took that advice to heart.
Back in Mexico, Heidi and Spencer are working on getting drunk enough to go through with a marriage, and Spencer, who questions Heidi’s ability to remember their conversation the next day, still insists on getting married. I guess Mama Montag’s allegations of Spencer drugging Heidi into marriage weren’t really far off then. And Heidi certainly blends in with the locals; she has the whole rolling of the Rrr’s down pat… at least after a few drinks. Spencer manipulates Heidi into finally marrying him, their “Secret Mexico Wedding” that is for them, and only them. He convinces her with how their relationship has been crazy, he is madly obsessed with her, and he shelters her from the whole world… boy, a great marriage proposal if I ever heard one! Irresistible, Spence!
Meanwhile, Lauren, Lo, Audrina, and Brody make their way to Whitney’s goodbye party, and tears follow shortly. Lauren, Lo and Audrina chat about what it will be like for Whitney in the big city, we meet Mr. & Mrs. Port, and see a tender hug between Brody and Whitney. Audrina never fails to make a situation awkward by mistakenly thinking Lauren wants to hear about Spencer and Heidi, and talking about them. Whit’s mom breaks down into tears and soon follows a chain of frowns from her friends. Lauren comes to the realization that she no longer has a partner to slack off with at work, but more than that, she no longer has that grounded, advice giving, great friend that Whitney was, right next to her.
When they have a farewell lunch, Whit contemplates how she will get her groceries in NYC, a cab, or a bicycle with a basket? What a conundrum! They reflect back on their first memories at Teen Vogue, and almost break into tears. Lauren pushes passed the tears to tell Whitney how happy and proud she is for her.
The episode comes to an end back in Mexico, “Hello Mrs. Pratt, hello Mr. Pratt,” exclaimed by Heidi and Spencer, followed by how much the alcohol helped in the decision to get married, and we get a peak at the Pratt’s wedding video and beautiful rings they wear. “My mom is going to freak… she is going to kill me,” Heidi states, but I think the big question is, why on earth would you marry someone when you still have to worry about being punished by your parents, and more than that, if she cares so much about her relationship with her family, why would she go and do something like that?
The sneak peak at next week’s episode is crazy, has the Lauren- Heidi feud actually come to an end? And is Justin giving Audrina a promise ring? Insane stuff going on for the finale, tune in and find out!
