Aerosmith is heading back in the studio to begin working on their long-delayed new album, reports Billboard.

Not that frontman Steven Tyler is done with ‘American Idol’ for the season, he has plenty of time to work on his own stuff. The singer and his four bandmates plan to reunite next month with producer Jack Douglas, guitarist Joe Perry says.

“Whole band has plans to go into the studio with Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aero CD,” Perry tweeted.

The album will be recorded in a Massachusetts studio the band built six years ago. This will be the band’s newest materiel since 2001′s ‘Just Push Play.’

The band has delayed recording due to several reasons, like health problems rising among the members or Tyler’s pushing desire to go solo.

It’s about time – I doubt their new stuff will be as good as the classics, but I’m sure they’ll be back with some fresh stuff!

‘American Idol’ judge and ‘Aerosmith’ frontman Steven Tyler has revealed that he once had sex with a man during his wild youth.

The rocker notoriously enjoyed flings with female groupies at the height of his band’s fame, but despite having four kids and two ex-wives, the star has admitted in his new memoir that he once had a same-sex fling.

In his new memoir, ‘Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?,’ he reveals,”Gay sex just doesn’t do it for me. I tried it one time when I was younger, but I just didn’t dig it.”

Despite this revelation, Tyler says he liked to keep things clean in the bedroom. “As dirty as my mind is, my body’s pretty clean. Kelly (a member of the Aerosmith entourage) always made sure the girls were in the shower when I got in the room. I liked my pulchritude pristine! I can’t kiss a girl that’s been stage diving with 500 other guys.”

Hey, if he can be open and honest about it, power to him. I love that his memoir is not the usual don’t-reveal-anything celebrity memoirs. He actually divulges shocking information, and shares things. And we like new information.

Steven Tyler admits to taking the judge gig on “American Idol” to show his fellow band mates in Aerosmith that he wouldn’t be ”held hostage” after they threatened to kick him out of the band.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tyler opens up about the controversy. “Did I take this job to show the band? F**k, yeah. Not to show them, but that I can’t be held hostage anymore. I will be my own hostage. The band can’t throw me out.”

Tyler also confesses also to going on a drug binge with Joe Perry as an attempt to write a new album. ”Joe was high and he couldn’t play … I couldn’t sing, really, because I was snorting everything, and it f**ks up your throat. It was the wrong time.”

Perez Hilton is reporting that Mariah Carey is in negotiations to become a judge for the upcoming season of American Idol.

The ratings-owning singing competition is restructuring its judging table this year, after Kara DioGuardi was let go and Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres stepped down.

There’s only one spot left to fill as Randy Jackson and (likely) Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler already have places at the table.  Although it was reported that Jennifer Lopez was very close to getting the spot as the third judge, Mariah Carey might be a better option for the show.

Although nothing is official, sources tell Perez Hilton that Mariah “wants it” and that “she’s seen what America’s Got Talent has done for [Nick Cannon] and thinks it will be a good career move.”

Aerosmith has announced the entire band – including frontman Steven Tyler – will participate in their “Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock” European tour this summer, reports CBC. This comes after public squabbling and threats of a lineup change.

“I just auditioned and I got the gig,” jokes Tyler in a promotional video featuring him sitting with his band mates. “We’re coming your way and rocking your world! Look out, because here we come.”

The band has been on hiatus since Tyler injured himself falling off stage during a show last August. They were forced to cancel the rest of their tour.

In December, Tyler checked himself into rehab for a pain killer addiction.

“Everything right now in Aero-land is very copacetic,” said band member Joey Kramer. “We will carry on and do what we do best. The one common denominator that we still all have is that we all love to get up on stage and rock out, play music and bring joy to people. And we let the other drama, as of late, kind of filter itself out by the wayside and concentrate on more of what’s important, which is the playing and the business at hand.”

Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock begins June 10 in Sweden.

It’s recently been a rough go for Steven Tyler and Aerosmith since the rockers have been toying with the idea of breaking up for the past six months now. MTV news, however, has reported they have put those ideas to rest and are planning tour dates for this upcoming summer. Guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Joey Kramer confirmed the news via twitter.

