Who knew Tilda Swinton was Snow White in disguise?
Surprising visitors at the MoMA, the actress will be taking up residency in New York’s MoMA this month on random days. As a MoMA source tells the Gothamist, ”Museum staff doesn’t know she’s coming until the day of, but she’s here today. She’ll be there the whole day. All that’s in the box is cushions and a water jug.”
“Tilda Swinton will be doing unannounced, random performance art pieces sleeping in a glass box in the museum,” the source added. “Today is the first performance. Each performance lasts the whole day the museum is open.”
Titled “The Maybe”, Swinton first performed the piece in London in 1995 at the Serpentine Gallery. She has also performed the piece in the Museo Barracco in Rome.
I’ll be lying if I said I understood performance art, but I suppose this is significantly better than Yoko Ono’s take at it.
P.S. What will Tilda do if she needs to use the washroom?!!!!
Just when you thought Tina Fey called it quits with Sarah Palin, she brings back her impression of the former governor for our enjoyment.
Fey has been asked numerous times to do her famous impression of the politician but has said no. She even shot down the opportunity during this year’s Golden Globes saying that it was gone. It took an appearance on Inside the Actor Studio and its host James Lipton to get her to go back into the mindset of Sarah Palin.
As usual, Fey killed it. She satirized the conservative view on same sex marriage and gun control, and even doled out a little fashion advice concerning Palin’s famous ‘do (“Well, I’m a fan of the bump-it.”).
Tina Fey, you are my hero.
Step aside, Willow Smith. Jadagrace is in the building!
The 13-year-old was discovered by Redfoo of LMFAO and her first single entitled “Run Dat Back,” on iTunes today. Not only is she sassy and adorable, she can also dance AND act. She definitely has all the makings of a mini pop princess!
I love love LOVE her! I just wish I had this much talent when I was 13…
Check out the pint-sized star’s song here:
The Situation is taking his G-T-L to the suburbs.
The Jersey Shore star is set to play himself in an episode of the NBC comedy Suburbatory. He’ll be seen DJing at a high-school school dance. I’m sure the extras on the set will be excited about that.
Situation is following in the footsteps of Vinny, who was recently seen on 90210, playing an arrogant Hollywood actor. It wasn’t anything to write home about, though. Vinny could have used some acting classes, as I’m sure the Situation will desperately need too. Although he did appear on a season of Dancing with the Stars, it wasn’t necessarily “acting”.
The Gossip Cop says the episode staring the guido should air sometime next year.
We all know singers crossover on to television at one point or another.
Kelly Clarkson, of American Idol fame, has been seen and heard everywhere lately to promote her new album Stronger. The other day the Idol champ took to her blog to mention her desire to appear on the NBC hit sitcom Parks & Recreation.
“It’s hilarious! I am a bad actress but maybe I could play a bad actress! I would nail that! I need to be in a scene with Ron Swanson. I love all of them but the trucker stache gets me every time,” she wrote.
The first time Kelly Clarkson got bit by the acting bug was in 2003 when her and Idol runner-up Justin whats-his-face-no-one-really-cared-about-him starred in the summer flop From Justin To Kelly. That movie tanked at the box office faster than Lindsay Lohan at a coke buffet. But now, it seems Kelly Clarkson is looking back in laughter, realizing she made a bad call. Good on her for owning up to her failures!
Kelly is a very sweet, bubbly girl and she would indeed perk up the NBC show. Lots of famous stars have made a cameo on Amy Phoeler’s show, including comedian Louis C.K. and basketball legend Detlef Schrempf. I’m sure the Parks and Rec department can make a little room for an American Idol contestant in the near future.
Taylor Swift is teasing the world that she has some surprise projects stored up for 2012, but she isn’t going into any real detail.
She told MTV News she’s working on “some surprise projects that may or may not happen, and possibly some acting.”
“I’ve just been so excited about what’s gonna happen in the next year,” she said. “I’m also really excited about [the next album]. I’ve been writing all the time. I’ve been writing so much for the new record. I can’t believe I’m saying that already: It comes out in a year, but I’m already excited about it.”
What do you think her 2012 plans are going to be? Is it acting?
Drake sat down with MTV News recently to talk about his SNL appearance. During the interview, Drake revealed that he wants to relaunch his acting career.
“I’m eager to act. I’m eager to make people laugh or, you know, accept a dramatic role. I’m just excited to get back into that. I miss it,” he shared, crediting the “SNL” cast and atmosphere as even more reasons behind his yearning for film.
He also has the help of the William Morris Agency to get his acting career going.
“We’re just building up our relationship, so I’m excited to get back into it. I found a home and I feel very proud of where I’m at and I’m excited to move forward and start getting back out there, man,” he admitted. “Whatever projects there are available, I’m down.”
Below is a clip from Drake’s start on Degrassi The Next Generation. Do you think he can act?
Things in Hollywood either make no complete sense or absolute sense. Fred Durst starring in a CBS sitcom titled Douchebag falls in the latter category.
