Floral prints are an iconic trend for spring and one of the easiest to put together. It’s also the best, if not easiest, way to embrace your inner lady. Gossip Girl‘s Jessica Szohr mixes colour blocking into her floral look which is a neat way to incorporate two very popular trends into one. This works really well because her floral printed trousers are of a lighter shade so using colours from the print itself still keeps it simple and chic.

Gatsby is always a great style inspiration, so is Leo DiCaprio.
Prom season is coming up and most likely there are some guys out there who still haven’t even given a thought to what they will be wearing that night. No worries. It’s usually thought that guy’s have it easier than girls when deciding what to wear for prom, which is partly true. But don’t discount the importance of a guy’s sartorial choice for prom night. Some guy’s might feel boxed in when picking a prom look when they feel the need to match their prom date’s outfit, or they might get roped into wearing their dad’s/brother’s/some distant relative’s hand-me-downs because it’s cheap and easy. But don’t fret as there are a variety of men’s looks to choose from.
The famously glitzy Cannes Film Festival in France, which is currently taking place, is a good place to start when deciding on prom looks.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire
You can’t go wrong with the traditional simple black tuxedo. When in doubt get a tux. The classic look stands alone and will pair nicely with whatever your prom date is wearing. When choosing the traditional black tuxedo little touches can go a long way as seen in Leo’s look, he’s wearing a three-piece suit with black satin lining which helps set himself apart from The Great Gatsby co-star Tobey. Another important thing to remember is fit! Maguire’s tux is tailored fit to his body, the fit is perfection. So if you think of busting out your dad’s ol’ tux make sure you get it tailored, otherwise you’ll look like a kid trying to play dress up.

I seriously don’t know the relationship status between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. I thought they were back together but I just can’t assume these things anymore. Last month Selena’s on/off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber landed a double cover of Teen Vogue, and now it’s her turn to grace the newsstands with her cover of InStyle.
But Selena’s won’t be the only face you see on the magazine shelves, here are June’s other cover stars:
Demi Lovato
Selena’s former BFF gets on the magazine action too as she cover’s the June issue of Company.
Miley Cyrus
However, when it comes to former Disney child actresses none can compare to Miley Cyrus. She is this month’s cover megastar! Not only did she land a double cover for Elle UK but she also got three covers for V Magazine. It’s safe to say that we’ve all moved on from Cyrus’ Hannah Montana days as she is a bona fide high fashion darling.

Effortless style is easy to have during the warmer seasons. Mostly because you can just put on a short dress paired with some cute flats and you’re good to go. Emma Watson put the trendy in casual while she was shopping in New York City this week. Love her pairing of the drawstring pants, a simple striped tee and cardigan. Those soft yellow loafers just add to this actress’s effortless style.

Jennifer Lawrence and Sarah Jessica Parker share a moment on the red carpet.
It can be tough to find the right outfit for the Met Gala. There’s so much pressure to be dressed the best and the competition is steep! Like I said in Part 1, this year’s punk theme might have been a bit too high concept for some people to wrap their heads around. So while some celebrities made some honest but failed attempts at going punk, some celebrities completely ignored the theme all together. So here are our choices for the ones who did not quite make the best dressed list and the ones who completely missed the mark all together.
The Blahs
There’s a lot of the classic Taylor Swift elements going on in the dress, but I find the black so jarring on Swift. Perhaps if this was in Swift’s go to white colour it would work better.
Blake Lively looks like she is channeling her inner Black Swan, but there’s nothing very punk about this.
I love Jennifer Lawrence but this just seems like a case where a celebrity was contractually obligated to wear this design. J. Law is the face of Miss Dior so it makes sense why this happened. It’s pretty but not amazing.
Beyoncé arrives fashionably late at this year’s Met Gala.
Fashion’s biggest red carpet took place this week as celebrities, models, and designers descended upon the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art ball. This year’s theme was punk in honour of their new exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture. While that was a fun idea, not that many attendees were able to pull off the punk concept. It was kind of like watching an episode of Project Runway where the episode’s challenge was too far out there for some of the designers to wrap their head around. It indeed resulted in one of the craziest Met Gala red carpets ever with so many spikes and studs paired with outrageous hair and makeup! I kind of have a feeling that next year’s theme won’t be so high concept (your move, Anna Wintour)! So let’s check out who made the cut on our best dressed list. And check back for Part 2: The Blahs and the Oh No’s!
Best Dressed
Nina Dobrev can rock on stage and the red carpet in this look, a perfect combo for the gala’s theme.
Loving the studded detail on supermodel Cara Delevingne‘s gown.
Nicole Richie‘s white hair was so jaw dropping and totally badass! The dress might not be punk but the overall look is. Read more…
Maypole dancers surround the maypole with coloured ribbons on May Day, which is the first day of the month.
While some of you might be celebrating the beginning of May dancing to N’Sync’s “It’s Gonne Be Me” and if you don’t know why perhaps this will give you some sort of clue. Others around the world will be dancing to traditional folk music in celebration of May Day, a traditional European spring festival. So in honour of this lovely spring holiday, I’ll be giving you tips on rocking the floral trend that you can take with you well into the summer. And yeah I know what you’re thinking, florals for spring? How groundbreaking! But yes florals are actually a trend for 2013 for both women and men, so check it out!
Floral Crowns

