Prankster extraordinaire Andrew Hales schools shy guys on how to pick up girls in a new video, in which he approaches a brunette, tells her she’s cute and asks for her number. Yes, it’s as simple as that guys — no pranks, grade school magic or elaborate speeches needed.
After she agreed he asked if she new who he was, like he was some kind of celebrity. He wrote on his YouTube channel LAHWF: “I know, I know… sometimes when I’m at UVU enough people will recognize me and I’ll start to feel like the center of the universe, so I’ll ask that afterwords to make sure people aren’t playing along or anything that isn’t natural. I later explained everything when we first hung out a couple weeks later. She’s a sweet girl : )”
Do you think it was a smooth pick-up?

One day last summer, I was waiting for the bus outside my office and a middle aged man walked by, carrying a massive black boombox that was playing easy rock from the 90s. There was a confident swagger in his step and I marvelled at him, sure that he had it all figured out.
Since then, I’ve had moments where I’ve longed for a massive boombox so I could blast music and wow bystanders with my sure-footed dance moves. Unfortunately, my awkward dance moves would be more akin to Andrew Hales. The LAHWF prankster approached strangers at the University Mall in Orem, asked them politely if they could hold his boombox and continued to dance for them.
The reactions ranged from wide-eyed confusion to wholehearted support. He even got a couple people to join in. Hales happens to be giving away five pairs of speakers to fans so you can dance just like him. Find out more details on his YouTube page.

Funny man Andrew Hales it at it again, except this time he isn’t hugging random strangers or making them feel guilty. For the second time in Hales prank history, he’s telling strangers corny jokes.
Some were pretty funny, some were awful, and some were downright offensive. “What do you call a fat computer? A Dell.” I don’t think Adele weight jokes will ever be okay… kind of like when Hales sings “Someone Like You” to the strangers. Stick to the jokes buddy.
My favourite part of the video has to be the “where does a one-legged waitress work? Ihop.”

Andrew Hales new prank gave a whole new meaning to that saying back when we were five-years-old – “STOP MIMICKING ME.” Hales latest prank involved him and his friends going up to random strangers in Salt Lake by City Creek, and asking for directions, except, repeating the directions as they were given.
The Prankmeister refuses to take no for an answer when an older woman tries to shrug him off, claiming the directions to Macy’s is “just keep going.” In true stalker-like fashion, he follows her, and gets her to repeat the directions until she sounds like a broken record. I swear you can see the anger bottling in the woman’s eyes as he tries to stay in character.
Prank-master Hales has struck before, pulling pranks like stealing peoples phones, and hugging random strangers.

Andrew Hales latest prank involved approaching random students and professors at his university, asking them questions about directions or the time and then disagreeing with their answers, despite their assurance that they were 100 percent correct.
The prank turned out to be a new favourite of his, though next week he’s heading somewhere other than Utah’s Brigham Young University because too many people are recognizing him. In the past, Hales has pranked people by by pretending to steal their cell phones and telling corny jokes to complete strangers.

LAHWF‘s Andrew Hales latest prank involved going up to random strangers on his university’s campus, covering their eyes and telling them to “guess who.” Even after many of them admitted to not knowing who the hell he was, he kept insisting they met a couple weeks ago.
While many of the ladies were quite positive they still had no idea who he was, some of the guys were all: “Oh yeah, I know you from somewhere, where do you I know you from?”
Considering a few people are starting to recognize him from his other pranks, he’ll have to start pranking a whole new campus soon (he often goes to Brigham Young University and Utah Valley). In the past, Hales has pranked people by by pretending to steal their cell phones and telling corny jokes to complete strangers.

Andrew Hales‘ latest prank involved telling corny jokes to complete strangers on campus. It’s funny because it’s not funny. Hales manages to choose some of the cheesiest jokes out there and delivers them with an apathy similar to Debbie Downer’s.
While some people take his riddles seriously and try to legitimately answer his question (when is the best time to go to the dentist?) most of them look at him quizzically and say “I dunno.” Awkward! In the past, Andrew Hales has pranked people by stealing their cell phones (he worked it into this one again), randomly hugging people and awkwardly trying to hold their hands.

Pranker extraordinaire Andrew Hales pulled one over on university students by politely asking to use their cell phones and then slyly walking away with their devices to see how they’d react. While most people looked confused (probably because anyone who’s really stealing a cell phone would be running away rather than walking) a couple guys dash after him angrily while Hales goofily grins at the hidden camera.
While the Brigham Young University crowd was pretty cool about the whole thing, I think if he tried this prank on the big scary city streets he’d get a much more violent reaction.
Previously Hales pranked streeters by going in for random hugs, awkwardly holding their hands and “not you-ing” them. LAHWF posts videos every Monday.

How would you react if a stranger seems to randomly walk towards you looking to get a hug? Would you hug him? Or would you run away?
Giving out hugs on the street isn’t new, but there’s usually a “FREE HUGS” sign. Youtuber Andrew Hales and sister Jaclyn Hales become those odd strangers without the sign as they walk at people on Venice Beach with arms open wide. Their video shows some mixed but hilarious results. One older gentleman is confused as to why Andrew is hugging him, asking him if they know each other. A young man, on the other hand, offers Andrew a bite of his burger post-hug.

We, of the city-people mindset, are close to strangers all the time. We graze each others arms on busy streets and subtly try to use nearby subway passengers’ head as book rests in cramped trains (this actually happened to me once) but if someone tries to hold your hand it’s all: “WTF get away from me, this is awkward.” I guess that’s where the line is drawn. Head as book rests, okay, holding stranger’s hand, not okay.
Andrew Hales set out to be the creepiest guy in the building by walking next to complete strangers and grabbing their hands. The reactions are mixed from: “oh hey there,” to “are you hitting on me? Don’t.”
Hales other pranks include sitting close to people you don’t know and asking them weird questions, hitting on older women and politely holding the door open for people when they’re too far away.

No-not-you-ing is a cruel prank in which you inflate someone’s ego by making them think you want to high five or hug them, and then at the last minute you change your course to the person behind them. As if they don’t already feel the inevitable sting of rejection, they’re told “No not you.” Pranked! Did you laugh?
The prank was conceived by Andrew Hales and has since been featured on Just For Laughs.