The Limp Bizkit frontman is clearly stretching his acting abilities by playing a rockstar trying to balance work with family. Wow, I can smell an Emmy! (I hope readers can smell my sarcasm.)
According to Deadline, Durst’s manager, John Schneider, came up with the storyline and will work as a non-writing producer for the soon-to-be cancelled show.
If this show lasts longer than the brilliant Clone High did, there will be hell to pay.
Vinny Guadagnino from Jersey Shore is expanding into acting. The GTL expert will have a guest starting role on CW’s 90210.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms Vinny will be appearing on an episode that airs in November. He’s playing a young, talkative, celebrity who loves the trappings of his fame. Guadagnino’s character will go head-to-head with Liam (Matt Lanter) in a poker game when the cast goes to Vegas.
If 50 Cent is going to expand into movies, why can’t Rihanna? Rihanna has been cast in her first feature film role.
Rihanna will be appearing in Battleship, a film adaptation of the popular board game. She plays a tough Navy sailor who helps protect the world from invading aliens.
“We worked with real military people, you know, people in the Navy, people who have fought in Iraq before,” she told UGO.com in a long interview about the film. “They pretty much came and drilled me. This one man, Donald, he pretty much drilled me, yelled at me, cursed me, ‘Ow!’ Made me do pushups.”
However, Rihanna stayed with the training.
“I really want to say, ‘F*ck you’ right back, but then he probably would have thrown me through the window!” she joked. “I was so scared I just stood there and looked at him like, ‘I swear I’m going to get it right, I swear, I swear, I swear I’ll be good.’”
It seems like an unlikely lunch date, but we have photo evidence that Goldie Hawn had lunch with 50 Cent.
50 posted a picture of him and Goldie during their lunch yesterday. With the pic he said, “I had lunch with Goldie Hawn she is complete sweetheart.”
The Urban Daily’s theory on this lunch was 50′s desire to grow his acting career. 50 has made it clear he wants to take acting seriously, and who better to advise him then Hollywood royalty like Goldie Hawn.
Anderson Cooper ripped Chris Brown for his newest acting role. Chris will be acting in a new romantic comedy called Think Like A Man, and Anderson doesn’t think he’s best suited for the role given his troubles with women.
“Chris Brown has the romance thing down, but remember this movie is a romance comedy which is perfect because the only thing that Chris Brown does better than romance is comedy… Remember a few months ago when Chris Brown trashed the place , broke a window, scared the hair and makeup people…that was hilarious. It was also kind of romantic when you think about it because if you remember his violent meltdown was inspired by a you guessed it; a lady, Robin Roberts.”
Anderson – that was actually pretty funny. Well played sir.
The Academy Awards will now allow between five and 10 best picture nominees, reports CTV.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced yesterday that the number of nominees will be dictated by voting. In order to be nominated, a film will need a minimum of 5 per cent first-place votes.
In 2009, the Oscars expanded the best picture nominees from 5 to 10, but now, the number of nominees has been changed again after analyzing the voting from the last two years.
Retiring Academy executive director Bruce Davis recommended the change, saying:
“In studying the data, what stood out was that Academy members had regularly shown a strong admiration for more than five movies,” said Davis. “A best picture nomination should be an indication of extraordinary merit. If there are only eight pictures that truly earn that honor in a given year, we shouldn’t feel an obligation to round out the number.”
The unknown number of nominees will add a new sense of mystery to the awards too, as filmmakers don’t know how many spots they are vying for. The nominations for the 84th annual Academy Awards will be announced January 24.
I personally think 10 was too much, so I like this idea. Nominate as many movies that deserve it, not just because they need 10 spots. Hopefully this means the award show will be shorter, too, as less people are nominated.
Justin Timberlake has revealed that smoking pot helps him relax in an otherwise stressful career, reports Digital Spy.
The singer-turned-actor says he “absolutely” does pot to relieve himself of stressful situations and worries.
“The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking. Sometimes I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are just better high,” says Timberlake to Playboy Magazine.
As for music, Timberlake says he isn’t ready to return as he lacks the creative energy to create a new album.
“I don’t have a single song ready to go… People keep asking me when a new song or album is coming out, and I don’t know what to say.”
“Music is not my focus right now. It may be someday. It could happen next month or next year but right now it’s not where it’s at for me.”
Timberlake is now focusing on his acting career, where he will star alongside Cameron Diaz in ‘Bad Teacher,’ which is released on June 24.
Hey, whatever calms you down and makes you productive. As long as he doesn’t get all crazy and out of control, then it’s fine by me.
‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson is enrolling at Oxford University, reports CTV.
After quitting Brown University in April, the actress will now study English at the prestigious British university in October.
Watson said she found it difficult trying to juggle filming, modelling and studying at Brown.
“Recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible,” says Brown. ”I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on ‘Harry Potter’ and to focus on my other projects.”
Now that she has a little more free time since ‘Potter’ filming is done, Brown can focus more on her studies. Since she has lived in Oxfordshire practically her whole life, she will probably find it much easier to attend Oxford as well.
