Adam Lambert, the flamboyant American Idol alum, was rumoured to be joining Queen for a performance at the Sonisphere Fest in July followed by a string of tour dates.

As we reported yesterday, Lambert gloated to the Daily Mail:  ”The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f***ing great songs,” he allegedly said. “It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.”

Lambert then took to his Twitter to dismiss the rumours on Friday evening:

“Oooh them clever reporters takin my quotes outta context…. I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances. I was talking about the EMA’S,” he tweeted, without directly referencing the report. “That being said, I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! ”

They had all performed together at the 2009 American Idol finals as well as a November gig at the MTV EMAs.

Lambert’s sophomore album Trespassing is due in March.

Actor Jim Carrey’s not the only member of the family that’s famous now. Looks like his daughter, 24-year-old Jane Carrey, a waitress from LA wants a piece of the limelight. She recently tried out for “American Idol” and her audition aired last night.

Her choice of song was Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About”, a Canadian classic. The judges weren’t blown away but it’s safe to say they were somewhat intrigued. Randy said Jane definitely has potential.

Jennifer Lopez even made a comment of how she first met Jane when she and her father were filming “In Livin’ Color” back in the early ’90s. Luckily, the judges give her a ticket to Hollywood (even though she can just walk there from where she lives).

The 20-year-old “American Idol” runner-up David “Archie” Archuleta used to have songs on the charts about having crushes and wanting to love someone forever. Who knew he was singing about the big guy upstairs the whole time?

Archie announced during a concert in his hometown of Salt Lake City that he’ll be stepping down from music to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had trouble holding back tears as he told his fans.

Entertainment Tonight reports that missionaries are typically 20 years old and can be sent anywhere around the world to spread the gospel. They are not allowed to date and have to follow a strict dress code. This isn’t the Archie we’re used to seeing on talent shows and in music videos.

It’s obvious the singer thought long and hard about this decision before announcing it to everyone. Two years is a long time to be away from family, friends and fans, but if this is what David thinks his calling is, then it’s very brave of him to follow his heart.

We all know singers crossover on to television at one point or another.

Kelly Clarkson, of American Idol fame, has been seen and heard everywhere lately to promote her new album Stronger. The other day the Idol champ took to her blog to mention her desire to appear on the NBC hit sitcom Parks & Recreation.

“It’s hilarious! I am a bad actress but maybe I could play a bad actress! I would nail that! I need to be in a scene with Ron Swanson. I love all of them but the trucker stache gets me every time,” she wrote.

The first time  Kelly Clarkson got bit by the acting bug was in 2003 when her and Idol runner-up Justin whats-his-face-no-one-really-cared-about-him starred in the summer flop From Justin To Kelly. That movie tanked at the box office faster than Lindsay Lohan at a coke buffet. But now, it seems Kelly Clarkson is looking back in laughter, realizing she made a bad call. Good on her for owning up to her failures!

Kelly is a very sweet, bubbly girl and she would indeed perk up the NBC show. Lots of famous stars have made a cameo on Amy Phoeler’s show, including comedian Louis C.K. and basketball legend Detlef Schrempf. I’m sure the Parks and Rec department can make a little room for an American Idol contestant in the near future.

Scott McCreery can add another accomplishment to his list besides winning American Idol. McCreery is the youngest male in history to open at number 1 on the Top 200 chart.

McCreery told RadarOnline: “My hopes were just to go out there and have fun and let people know that the album was out there. Everybody hopes for the number one, but you never really expect it.”

Scott is also the first AI winner in eight years to land his debut album in that spot.

American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze has lost his record label – RCA Records. Extremely sad considering it’s only been a year and a half since he took the Idol title.

RCA is home to other Idol winners like Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood.

We can only assume DeWyze has been dropped due to poor sales.

DeWyze representative said he’s “in a good place right now” and working on “several exciting projects”.

Some really exciting things are happening to American Idol’s Scott McCreery. He has his debut album coming out, and it’s been announced that he is touring with Brad Paisley.

“It’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him,” he tweeted. “I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way.”

Kelly Clarkson was interviewed by Access Hollywood last week where she compared dating to an American Idol audition.

“It’s like an ‘American Idol’ audition. The worst ones are the most confident… And the same thing goes for my dating life. The worst guys are the most confident with me.”

Ironically, Clarkson’s new track is called ”Mr. Know It All.” Coincidence?

American Idol Season 10 finalist James Durbin has signed a record deal with Wind-Up Records.

Gregg Wattenberg, Wind-up’s Chief Creative Officer, said “When the possibility of signing James Durbin to Wind-up Records came up, we knew it was a no-brainer.  James is a rock star.  We’re all excited to have him as part of the family and can’t wait to let his fans hear his debut album.”

The album is due for November.

Jennifer Lopez was on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show where she spoke about the first American Idol fight of the season.

