It’s spring! Let’s rejoice by busting out that denim dress we’ve been dying to wear. Aside from its epic wearability, denim is one of the biggest trends this season. It’s the one material that keeps revamping itself, fueling our obsession with new prints, washes and construction. And of course it can be paired with almost anything. I am obsessed with Alexa Chung’s pairing of the combat jacket and denim dress. Chic with a grunge twist!

TREND: Ugly Christmas Sweaters
Inspiration: Colin Firth from Bridget Jones’ Diary and Snoop Dogg
Yes, my dear friends, it ‘tis the season for the obligatory ugly Christmas sweater! There’s really nothing better (okay, except for Mariah maybe) than donning a reindeer on your shirt to get you in the holiday mood. The best part of it all is that it’s fairly cheap to get this season’s warmest look. Just head over to your local Good Will or Value Village and go hunt that sucker down. If you’re not a thrifting fan, don’t fret! Popular stores like J. Crew and Urban Outfitters are selling their own take on tradition. Now everyone can join in on the ugly sweater this season!
TREND: Leather Nails

Inspiration: Alexa Chung
I love how nails have became a canvas for expression this year, all without the palm trees and fake nails of the old days. This time, all around trend-setter Alexa Chung made waves after picking up the trophy for British Style Award again with leather nails. Don’t worry, folks. They’re not real leather, it’s just a matte effect to make them look like the real thing. Leather nail polish is the perfect way to add a little attitude to any outfit even if you’re as sweet as could be.
WTF: Eau de Pizza Hut

Things you can get in Canada: Ketchup chips, Laura Secord chocolate and Pizza Hut perfume. Yep, that last one threw me for a loop and while technically they’re not widely available, I’m still counting it as an only-Canada thing.
The food company only made 110 bottles of the fresh pizza scent with top notes of “freshly baked, hand-tossed dough” and already sent all of them to a few lucky fans. These fans were plucked right off Pizza Hut Canada’s Facebook page after they responded to the company’s question of how much do they love the smell of fresh pizza. Will it be the way to your guy’s heart? I highly doubt it, but it seems like a better idea than Burger King’s Flame by BK meat-scent body spray for men. That stuff is just repulsive.
Kristen Stewart
What she’s wearing: K-Stew busted out a Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 romper to promote the final Twilight movie in Tokyo, Japan.
Why we love it: This look is fresh off the Paris Fashion Week and I couldn’t be more stoked that Stewart chose to wear this look. Stewart is finally coming into her own red carpet style and leaving her naysayers in the dust. The black and white checks is a cool design feature that feels refreshing due to the simplicity and large size of the pattern. Also it’s a romper which makes it all the more fun. The outfit looks very mod but still modern.
Takeaway: Designers are giving a fashion twist to plaids and checkered patterns so be on the lookout for some funkier versions of these everyday patterns. Also opting for a black and white look can be a very safe choice, so do black and white in a cool pattern that keeps the look modern.
Victoria Beckham
What she’s wearing: Posh Spice was spotted out and about in New York City in a Comme des Garçons floral print blouse and J Brand high-waist bell bottom jeans.
Why we love it: We all know that Ms. Beckham can pull off a skin-tight mini dress like no other, so it’s always nice to see her in pants, separates, and prints. Her floral blouse is in a nice brown that pops with bright reds and yellows. Also Beckham just oozes fashion that she manages to make these high-waisted bell bottom jeans high fashionable and not mom-jeany (sorry Anne Hathaway).
Takeaway: High-waisted jeans are not for everybody so if you are self-conscious about your derrière or your tummy you might want to stay away. However bell bottom or flare jeans are actually flattering to most body types so they are a safer bet when you want to change up the types of jeans you wear.

TREND: Embellished collars
If there’s an opportunity to add a bit of an edge to a rather conservative piece of clothing, I’ll always take it. Embellished collars usually do the trick. Studs on a good oxford or pearls on a peter pan collar make a statement on their own. You can also wear a collar necklace if you want the same effect, without the bulk of the shirt on a hot summer’s day.
