Mark Zuckerberg may have a lot of friends – U2′s Bono being one of them and his stake in the Facebook stock will soon make him the richest rockstar on the planet.

The Dublin band’s frontman might not have a crucial role in the founding role of Facebook, though Zuckerberg may “like” U2, but his private equity firm Elevation Partners owns 1.5 per cent of the shares.

That means he invested about $90 million in 2009 – but, when the social networking site goes public later this year, Bono’s share will be worth about $1 billion. If you think about it, that’s some $300 million more than the current richest rock star, Sir Paul McCartney

For those of you that might think that amount of cheddar is redonkulous – remember how much of Bono’s finances goes to his many charity projects, mostly focused on humanitarian aid in Africa.

The film’s debut is the best weekend opening ever for a live-action comedy, beating ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember‘s’ $73.1 million debut. It’s also the second-best opening for an R-rated film, topping ‘The Passion of the Christ’ but falling short of ‘The Matrix Reloaded.’

By comparison, the original ‘Hangover’ made less than half that amount, making $59.2 million its first five days.

In second place was ‘Kung Fu Panda 2,’ with the animated martial-arts comedy grossing $48 million over the weekend. That’s a step down from the 2008 original, which debuted to $60.2 million.

In third place is ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ which dropped 56 percent for a weekend gross of $39.3 million.

‘Bridesmaids‘ slipped only 22 percent for $16.4 million, coming in at fourth, which is pretty impressive considering that the R-rated comedy had to compete with ‘The Hangover II.’ Action flick ‘Thor’ came in at fifth with $9.4 million.

I knew that the ‘Hangover’ sequel would do well, but I’m pretty satisfied that ‘Bridesmaids’ is still doing well too since the film actually deserves the success.

The list of celebs, which highlights the most powerful people in the entertainment business, earned $4.5 billion collectively over the last 12 months by starring in films, making music, modelling clothes or playing sports.

Lady Gaga took the No. 1 spot this year, beating Oprah Winfrey who came in at No 2. Oprah’s only given up the No. 1 spot three times in seven years.

Gaga made the top of the list because of the $90 million she earned with her monster tour, and her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers. She also generated 1 million digital downloads of her recent single ‘Born This Way’ in only five days.

Oprah earned $290 million last year, earning big from her syndicated show and the stars she’s spawned, including Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz. She is now starting her own networnk OWN, so no wonder she’s still deemed powerful.

Canadian-born Justin Bieber came in at No. 3, debuting on the list at the young age of 17 with $53 million earned over the last 12 months. This major profit is thanks to concerts, music sales and a 3-D documentary movie that grossed $100 million at the global box office. He can thank teenage girls for this.

Surprising stars that made the list include reality TV star Bethenny Frankel at 42nd place and Tiger Woods at No. 10, despite his recent love scandals. Notable absentees include Britney Spears, who ranked sixth in 2010, and Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, who ranked 82nd last year.

Being the creator of the Skinnygirl margarita brand, Frankel has been sued for more than $100 million for allegedly cutting her former management company out of the biggest deal of her life.

Frankel’s former management company, Raw Talent, claims Bethenny signed with them back in 2008 with the hopes of maximizing the potential of her Skinnygirl cocktail line. And then dropped them when she began making big money.

According to the lawsuit, Raw Talent claims “[Bethenny] expressly represented that any agreement relating to the exploitation of the Skinnygirl Cocktail Brand would be commissionable under their management agreement.”

The company claims they hooked up Frankel with some powerful people in the liquor biz, only for Beth to then fire them days before she sold Skinnygirl for a reported $120 million.

Raw Talent claims they want their cut of the deal, $12 million, plus $100 million in punitive damages.

That’s some pretty shady business. I’m thinking that this was probably just a miscommunication in the contract or something, because I don’t think Frankel really needs the money that bad. $100 million in ‘damages’ seems an awful lot too, though. The company kind of seems shady as well, so who can we trust?

The actor, who recently finished filming his run of ‘Potter’ films, made £28.5 million ($45 million) in 2009-10, pushing his net worth to about £48 million ($75 million).