“We are looking to crossing the big pond with Aerosmith this summer for some rockin’ festivals,” Perry tweeted on Tuesday.

Kramer followed the next day, “Aerosmith is back!”

The “rockin” festivals include a gig in England and Sweden. Billboard magazine reported that the band will be adding a number of European dates to its summer line-up after confirming a spot at England’s Download Festival in June of this year.

After months of public bickering and reports that the group was possibly looking to replace Tyler, it seems the long-time-running rock group has put their differences aside for now. Aside from Download Festival on June 13, the group is scheduled to play at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10, and a U.K. spokesperson is saying to look out for more European dates for the band. Aerosmith has also been offered South American tour dates, but no shows have been confirmed yet.

Replacing Tyler would not be a clever move for the group as Download promoter Andy Copping of Live nation U.K. believes.

“There’s no Aerosmith without Steven Tyler,” he said. “There’s no point in entertaining anything other than (with) Steven Tyler.” He added that booking the band without Tyler was “never part of the conversation” with Aerosmith’s management.

In October after announcing an indefinite hiatus, it seemed positive that the band was at a near breakup; especially after Perry tweeted a month later they were looking for a new lead singer. Only one day later Tyler was back onstage with Perry in New Orleans. He proved that rumor wrong, however a month after that the 61-year-old checked himself into rehab for painkiller addiction, which made fans nervous about a possible breakup. Sounds like they are stable for now.

Was Aerosmith’s front man Steven Tyler lost during his last performance? Most celebrities do not do performances at the local Home Depot, but Steven Tyler is apparently not like most celebrities. According to People magazine, Tyler visited a Home Depot in Rancho Mirage, Calif., last Saturday, where he jumped on the p.a. system and sang hits like “Dude Looks like a lady” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”

The sixty-one-year-old announced in December that he had entered rehab for an addiction to prescription painkillers and pain management.

Home Depot shoppers weren’t the only lucky customers to get a free concert from the infamous singer; he also joined in on some karaoke at the Tiltet Kilt, a Palm Desert pub. Two singers were booed during their rendition of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” so  Tyler grabbed the mic and gave the song a better, more professional ending.

The odd performances have led people to believe the star has completed his treatment, but Tyler is still in rehab.

“Steven Tyler has completed the first 30 days of intensive sobriety treatment and is now in a 90-day residential day treatment program,” Eric Sherman, the president of Tenth Street Entertainment, Tyler’s management company, tells People.

A source says Tyler “has privileges to leave the grounds” and the reason for his Home Depot trip was simple: “he was shopping.”

People magazine wrote:

Sherman says the singer is “a performer 24/7 – whether he’s on stage, at the Home Depot or singing karaoke,” and adds, “We are all really proud of Steven’s continuing successful therapy and look forward to the day he returns to the stage and recording studio with Aerosmith to make new music for the fans.”

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has hopes to rejoin with Tyler in the future, “I’m ready to write with him, to play on stage with him anytime he’s physically ready and wants to do it.”

Whether or not Steven Tyler will be performing with Aerosmith anytime soon, he’s still found a way to sing his band’s songs. As rollingstone.com reported, based on Palm Springs, California’s The Desert Sun, Tyler and his management team visited the Tilted Kilt pub earlier this week.

When the group arrived at the pub, Tyler’s publicist reportedly told the night’s emcee that Tyler would not be taking part in karaoke and that no photos were to be taken of the rock star. But of course, both things happened.

As the story goes, two patrons went up on stage to sing Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” with a promise that their rendition of the song would “totally suck.” It did suck, so much in fact that the duo was booed off stage in the middle of the song. It was then that Tyler, wanting to redeem his Armageddon song, took to the stage.

“All of a sudden, near the end of the song, [Tyler] grabbed the mic and started singing. The whole frickin’ bar surrounded him and he just started singing the whole thing,” the night’s emcee, Mike “Kermie DJ” May, told the Desert Sun. “Karaoke will never get better than that.” May also managed to grab a photo of Tyler singing his own song. As the crowd began texting everyone they knew and relaying what had just transpired, Tyler and his entourage made a quick exit to avoid the inevitable arrival of even more fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer.

Tyler entered a rehab facility last month to treat an addiction to prescription painkillers.