Lana Del Rey, the Queen of the floral crown.
So if you missed out on Coachella, don’t fret because May Day is the perfect (and probably the most legitimate) reason for anyone to be wearing a floral crown. Floral crowns were spotted on the runways and magazine but hit the mainstream thanks to sultry singer Lana Del Rey. They became quite the phenomenon at Coachella and rightly overtook the Native American headdress (this should have never been a trend in the first place) as the hair accessory of choice for concertgoers. Don’t be surprised to see floral crowns at various music festivals this summer.

These poor girls were victims of a Jimmy Kimmel prank at this year’s Coachella.

This spring, you’ll have zero problem finding something sexy to wear on date night or if you’re just going out with the girls! Daring cutouts, up-to-there slits, and sheer fabrics were all over the runways for this season. Thanks to strategically placed windows and lace, this illusionist approach offers suggestive glimpses of skin while still keeping you fully clothed. So pull on coordinating lingerie, and play a bit of hide-and-seek with these look-at-me style statements that are very now and very wow.
Here are three ways to wear this daring and adventurous trend:
1. The High Slit
It’s spring! Let’s rejoice by busting out that denim dress we’ve been dying to wear. Aside from its epic wearability, denim is one of the biggest trends this season. It’s the one material that keeps revamping itself, fueling our obsession with new prints, washes and construction. And of course it can be paired with almost anything. I am obsessed with Alexa Chung’s pairing of the combat jacket and denim dress. Chic with a grunge twist!

Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby
Summer blockbuster season is almost upon us and you’re probably just as stoked as I am for a whole new crop of movies to devour. But when it comes to movie fashions, summer blockbusters tend to be big on explosions and less on couture. There’s always just a movie or two each year that leaves the audience with a big sartorial impact. Most people are betting on The Great Gatsby to have the biggest style impact, but just because it has the most fashion hype doesn’t mean it will be this year’s most fashionable film.
So here are the movies of 2013 that you need to keep you eyes on for the film’s fashion and sense of style.
The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famed novel is a rite of passage in any high school english classroom. This novel has made its way to the silver screen before but it is Baz Luhrmann’s super stylized adaptation that has us most excited, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year. The Roaring Twenties was a period of high fashion, artistic expression, crazy parties, and excess. No wonder it’s still a popular period for fashion magazines to take editorial inspiration from, and besides everyone loves a good flapper dress. Although this period piece has the most hype (check out Carey Mulligan’s Vogue cover), the ’20s inspiration might have already reached its peak during the Spring/Summer 2012 runways. Perhaps the film will revitalize last year’s trend and keep it alive.

