The 54th Grammys are on tomorrow night and is hosted by none-other than hip-hop legend LL Cool J – and if you can’t be there, might as well stalk those who are via Twitter.

We pulled together a little list of musicians, music critics, comedians and other accounts that are essential to give an inside look at music’s biggest night. Check them out below:

Andy Samberg to host Shark Week

“I’m on a boat, I’m on a boat. Everybody look at me cause …I’m hosting Shark Week!”

Okay, that was incredibly lame…but how can I hide my excitement?!

Discovery Channel announced Wednesday that Andy Samberg will host the annual “Shark Week” this summer. Serving as the network’s first Chief Shark Officer, the Saturday Night Live star will take over for last year’s host Craig Ferguson, who racked up 31 million viewers for the network.

“I’m overjoyed about being appointed CSO. Everyone loves Shark Week. It’s the Bill Cosby of week-long television blocks dedicated to sea animals,” Samberg said in a statement.

Shark Week won’t be the only thing keeping Samberg busy this summer. With yet another season of SNL wrapping up, his comedy rap group, The Lonely Island, will be releasing their new album “Turtleneck and Chain” in May.

Sounds like big news!!

Hopefully, The Lonely Island makes a cameo…this time singing about …sharks?

Vanilla Ice to Join Adam Sandler Comedy?

You heard right.

Vanilla Ice is on his way back into the limelight whether you like it or not, Perez Hilton reports. The former ‘rapper’ has been cast in an upcoming Adam Sandler comedy entitled I Hate You, Dad! – costarring Andy Samberg and Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester.

The premise of the movie will focus on Sandler, who moves in with his son (Samberg) and future daughter-in-law (Meester), only to immediately start butting heads with her. Ice will surprisingly not be playing himself, but the supporting role of Antonio, a gay wedding coordinator from Long Island. Really?

James Caan is also reported to play Leighton’s actual father. I’m actually quite impressed with this cast, despite Vanilla Ice, so it may be worth checking out.

Sean Anders and John Morris will be directing from a screenplay by David Wain and Ken Marino. Sandler is also producing through his Happy Madison banner along with Jack Giarraputo and Heather Parry. The movie is scheduled for release on June 15, 2012.

Meester most recently starred in “The Roommate,” meanwhile Vanilla Ice was last seen on the big screen in the 2002 teen comedy “The New Guy.” Ice is also playing Captain Hook in an upcoming theatrical production of Peter Pan in England. Looks like someone is focusing on his acting career. God help us all.

I’m not a huge fan of musicians turning into actors. Only the very few can actually make that transition, like Jennifer Hudson or Justin Timberlake, so I don’t think Ice’s role sounds like an Oscar-winner. I’m also not a huge fan of Sandler, so this movie is looking a little meak for me – but could be good. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

SNL Wants Robert Pattinson

On the red carpet for the 61st Annual Emmy Awards, E! News kicked off a campaign to get Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.

“We would love to get Robert Pattinson,” said Seth Meyers. “How dare you tell me he’s the hot guy from Twilight, like I don’t already know! We’re actually hoping if he’s not available, at least his hair will come by and host.”

“Oh yeah, he’d be great,” said Kristen Wiig.

Andy Samburg simply gave a thumbs-up and nodded when asked if he thought Pattison would do a good job hosting.

Season 35 of the sketch comedy show premieres on September 26. Megan Fox will have the honour of hosting while U2 performs as the musical guest.

Andy Samberg To Host MTV Awards

On Sunday May 31 this Saturday Night Live star, formally known for his videos “Dick in a Box” and “Jizz in my Pants” will be bringing his humour to the MTV movie awards. MTV reports that Samberg is very excited about the event. “I grew up watching the show and a lot of the past hosts are heroes of mine. Plus, my friends [in the Lonely Island troupe] and I were writers for the show prior to working at “SNL,” so it will be a sweet and satisfying homecoming. I can’t wait to act really important.” The award show is known for it’s unique categories such as best kiss and best villain. It will certainly be interesting to see how Samberg incorporates his hilarity into making the awards entertaining!

Movie Review: Hot Rod

There is one man that has single-handedly made it impossible to ever again produce a quality movie about a stuntman/stuntmen/stunts, and his name is Johnny Knoxville. If it weren’t for Mr. Knoxville and his merry band of pain-bent pranksters, then it’s entirely possible that Hot Rod would be roaringly hilarious–or at least substantially more enjoyable.

But unfortunately, watching what essentially amounts to watered-down versions of Jackass hijinks, performed mainly by CGI, just doesn’t cut it in a post-Knoxville entertainment world. Simply put, no one’s actually getting hurt, and that ruins all the fun.

That being said, Hot Rod isn’t entirely without merit. The premise itself is ridiculous enough to garner a few laughs on its own. Rod Kimble (Andy Samberg) is an amateur stuntman who gets his kicks from performing–usually unsuccessfully–low-key feats with over-the-top theatrics on his motorbike. But when Frank, his stepfather (Deadwood star Ian McShane), comes down with a heart condition, Rod is pushed to put his so-called skills to good use.

With his inept crew (played by SNLer Bill Hader, relative newcomer Danny McBride, and Jorma Taccone, a member of The Lonely Island comedy trio with Samberg and director Akiva Schaffer) in tow, Rod sets out to raise $50,000 for a transplant operation, mainly so that he might finally beat his step-dad senseless and assert his manhood.

Of course, hilarity ensues as one would expect, but much of it just isn’t all that funny. Many of the gags are of the obviously-trying-to-be-random variety that so many writers have attempted after Napoleon Dynamite pulled it off successfully. And too often, Hot Rod subscribes to the Family Guy technique of taking a joke and dragging it through about 30 seconds of repetition (think Peter Griffin’s extended hissing after self-injury). But Family Guy‘s generally starting off with A-material, while Hot Rod is largely working with B-material–which, rather than getting funnier, just becomes grating.

There are some truly original bits of solid comedy (the combination of LSD and a belt grinder comes to mind), but it’s not enough to save the movie from crashing on landing. And while Knoxville’s made doing that into a big-money franchise, it’s not the same with a script. Samberg’s definitely got potential as an irreverent, young comedian, but Hot Rod will likely fall by the wayside as he moves on to better creations.