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has entered rehab to treat an addiction to prescription painkillers, reports rollingstone.com.

“With the help of my family and team of medical professionals I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford,” Tyler said in a statement.

Tyler also cleared up some rumors which stated that he was going to take a two-year break from the band.

“I wish to set the record straight and say that I have read reports of a rumored two-year hiatus and want to be clear that this is completely false and I will enthusiastically be writing, recording and performing with Aerosmith as soon as things are handled.”

In early August, Tyler fell off the stage during a show in South Dakota, forcing the band to cancel the remainder of its summer tour. In November, Tyler’s bandmate Brad Whitford told Rolling Stone he thought Tyler didn’t “act like a sober person,” adding that “I’m not hanging with the guy, but his history of drug abuse is well documented.”

The 61-year-old rock singer last entered rehab in May, 2008 to deal with pain caused by foot surgery.

“Over the past 10 years, Steven Tyler has suffered orthopedic injuries and has been in severe chronic pain which will require further surgeries on his knees and feet,” said Dr. Brian McKeon, a physician from the New England Baptist Hospital who has treated Tyler. “Managing and controlling his pain has been challenging and despite our use of alternative therapies and the creation of custom shoes built by a team of engineers from Timberland, Steven’s pain has progressed. The balance between managing his pain and avoiding addiction is tenuous and difficult and his bravery in persevering through rigorous touring is admirable. As with many athletes, Steven put his performance first as he struggled with acute pain for years.”

Tyler’s daughter, actor Liv Tyler, also issued a statement showing support for her dad. “He is a courageous man,” she said. “We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans.”

For the loud-mouthed nature of Aerosmith’s frontman Steven Tyler, the news that he has quit the band is being kept pretty quiet. So quiet even Joe Perry, his bandmate of 40 years, hardly knows what’s going on, according to the Guardian UK.

Perry told the Las Vegas Sun, “Steven quit as far as I can tell.”

The speculation follows a statement from Tyler to Classic Rock Magazine that he is embarking on a new project, that is working on “Brand Tyler.”

There is no news on the band’s website, but Perry took to Twitter to lament the loss of his frontman.

“Hasn’t called me in months. A bit cold. What about fans? The people that also love him and put him where he is. After 40 years? …Last time I phoned him he hung up on me,” Perry wrote.

Despite the fact that Tyler’s pitch yowl is the glue of the 70s rock band, Perry says Aerosmith will live on, going so far as to say they will replace the frontman.

“We’ll probably find somebody else, and then we’ll be able to move Aerosmith up a notch,” Perry told the Las Vegas Sun.

Band relations have been strained for months now, after Tyler broke his shoulder falling off the stage at a show in Abu Dhabi in August. Perry complained Tyler hasn’t been giving 100 per cent for a long time.

“Frankly, the last few months I’ve been wanting not to rock the boat,” Perry told the Sun. ”I don’t want him cancelling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We didn’t want to call him out or get him pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie.”

Tyler has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

Two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will hit the road together for a massive North American tour this summer.

Aerosmith and ZZ Top have announced dates and cities for the three-month trek, which begins June 10 in St. Louis and runs through Sept. 16 in Detroit. The schedule includes stops in Toronto (Sept. 3) and Ottawa (Sept. 5).

More than 30 shows have been confirmed, with additional dates to come.

“I have always been a huge fan of ZZ Top,” Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry said in a statement. “I toured with them with the Joe Perry Project, and those shows were unforgettable. With ZZ Top on this bill, it will definitely kick us into overdrive.”

The tour, which is sponsored by “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith,” will be headlined only by Aerosmith for the first two shows, with ZZ Top joining up on June 16 in Boston for the rest of the dates. A third act will also be announced for stops in Virginia Beach, VA and Chicago.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has promised to reveal “outrageous stories” in his upcoming memoirs.

The 60-year-old singer will release the as-yet-untitled autobiography through HarperCollins imprint Ecco next year.

In a statement, Tyler said the book, which will cover his childhood in the Bronx, his music career and his romantic life, will include “all the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex and drugs, transcendence and chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.”

