“I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans, from the end of World War I in 1918 into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, “Benjamin Button,” is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

All-Star Cast Tapped To Play Greek Gods

Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Kevin McKidd, Sean Bean and Melina Kanakaredes have signed on to play classical Greek gods in the fantasy-adventure “Percy Jackson.”

The Fox 2000 flick is being directed by Chris Columbus (“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”), who also co-adapted the screenplay from the best-selling children’s novel “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan.

The book, which draws from Greek mythology, follows Poseidon’s half-human son Percy on his “quest across modern America to prevent a war among the gods,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Logan Lerman (“3:10 to Yuma”) has already been cast as Percy, while Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson have been tapped as the other leads.

Appearing as the gods of Mount Olympus will be Brosnan as Chiron, Thurman as Medusa, Bean as Zeus, McKidd as Poseidon and Kanakaredes as Athena.

The movie is shooting in Vancouver for a February 2010 release.

It could mark the beginning of a “Harry Potter”-esque film franchise, as “Lightning Thief” is the first of five novels in Riordan’s series. The fifth and final book, “The Last Olympian,” is due in stores in May.

Duped Bachelorette Melissa Rycroft Will Dance With The Stars

Melissa Rycroft has gone from one reality tv series to the next. Jilted by Jason Mesnick on the season finale of The Bachelor, Rycroft will rebound on the hit show – Dancing With the Stars, People has learned.

Rycroft originally received the coveted proposal from Mesnick, and was publicly dumped six weeks later for the runner-up bachelorette, Molly Malaney. According to tvwatch.com, Mesnick is not proud of what he had to do. “After we got back into the real world, all of a sudden, we had less to talk about and I didn’t know why. I started thinking wow, what’s happening? Why aren’t we communicating the way we did when the show was going on … There was part of me that wanted things to work out with Melissa so bad. But the whole other piece was I had these crazy feelings for Molly.”

Rycroft, 25, is to fill the slot vacated by Access Hollywood host Nany O’Dell, who had to withdraw from the competition on March 5 due to a knee injury. A source close to the production stated the the Dallas beauty is expected to perform live on the Monday premiere of the show.

A spokesperson for ABC declined to comment.
