’30 Seconds To Mars’ Can’t Confirm Nor Deny That They Are Splitting

Last week, MTV Canada reported that ’30 Seconds To Mars’ were set to break up after the conclusion of their current 2011 tour. The band is still not denying this news.

The rock band was taping their ‘MTV Unplugged’ episode, which is set to air in July, when MTV asked them point-blank about the breakup rumors.

“We can neither confirm nor deny these allegations,” guitarist Tomo Milicevic said, laughing. OK – is that a good sign, or a bad sign?

The band has spent the past year promoting their ‘This is War’ album, which has put aside their long-term plans of shooting a video for the album’s next single, ‘Night of the Hunter.’

“I would love to make another video. I think if I made another video, it would kill me, because I’ve been making videos for the past 18 to 20 months,” frontman Jared Leto said with a sigh. “When did we start ‘Kings and Queens’? October? I may have to go check myself in for some time away if I do another video.”

It’s a little sketchy that the band is not denying that they are breaking up. Maybe Leto will return to acting and focus his attention on that? Or maybe they are just taking a break, then reuniting soon. I expect a statement sometime soon in the future.

Jared Leto Is The New Face Of Hugo Boss

’30 Seconds to Mars’ frontman Jared Leto has been announced as the new face of Hugo Boss’s cologne, reports The Independent.

The german brand released the announcement via Facebook on April 26. Leto also released a statement, saying “HUGO inspires men to succeed through creativity, which is something I’ve aimed for my entire career.”

The men’s scent is expected to be released in July.

I don’t know about this selection – Hugo Boss is a brand focused on timeless and classic ideals, and Leto is none of those things. He’s a grungy rocker, not a clean-cut businessman. Leto did start out as a model though, so I’m sure he can carry his own in these ads. I’ve never been a fan of celebrity-endorsed fashion lines, so obviously I’m not super ecstatic over this, but Leto isn’t hideous so I’m sure they will turn out great.

New 30 STM Video is Too Hot for TV!

Looks like Jared Leto and his band 30 Seconds to Mars may have gone a little too far in their newest music video for the song Hurricane.

Leto has received several letters from the major networks informing him that the video contains sexual bondage-based imagery that’s WAY too much for basic cable. In fact, editors would have to remove scenes just to make the video playable in the more liberal post-10pm timeslot!

Perez Hilton is reporting that Leto posted a network letter on his personal website, adding that he is “looking to find a creative solution that works for all.”

When the video does eventually come out, we’re sure people will be lined up to see it now!

30 Seconds To Mars Reveal Details Of Kanye West Collaboration

Earlier this month, Kanye West got people talking when he posted a photo of himself, Killers singer Brandon Flowers and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto on his blog and wrote that the trio were working on a “dope-ass song” for 30STM’s new album.

According to mtvnews.com, Leto wrote a post on 30STM’s site a few days later — in which he revealed that the song was called “Hurricane” – and he had more to say on Monday.

“I had actually brought up [the idea of working with West] some time ago, but it’s pretty unbelievable that it actually happened,” Leto said. “He came by here, he was here in the studio, and we did some initial kind of listening, and he did some singing, and we knew we needed to kind of follow up and finish things, so I went over to Hawaii [with] an engineer and a small crew, and we had a great time.”

Leto said that “Hurricane” features West’s voice, au naturel, a decision he made even though the rapper/producer has trafficked almost exclusively in Auto-Tune as of late.”This is Kanye singing. I happen to think he has a really great voice. I like his voice a lot,” Leto said. “My favorite is when he sings, as opposed to rapping, and I told him that as well, that I really liked him as a singer. But the Auto-Tune thing doesn’t really bug me.”

$30 Million Lawsuit Won’t Slow Down 30 Seconds To Mars

Jared Leto and the rest of his band-mates from 30 Seconds To Mars are busy working on a follow-up to “A Beautiful Lie,” released in 2005.

The band teamed up with British producer Flood (Nine Inch Nails, Sigur Rós) for the album and Leto said to MTV News that even with a $30 million lawsuit, they are in “good spirits.”

The lawsuit was filed by Virgin Records, the band’s former label, in August. According to MTV News, Virgin Records has filed a lawsuit because 30 Seconds To Mars failed to produce three of the five records the band was obliged to put out under their 1999 contract, which they originally entered with Immortal Records.

Virgin took over the contract in 2004 and the band later claimed they were “excused from such performance from and after July 4, 2008, pursuant to California Labor Code Sec. 2855 (a).”

“It’s our first lawsuit,” Leto said to MTV News. “When you have a $30 million lawsuit against you, it’s part of your life. Some days you feel invincible, and other days you can be obsessed with it. Some days you can get a little pissed.”

Still, the band is hard at work to produce a new album, “Our only concrete goal is to make something amazing,” Leto said to MTV News, “and something that we’re proud of, and something that’s fulfilling and challenges us”.

30 Seconds to Mars want to be known as a genuine elite rock band, not just actor Jared Leto’s band.

When they released their first album in 2002, the focus was all on Leto.

But somehow, with their second album, “A Beautiful Lie,” released Tuesday, 30 Seconds to Mars are becoming more known as a quartet and less as a an actor’s novelty act.

Keanu Reeves and Bruce Willis have a lost a member of their club.