“And this is not just my take, this is the unbridled truth, the in-your-face, up-close and prodigious tale of Steven Tyler straight from the horse’s lips,” he said.

Ecco publisher Daniel Halperin, a self-described longtime Aerosmith fan, will edit the book.

Tyler and his fellow band members previously came out with a memoir titled “Walk This Way: The Autobiography of Aerosmith” in 2003.

The group is known for hits like “Dream On” and “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” but has also gained notoriety for their hard-partying lifestyle and drug use.

Tyler kicked hard drugs 20 years ago and has since spoken out in support of sober living.

Aerosmith fans can now channel their inner Steven Tyler with a brand new Guitar Hero videogame completely dedicated to the legendary rock group’s songs.

“Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” will follow in the footsteps of the “Guitar Hero,” “Karaoke Revolution” and “Rock Band” franchises, according to MTV News.

While the track list is currently under wraps, a press release did hint that the group’s famous ditties, “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” “Love in an Elevator,” “Dream On,” and “Sweet Emotion” will be available for gamers to rock out to.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler is set to reveal that he has been battling hepatitis C ever since being diagnosed with the viral disease three years ago.

The revelation came in an interview with Access Hollywood, set to air Tuesday night.

According to the New York Daily News, Tyler sayd that he contracted the infection several years earlier but had not experienced any symptoms. After being diagnosed, he underwent an aggressive treatment regimine of pills and antiviral drug injections.

“I’ve been pretty quiet about this,” says Tyler, adding that the treatment has been very successful. “It is nonexistent in my bloodstream…where it’s like a complete cure.”

Though there is, in fact, no known cure or vaccine for hepatitis C, it can be managed and reduced in the bloodstream through treatment with strong antiviral drugs that boost the immune system. Drug addicts are plagued by the disease, as it is often transmitted through dirty needles.

No details have been revealed on how Tyler picked up the disease, though he has a history of drug addiction.

Tyler also said that he will work to raise awareness about the virus.

“Hepatitis C is the one that, of all the people in this room, at least three have it and don’t know it,” he says. “It’s the silent killer. I may go on Oprah and talk about this. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning that.”

Tom Hamilton, bassist for aging rock band Aerosmith, has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Reuters reports that the 54-year-old has just wrapped up seven weeks of radiation treatment, and is expected to rejoin the band’s tour by mid-October.

For the time being, David Hull will fill in for Hamilton on Aerosmith’s upcoming fall tour with Motley Crue. Hull has previously played with the band’s guitarist Joe Perry in the ’70s.

It’s not the first medical issue to hit Aerosmith this year. In the spring, front-man Steven Tyler underwent experimental yet successful surgery to repair a broken blood vessel on his right vocal cord.

It’s a clash of rock titans as Aerosmith and Motley Crue prepare to hit the road – together. The two bands will embark on their first joint U.S. tour this fall.

The “Route of All Evil” tour kicks off Sept. 14 in Holmdel, N.J. and runs to Nov. 24 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Fans can purchase pre-sale tickets now through Aerosmith’s Aero Force One fan club.

A mystery illness plaguing Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has forced the band to cancel a string of dates on its current North American tour.

No details have been released about Tyler’s health.

“I know there’s illness in the camp,” said Shazila Mohammed, Aerosmith’s tour press director, in a statement. “Beyond that, I can’t say.”

The band has bowed out of shows since March 4, when they were scheduled to take the stage at the Civic Arena in Pensacola, Fla.

“The show was here, there were 18 trucks and 13 buses and everything was ready to go,” civic center spokesperson Cyndee Pennington told the Pensacola News Journal. “But Aerosmith wasn’t even in town. But their tour manager was in the venue and he told us.”

Their next scheduled performance for March 7 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. was again cancelled, 15 minutes before the band’s flight was to land at the local airport. They reportedly returned to Aerosmith’s hometown of Boston, and did not make Thursday’s show in Manchester, N.H. On Friday, the band announced it was also cancelling Sunday’s appearance in Hershey, Pa.

There are no plans to reschedule any of the shows. Refunds for the tickets are available at point of purchase.

The band’s next date is set for March 15 at the Wachovia Arenia in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The “Rockin’ The Joint” Tour closes April 9 in Vancouver.