Watson said she underestimated how famous she was at Brown, saying “I was in denial. I wanted to pretend I wasn’t as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I’m in and what happened.”
Good for her for sticking with school, though. I can imagine how difficult it must be with a full-time career, but she seems smart enough to pull it off.
Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson has been cast as a nun in ‘The Three Stooges,’ reports Billboard.
In 20th Century Fox’s ‘The Three Stooges,’ produced by the Farrelly brothers, the former ‘Idol’ contestant will play one of the nuns in the orphanage where the Stooges spend their time.
This isn’t Hudson’s first time on the big screen. She previously won an Oscar for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in ‘Dreamgirls,’ which co-stared Beyonce.
Hudson will join a cast of Chris Diamontopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso as the three stooges, while Larry David, Stephen Collins and Glee’s Jane Lynch will also star in the film.
This is kind of a random role, but I’m sure she will pull it off – she is an Oscar winner, after all. I wonder if she will do any singing in it. Artists always have clever ways of plugging their songs or voice into the movies they star in.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s record deal plans have “fizzled out,” reports Contract Music.
The 38-year-old actress began her foray into music by playing the troubled country singer in the film ‘Country Strong,’ then going on to do more singing on several guest spots on ‘Glee.’
But Atlantic Records, who originally were interested in Paltrow, are now said to have cooled their interest in getting her to record for them.
A source says “Atlantic bosses were very interested, and [Atlantic owner] Lyor Cohen was very supportive. But then the talks halted and the deal fizzled out. There was a rumour that Paltrow wanted $1 million to sign, but that is a ridiculous figure. Atlantic is still interested in signing her.”
It is believed Gwyneth is currently focusing on her acting career and promoting her new cook book, but her spokesperson insists she hasn’t ruled out making a record. The representative said: “Atlantic was not the only company pursuing her, and she still has not decided if she wants to record an album. It is still something she is considering.”
Paltrow also performed at the Oscars, and duetted with Cee Lo Green at the Grammy Awards on his hit ‘Forget You.’
We can all breath a sign of relief – Paltrow’s record deal is nowhere near happening at the moment. I think she should stick to acting – she’s good at it. Singing? She just needs to stop. It’s not that she’s bad, but she’s not great either. Whenever she performs, it’s like someone is doing karaoke. Just meh.
I have a feeling this movie will bring in a lot of prepubescent teenage girls.
Based on Channing Tatum’s real-life stripper past, Alex Pettyfer will star alongside Tatum as a male stripper in ‘Magic Mike,’ reports Deadline.
Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh chose 21-year-old newcomer Pettyfer to play a young Tatum, while Channing will play his older mentor.
Pettyfer recently starred in ‘I Am Number Four’ and ‘Beastly,’ and will appear this fall opposite Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in the film ’In Time.’
‘Magic Mike,’ though, is the story of a friendship set in the world of male strippers. Tatum plays the title character, who schools a young dancer, Pettyfer, in how to hustle on and off the stage. It’s a ”wild summer of dancing, partying, and women.”
The inspiration came from Channing’s own experiences as a stripper when he was 19, before making it big as an actor.
Like I said before, two half-naked men in a two hour movie is definitely going to bring in ticket sales. I bet you girls are already lining up outside movie theatres.
Kristen Stewart has just picked up a big-time acting award over in Europe, reports E Online.
The ‘Twilight’ actress did not win an award for her acting as Bella, though. Stewart was named Best Actress at the Milan International Film Festival for her gritty role in the indie flick ‘Welcome to the Rileys.’
In the film, Stewart plays Mallory, a 16-year-old stripper who gets taken in by a couple whose marriage is on the rocks (played by James Gandolfini and Oscar-winning Melissa Leo.)
“I did some pole dancing,” Stewart said. “I got bruises all over my legs. I tore myself up doing it. It sucked.”
“The more I saw it, the more I wanted it,” she added. “It was like a weird, self-hating kind of thing.”
Wow, guess Stewart does have it in her to act. I haven’t seen the film, so I can’t judge, but the role sounds interesting. Congrads to her!
Steven Tyler and Johnny Depp are writing a song together, reveals Billboard.
Depp has confirmed that he and Tyler are hard at work on a new track.
“We’ve been hanging out here and there,” the actor says. ”He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”
Tyler, the Aerosmith frontman, said last week that he and the actor have been collaborating in his ‘American Idol’ downtime. “He asked me, he said, ‘I want you to come over’ — he’s got a studio here in L.A. — ‘and see if I’m playing “Seasons of Wither” right.’ I said, ‘Y’know what, Johnny? No matter how you play it, it’s gonna be right. It’s a beautiful thing.”
Tyler also said that he would want Depp to play him in a movie version of his life. When asked about the hypoethetical casting, Depp said, “I’ll give it a shot. Why not?”
I never knew Depp was into songwriting, but the duo seems to oddly fit together and I would think they have the same taste. Can’t wait to hear what this ends up with!