“I think me, Randy and Steven got into our first fight,” J.Lo admitted when she called in to “On-Air With Ryan Seacrest” on Friday morning. “I got really, really upset. There was this girl that came in and sang and she was amazing, amazing. And Steven, as he will do when we’re doing our auditions, he’ll ask her for another song. I was like, I was surprised because I was ready to vote. I was like, ‘This girl is amazing.’ ”

Seacrest chimed in and said, ”The thing I recognized from that scene was there was blood boiling for one of the first times. I really felt like your blood was boiling.”

We are curious to see how this episode plays out in the upcoming season.

American Idol finalist Jason Castro welcomed a baby girl on Sunday with his wife Mandy. The little girl’s name is Madeline Emilia Castro.

Castro tweeted a photo of Madeline with the caption ”Daddy’s girl.”

His wife posted another photo that was captioned, “My beautiful baby girl, Madeline Emilia Castro.”

Can you believe its been 10 years since Kelly Clarkson busted on the scene? And in that time she has released 4 albums and now a 5th is on the way.

“Stronger” will be coming out October 25th. Clarkson will also be hosting a live webchat August 30th on www.kellyclarkson.com to debut the first single of the album, “Mr. Know It All.”

Clarkson’s last album, “All I Ever Wanted,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and had the hits “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Already Gone.”

A vacation to Disney World in Orlando has paid off big for Joe Slater, a British teenager who stumbled onto an American Idol audition.

Slater was visiting the theme park with his family when his grandfather spotted the AI tryout. The judges were extremely impressed by Joe, and they have offered him a televised tryout in front of the “real” judges, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.

‘I had to pinch myself to actually believe it,’ he told the Mirror.

Adam Levine is on the cover of Out Magazine, where he discusses homosexuality and bad mouths American Idol. 

“What’s always pi**ed me off about ‘Idol’ is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken,” says Levine. “C’mon. You can’t be publicly gay? At this point? On a singing competition? Give me a break. You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that ‘The Voice’ didn’t have any qualms about being completely about it is a great thing.”

Levine became passionate about this issue after Adam Lambert claims while on AI he was forced to keep his sexual preference quiet.

Levine also discusses having a gay brother.

“We all really wanted to provide some cushion for him and constantly let him know that it’s OK. A lot of people don’t want their kid to be gay and will fight it all costs, but I’ve got news for you—it’s a losing f**king battle.”

After much speculation and negotiating, Jennifer Lopez is officially returning to American Idol. The announcement was made by Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe.

“I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of ‘American Idol’ [Ryan Seacrest], is back for the next season,” Lythgoe said Wednesday morning on Seacrest’s radio show, “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.” Lythgoe said all three will be back on the road soon to participate in season 11 auditions.

Lopez has not made a statement as of yet. We are wondering if she was able to get the $20 Million she was asking for.

Marc Anthony deserves a huge alimony cheque if J.Lo is making this kind of money. The New York Post is reporting J.Lo is currently negotiating a pay raise from AI that is said to be worth $20 Million.

Now Steven Tyler wants a piece of the action. Although he is locked into a two-year deal, Steven thinks he deserves a pay hike as he was also crucial to the past season’s success.

“Steven is halfway through a two-year deal,” explained one source, “and his management has asked for more money. They argue he was just as sensational and as popular on the panel as Jennifer. But, on the other side, show bosses argue he’s tied into a deal and has to stick to it. However, it’s hoped they can come to a compromise to keep Steven happy, because the producers love him.”

Haley Reinhart who was a finalist on Season 10 of American Idol has just landed a recording deal with Interscope Records. Haley is currently on tour with “American Idol Live,” which kicked off on July 6.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting this kind of recognition,” Reinhart says in a release. “I am very thankful to 19 and Interscope for giving me this opportunity to create my own music.”

This is amazing news for Haley, considering she initially tried out for Season 9, but didn’t make the cut for Hollywood. However, Season 10 she made the cut for Hollywood and became an Idol favorite. Although she didn’t win Season 10, getting a recording contract with Interscope is a nice second prize.

Well the speculation can now come to an end – Jennifer Lopez is going to be back on American Idol, reports MSNBC. Sources say JLO will announce she has a deal for another season.

For a while, it looked like Lopez would not be returning to the show. In an interview last month with the BBC, she said “I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot other things happening, and it’s going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year and we’re not really at the breaking point of ‘You have to make a decision right now!’ I’m just really enjoying the time of just waiting and seeing.”

Potential replacements for Lopez included Shakira and Shania Twain. We would have loved to see Shakira, but oh well.

Steven Tyler is finalizing negotiations with American Idol for the next season of the show.

People are keeping closed lip about the return. Fox News asked Tyler about his return, and he said, ”We’re in negotiations”, and would not comment further.

Jennifer Lopez was also questioned recently about whether she will stay for another season, “I haven’t been forced to make a decision and I’m glad about that because, honestly, I’m very on the fence about it… I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening.”

We aren’t the biggest AI fans, but from what we saw last season, Steven Tyler does add some massive credibility to the show. JLO, we really don’t care either way. However Shakira would be a great replacement!