Disclaimer #1: I’m from Ottawa. Born and raised. Disclaimer #2: I love Rihanna. Ever since “Pon de Replay.” Disclaimer #3: This post about Rihanna in an Ottawa Senators jersey is me being selfish so that this moment can live forever on the interwebz. Disclaimer #4: I believe this moment is a sign from the universe that me and Rihanna are meant to be. Disclaimer #5: I will now try to work Rihanna in a Sens jersey into a meaningful and useful andPOP article.
A jersey or any other sports team apparel, whether from your fav team or not, is a classic staple in anyone’s wardrobe. The only trick is making it fashionable and working into everyday outfits—not just for game day. Sports apparel are handy items for any streetwear ensemble. Even if you’re not a sports fan, there are still ways to incorporate the trend into your look.
Now you might be saying that people wear sports jerseys all the time—which is true—and that there is nothing new to this “trend”–which is a little true too. But here’s the catch: rocking sports jerseys and sports apparel was in its heyday in 90′s hip hop and streetwear. With the emerging 90′s fashion revival, you too are seeing the big return of trendy sportswear to the masses. It’s no longer just for the diehard sports fans to rock a jersey or snapback (and don’t let those diehard sports fans discourage you from wearing their team logos). A big sign that this is true is the announcement that the iconic 90s Starter jackets are set to make their return this fall, first with the NFL line followed by the NBA collection.
The Good Old Hockey Game: Rihanna

Here is Rihanna in West Hollywood using a heritage Ottawa Sens jersey as a dress. Now I don’t recommend using a sports jersey as a dress because not everyone can pull it off, but clearly Rihanna can and beside she probably doesn’t give a fuq. Anyways, she glams up her look with nice gold accessories and and golden Tom Ford ankle cuff shoes. I like this look because it makes me want to believe that the people of Barbados are all diehard hockey fans.
Nicola Roberts
![]()
Now this isn’t a slight to Montreal Canadiens fans (however, you will notice that there will be no Toronto Maple Leafs pics on this post) but this is an example of how not to wear a jersey as a dress. Nicola Roberts (one fifth of U.K. girl group Girls Aloud) actually wore this to a ‘red carpet’ event for the premiere of her reality show. This look is strictly streetwear! It’s all about context, so the posh surrounding just makes her cheap in comparison. Plus, she could have done a lot better accessorizing her outfit! Obviously this wasn’t well received in the U.K., where someone mistook this outfit to be from an American football team.

Justin Bieber is having a crazy time right now. March started with a wild and shirtless 19th birthday party in London which apparently turned out to be the worst birthday ever, he collapsed on stage, he hit a paparazzo, got dissed by his ex Selena, and then got his pet monkey confiscated! That last one sounds unreal, like when did J-Biebs get a monkey anyway?!
Hopefully the month of April will be a turning point for Justin and it’s already off to a good start with the release of his duel Teen Vogue covers for the magazine’s May issue. Judge which cover you like best.

But Justin isn’t the only celebrity who gets to celebrate scoring a magazine cover. April may have just started but the magazine industry is already busting out its May issues.

So check out who also landed themselves a cover and find out which celeb will rule the newsstand!
Oh Yoko! You’ve done it again! Your partnership with Opening Ceremony is just the gift that keeps on giving! But seriously, as a male I do confess that I know nothing about makeup so I’m glad you came up with this video to show me and my boys that there are no limits to what we can do with makeup.
This tutorial video is threaded together by a poem that has amazing lines like, “When you see a rainbow in the sky/Breathe it in/And make your room into a rainbow,” and “Everything that sparkles will bring you a sparkling life/Sparkling eyes, sparkling belly button, sparkling legs.” And even some great advice like “Take rainbow pills – but with caution.” Did we mention the background music? You need to listen the background music.
But it’s not all fun and games as she gets seriously deep. Throw away that mirror, she says!
Yoko has you or your gents covered with make-up tips for daytime, evening and dawn with all three looks just as kooky and amazing as the next. Her oh-so wise advice will pair well with the crotch-grab Opening Ceremony fashion line, which she says was inspired by John Lennon’s body. TMI? TMI.

Oh, Yoko. You win all the awards!

Have you ever wondered what your shoes would say if they talked? Now you don’t have to as Google and Adidas unveiled the Talking Shoe, their new joint project, at SxSW. Sure there are other tech shoes out there that can track how far you can run but can they tell you to get off your lazy butt? Well The Talking Shoe can since it has a speaker built into the shoe’s tongue and is capable of saying up to 250 phrases. Of course, it can also track your performance, give you feedback, and help share your info on social media.
While as amazing as that sounds, what’s even better is that the shoes are sassy! Not only does it come with the iconic three-striped Adidas design and Bluetooth technology, but it appears to possess some British snark via its computerized Brit accent. Personally I would have loved it if they got Michael Cain or Adele to do the voice-over of the shoes, but that would be too much of a good thing. This would be great for those of us who need some trash talking and insults to incite some motivation to hit the gym. May I suggest a surly Simon Cowell, an intimidating Naomi Campbell, or a terrifying Gordon Ramsay to shame us into shape? Just a suggestion.
Fashion wise, I like how they incorporated the Google colours into the sleek black shoes. Read more…
Dear Kim,
First off I just want to say congratulations on your pregnancy. I wish you, Kanye, and baby Kimye all the best!
Now I know this is not the easiest time for you. I can’t speak from first hand experience what it is like to be pregnant (nor will I ever since I was not born with lady parts but that’s besides the point) but I have heard that being with child can do crazy things to your body. Plus you had that recent health scare which must have been really emotionally exhausting to go through.

