Miley Cyrus is making a difference in Haiti by helping the Starkey Hearing Foundation hand out hearing aids.

“This second mission to Haiti was just as impactful to me as the first one,” said Cyrus. “I grew up around music and couldn’t imagine what it would be like for my siblings and me, if we couldn’t hear the magic of music. It’s had such an influence on my life, that I just want everyone to enjoy sound as it was intended.”

Miley is proving she is grounded and has a caring side.

John Mayer’s Back To You Fund has donated $15,000 to Family Centers’ Stamford CARES program. The organization provides support for HIV and AIDs patients.

“With fewer and fewer state and federal dollars being allocated to HIV/AIDS education and support, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to provide our clients the service they desperately need,” Bob Arnold, president of Family Centers, said in a release.

The Back To You Fund receives a percentage of money John earns from his live shows.

The Game just keeps causing controversy. In a recent interview with VLADTV, the rapper said that closeted gay men spread aids.

He explains that he has no problem with homosexuals, except those who pretend to be straight and sleep with women.

Game says, “The #1 issue with that is you could be fooling somebody and you could give them AIDS and they can die … and that s**t spreads because that girl you might be fooling might leave you and go find another dude who ain’t gay and give him the disease.”

So basically he is saying all gay men have aids. This guy is just digging a very deep hole for himself.

Despite glorifying sexual pleasures in her music, Lady Gaga is living a celibate lifestyle and is encouraging her fans to follow her example, reports MTV News.

Gaga’s self-imposed sex ban is a result of her not having the time to get to know anybody.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this – don’t have sex,” Gaga said, while visiting England to promote MAC’s Viva Glam campaign.  The campaign supports global HIV and AIDS projects.

“So it’s OK not to have sex, it’s OK to get to know people,” Gaga said.  “I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine.”

Gaga’s other reason for promoting her celibacy message is because of the steady rise in the rate of HIV infection among women worldwide, while the overall rate among men has continued to decline.

“The rate of infection worldwide is higher than ever for women in our particular demographic,” Gaga said, referring to women aged 17-24 and 38-56.

Gaga also says, speaking to the fans, that if you are not ready for sex, don’t do it.

“And if you are ready, there are free condoms given away at my concerts when you’re leaving,” Gaga said.  “I remember the cool girls when I was growing up.  Everyone started to have sex.  But it’s not really cool anymore to have sex all the time.  It’s cooler to be strong and independent.”

It appears as though David Beckham is already getting settled comfortable in South Africa.

The soccer legend met with young players and coaches in Khayelithsa, Cape Town yesterday (December 3) to lend a helping hand to the Coaching for Hope program. The session, arranged by the English Football Association, was an importnat part of its “International Development Program” (IDP).

Perezhilton.com published this quote from the soccer sensation:

“It is amazing to visit a project like this and see the effect football has on young people. Football has the power to change lives and these youngsters are able to learn valuable lessons through their love of the game.

Aids is a very real problem in places like Khaylitsha and football must ensure it does whatever it can to help educate young people of its dangers and make a difference.”

The program teaches local soccer coaches and youth workers to assist them in gaining the knowledge and skill to inform the youth in their communities to deal with and prevent HIV and substance abuse issues.

Beckham is in South Africa  to attend the World Cup draw ceremony in Cape Town, but it’s nice to see high-profile athletes exposing the issues that need to be resolved in their poor communities.

Kelly Rowland has officially been appointed 2008 Ambassador for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.

The foundation empowers young people who are working to eliminate HIV and AIDS in their communities.

“I am honoured to work with The Staying Alive Foundation in its mission to transform attitudes to HIV and AIDS around the world,” the Destiny’s Child alum commented in a press release. “The Foundation continues to recognize and reward young people whose relentless mission is to encourage, educate and empower their peers in the fight against HIV and AIDS. I am excited to be a part of this remarkable initiative and look forward to supporting Staying Alive in all its efforts to change the prevailing culture of ignorance which fosters and perpetuates this disease.”

Rowland will kick off her first solo tour and new role simultaneously, when she visits Africa in June. There she will visit tour some of the grassroots projects supported by the Foundation.

Her new album, ‘Ms Kelly Deluxe’, will be released May 12.

Elton John is in the news again, but not for the reason you think

John received 100,000 pounds in libel damages from a British newspaper which said he acted like a “tinpot dictator” when he ordered guests at a charity function not to approach him.

“The articles falsely alleged that Sir Elton had issued a bizarre and absurd edict to guests … ordering them not to approach him … thereby acting like old-fashioned royalty or some tinpot dictator and exhibiting self-important, arrogant and rude behavior bordering on paranoia,” Nigel Tait, John’s attorney, said in court.

John donated the funds to the Elton John AIDS foundation. It was the second time this year the singer has won a libel suit against a British newspaper.

Naomi Watts has joined the UN in its fight against AIDS, according to Reuters.

Watts, an Oscar-nominated actress recently seen in the remake of King Kong, said she “could not sit around and watch people die.”

She was recently appointed special representative for UNAIDS, which is the UN department that deals directly with the AIDS crisis in countries in Africa.

Watts was at a news conference in New York showcasing the UN?s new AIDS awareness campaign called ?4-for-everyone? which focuses on prevention, treatment, care and support.

Watts is not the only celebrity to get on board with the UN. She follows in the footsteps of Michael Douglas, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Danny Glover.
