“Alice in Wonderland” has proven that its strong box office performance last week is no fluke.
The film earned an additional $62 Million last week, making its total box office gross $208 Million, according to Hollywood Insider. 13 percent of that money came from the IMAX 3-D screens.
A British newspaper issued an apology to Alice in Wonderland Helena Bonham Carter for printing unfounded claims about her home life with Tim Burton, reports Perez Hilton. The piece said the family was living in separate houses with Bonham Carter in one, Burton in another and their two children and a nanny in a third. The truth is that the family lives in one large house with three interconnected living spaces.
“Alice in Wonderland” is a money maker, making over $68 Million at the box office.
The Tim Burton film topped original box office expectations by the Disney executives. However one cannot be completely surprised by these results with people lining up for 11am screenings. Additionally there was strong support from British audiences which brought in $16.8 Million, even though the film almost wasn’t released in theatres there.
British cinema chain Odeon has reached a deal with Walt Disney Studios regarding the 3-D movie Alice in Wonderland, reversing a previously announced boycott of the film, reports CBC. The flick, which opens across Europe and North America March 5, will be screened in Odeon’s theatres throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and Italy.
Director Tim Burton’s take on the classic story premiered Thursday night in London’s West end at Leicester Square cinema, owned by Odeon, mere hours after the agreement was reached.
Following “detailed negotiations with the Walt Disney Company Ltd., an enduring agreement has been reached encompassing all the different aspects of both companies’ commercial relationship,” Odeon announced in a statement.
Johnny Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis prefer not to shower, choosing to stay ”unruly” whenever they can, reports Perez Hilton. Depp, who has been promoting his upcoming film Alice in Wonderland, says he and Paradis are happy to just live peacefully.
“We have a great place in the South of France,” he said. “It’s a little hamlet – only 45 acres – and I don’t do anything. I’ve not left the property for three months at a time. I literally just wake up, go out, check the garden and see the vegetables growing. It’s a pristine existence in terms of simplicity. There’s no talk of movies or work and, infinitely more important, the telephone never rings. It really is a beautiful, simple life.”
According to Variety.com, Avril Lavigne will release a new track titled “Alice Underground” for the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s upcoming remake of Alice In Wonderland.
Lavigne joins a stellar team of musicians on the soundtrack f0r the new adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, which already includes a collaboration of Blink-182′s Mark Hoppus and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, and a brand new track from All Time Low.
Despite the trio of bands and their pop-punk natures, Wentz assured MTV that his work with Hoppus was outside the box.