Also, being technically married to Kris Humphries probably isn’t making your life any easier.
So here’s what I’m proposing: that you take a mental and sartorial time machine back to the time before Kanye and Kris happened to your life. Don’t get it twisted! I’m not saying you need to physically go back in time before you were pregnant. However I think for your mental health you need to go back to a time before all that Kris drama, and then take your wardrobe back in time before Kanye’s stylist overhauled your closet.

I’m sure you’re enjoying going to Paris Fashion Week and hobnobbing with Jay-Z and Beyoncé, but I think it’s safe to say your wardrobe needs to be reset. Like I said in my article on celebrity fashion lines, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Kanye might elevate your Hollywood status, but he can’t help you fashion-wise since Anna Wintour still won’t let you attend the Met Ball (a.k.a. the fashion Oscars). Yeah you might be dressing a little more sophisticated and a lot less overtly sexy, but it just seems like a massive personality overhaul as well. Perhaps until Kanye becomes a full fledged and critically praised fashion designer, then you should take his advice.
So here are some evidence of your fashion WTFs since being Kanye-fied:
1. Peplum snake print (?!!) pants

3. Whatever this is:

Did you enjoy last week’s Part 1? Well now that Paris Fashion Week is officially over, you can enjoy some of the best tracks that the models had the pleasure of walking down the runway to. Here are some more fashion week beats to keep you occupied until the next fashion week!

Black. A colour that is perfect for the not-so-glorious weather we’ve been having here in Toronto. Thank you Miranda Kerr for dressing in head-to-toe black this week in New York with a key piece that is trending and very popular this season…leather! Finding the perfect fit in leather pants especially can be tough. My suggestion is to go for leather leggings if you’re having trouble finding pants that are a comfortable fit for your body.

Everyone loves the Oscars red carpet. It’s probably the most highly anticipated red carpet in the world and no other red carpet can compare! But it’s not the only velvet carpet A-list celebrities will be walking down on that night. While most of us viewers head to bed once The Oscars ceremony ends – because let’s face it the ceremony always ends late – celebrities are making hurried wardrobe changes and hitting the after-party scene in new outfits. After-party red carpets are a chance for the winners to show off their new prizes and a chance for the losers to still win best dressed of the night. So let’s see who had the best wardrobe change as these celebs face off against themselves!
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence, the Best Actress winner for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, infamously tripped on her way to accept her award in the pale pink Dior Haute Couture gown but switched it up for a more slinky and silver Calvin Klein dress for the Vanity Fair after-party. This time she got to match her metallic gown with the night’s most coveted accessory, the Oscar statuette.
Anne Hathaway
The Best Supporting Actress winner turned heads on the red carpet in this pale pink Prada gown, but perhaps for the wrong reasons as the darts in the dress emphasized her nipples. Plus, this was a last minute dress choice which resulted in a public apology from the actress to Valentino, who was to be her original choice of designer. She had a chance to redeem herself in a different column dress for the Vanity Fair after-party, this time a blue number from Saint Laurent.

Nobody said nail art is easy. If I ever tried to paint my own tuxedo nails a la Zooey Deschanel, I would probably end up with tuxedo hands. That being said, these sets of nails make me want to scream and shout, and not in a good way. Let’s hope practice makes perfect for these artists and their crazy ideas. Or, if all else fails, get some nail stickers.

A lumberjack shirt is a must have, despite of what season it is. It’s the trend that never goes out of style. Finding the appropriate pieces to match it with is key to making this look work. The best way is usually to add darker colours with a touch of brown. I am loving Ashley Benson’s lumberjack and laced-up boots combination – you got the dark tones and the brown.
