Greyson Chance, the teen singer/songwriter who became a YouTube sensation with a cover of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi,’ has announced that his debut album will be released in August.

The album, titled ‘Hold On ‘Til the Night,’ will be released on Aug. 2 through Ellen DeGeneres’ eleveneleven record label, in tandem with Maverick/Geffen.

Chance stopped by ‘Ellen’ today to announce the release date and perform his new single, ‘Unfriend You.’

“When all this first started… they started putting me in the studio and I was cutting records, and it was a mixture of being excited and being very nervous,” says Chance. “I didn’t really know who I was at this moment, so I took this record to evolve into myself and put myself in my music. And also, I was going through a heartbreak at the time, and that’s where most of the lyrics come from. This record really helped me gain courage and strength, and for the fans, I hope they gain courage and strength from it as well.”

Chance recently wrapped a co-headlining tour with fellow teen star Cody Simpson, and recently shot a music video for ‘Unfriend You’ that he says will include “an artistic piano scene” as well as a lot of silly string. Chance says that he has a few things left to tweak on the full-length, and will return to Los Angeles next month to finish it up with producers The Matrix and Ron Fair.

“I’m gonna be yelling at the producers going, ‘Noo, turn that drum up, turn that drum down!’ and they’re gonna be going, ‘No, you’re 13, shut up!’” he says with a laugh. “It’s all in good fun… we have so much fun in the studio and they really respect what I’m trying to do with my music, and I respect them as well.”

Am I the only one who finds it ridiculously funny that he’s writing about “heartbreak” at the age of 13? It seems like we have another Justin Bieber on our hands – prepare yourself, world.

It’s been three years since he last released something, which by today’s standards makes a new record long overdue.  Oh yeah, and he’s dead.  Fourteen years after his death, 2Pac is coming out with another new album.

WIDEawake Entertainment Group, who acquired the label that helped 2Pac rise to fame, Death Row Records, last year, is planning on putting out a new album from the late rapper, reports CHARTattack.com.

John Payne, president of WIDEawake, told Vibe magazine that the new record will feature songs recorded from 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me era.

“This is unreleased 2Pac… no remastering or remixing,” he said, continuing, “I believe that these songs could have been 2Pac’s next record if he were still alive.”

So far, the new album doesn’t have a release date, but if you’re in the mood for some 2Pac, you’ve got some options:  You can check out one of the six albums that were released before his death in 1996, or one of the seventeen studio albums, live records, rarities collections, and of course the greatest hits records that have been released after he died.

Piano songstress Regina Spektor is set to release her third major-label album, “Far,” early this summer.

The 13-track album, the follow-up to 2006′s “Begin To Hope,” will hit store shelves on June 23 via Sire Records. The first single will be a track called “Laughing With.”

Spektor sought the talents of four different producers for the new album: Jeff Lynne (ELO, The Traveling Wilburys), Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem), David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes) and Garret “Jacknife” Lee (Weezer, REM). In a recent interview with Pitchfork, the singer/songwriter/pianist was asked if she was worried about creating a cohesive sound with such varied producers.

“I’m pretty much stuck sounding like myself so it’s going to be cohesive, in a way,” she said. “And matching producers with songs was done kind of thoughtlessly – it wasn’t like I was sitting there thinking, ‘Well, this person would make more sense with this song.’ I didn’t do research or anything like that. It’s almost like throwing stuff on the floor and seeing how it lands, you know?”

Spektor plans to launch a worldwide tour in support of “Far,” though dates have yet to be announced.

Since the breakout success of ”Begin To Hope,” Spektor has contributed songs to several projects, including the compilation album “Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur” and the 2008 film “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.”

Get ready for a new sound from Norah Jones.

Jones’ indie rock band, El Madmo, has just been signed to the label Team Love. According to Exclaim!, the band will be releasing an album on May 20.

Jones adopts a pseudonym and blonde wig when performing with the El Madmo. On their MySpace, the band has written this colourful description of themselves: Born of social ineptitude and an ageless belief in trick-or-treatery, EL MADMO offers escape, justice, karmic postulation, and that feeling you get when you know something that no one else does. Starting out as a garage band trapped in the basements of various hockey arenas, their is a powerfully raw sound that could only be inspired by the smell of Zamboni fuel and sweaty skates. The band consists of guitarist/singer, Maddie, bassist/singer, El, and majestically afroed drummer, Mo. Their self-titled debut album is a solid piece of body rocking ear-munition revealing a musical labyrinth that challenges you to, “Choose your own adventure.” From the Aeolian darkness of “Vampire Guy”, to the sassy cha-cha of “Fantasy Guy”, to a song that simply asks, “What good is a smile when your head’s in a vise?”, EL MADMO serves up a hot and tasty meal that’ll fill you up and also “Rock Yer Balls Off.”