The 21-year-old is not the only ‘Harry Potter’ actor to appear in The Sunday Times Rich List of young people. Emma Watson comes in at 13 with earnings of £2 million, pushing her total up to £22 million, joint with Rupert Grint.

Radcliffe is now currently appearing in the Broadway musical ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.’

Other stars who made the list include ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson, who came in at number nine worth a total of £32 million, narrowly beating Keira Knightley, whose net work is £30 million – putting her at number 10.

Princes William and Harry came in one place after Keira thanks to their inheritance from their late mother Diana and land owning. Wow, the thought of royalty being worth less than a vampire in a really bad movie frightens me.

Posted on andPOP:

The famous ‘Home Alone’ house is for sale, E Online reports.

The house of adventures, where a young Macaulay Culkin fought off many burgling criminals, will definitely cost you though.

According to a press release, the Chicago-area home, described as “a piece of cinematic history and refined Georgian charm,” is going for $2.4 million. Yes, that’s a lot, but it’s actually way less than I would have thought. I mean, it’s cinematically famous!

The previous owner, John Abendshien, had great things to say about his soon-to-be former house.

“This property has been home to our family for more than 20 years, and has been a perfect location for us to raise our daughter,” he says. “There is such a strong sense of community in Winnetka and we will always have fond memories of the fun we’ve had here and the many people we’ve come to know and love.”

Built in the 1920′s, the residence has four bedrooms, including the “attic bedroom,” and two grand suites. A four-room master suite, which spans the entire west wing of the home, provides ample comfort and privacy. The house also features a large sunroom, spacious master bath and an elegant sitting room with built-in bookcases, a wood-burning fireplace with a carved marble mantle.

So if you’re into movie houses and have lots of dough to spend, go for it.

Posted on andPOP:

Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno says he has spoken to Donald Trump about running for New York governor in 2006.

The Republican told an Albany television station that Trump, the real estate developer turned television personality, is considering running.

Trump has not commented on the gubernatorial suggestion.

Reports indicate that Trump considered running for president in 2000 on the Reform Party ticket, according to the Associated Press. In state races, Trump has donated money to both the Republican and Democratic parties.

State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is the only Democratic candidate, and Republicans are looking for someone with name recognition to challenge him, reports the AP. Several Republicans have entered the race, but none with a name comparable to Trump’s.

Trump bounced back from bankruptcy to be a billionaire business mogul. He stars in NBC’s hit The Apprentice.

Posted on andPOP:

Rumours have been swirling around for the last few months about a possible sale or partnership between AOL and a big Internet firm.

At the time, the companies vying for this partnership included Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Comcast. However, when Yahoo and Comcast removed themselves from the negotiations, it appeared that Microsoft was the new front runner. With a massive bank account and with the most to gain from such a partnership, it seemed like only a matter of days before the deal was announced.

If Microsoft were to sign the deal, it would be a significant blow to Google, who already receives about 10% of its search queries from AOL. But late Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google has now become the sole runner in the deal that could see them taking a 5% stake (approx. US$1 billion) in AOL, boosting AOL’s value to some US$20 billion.

The news sent Google’s shares soaring to a new high of $432.50/share. Although the deal has still not been formally announced, an announcement is expected sometime this week. Should Time Warner confirm that it has in fact entered into an agreement with Google, it would be another blow to Microsoft, who has been eagerly trying to catch up to Google in the online advertising field.

Posted on andPOP:

Ever been annoyed from that song that just keeps getting re-played on the radio? (Can we say Kelly Clarkson for one?) After an 11-month investigation headed by New York?s attorney-general Eliot Spitzer, they found it?s not a mystery; underneath some overly played songs lies another big, fat corporate scandal.

?Radio stations are airing music because they are paid to do so in a way that hasen?t been disclosed to the public,? Spitzer said.

?The attorney-general said his office found evidence Sony BMG paid for vacation packages and electronics for radio programmers. It also paid for contest giveaways, some operational expenses, and hired independent promoters to pay radio stations to get more air play for its artists,? reported CBC.ca.

Sony BMG is the trunk that has branches of record labels including Arista, Columbia, and So So Def Records. Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, OutKast, Pink, and Sarah McLachlan are some of Sony?s commercial products.

According to the Wall Street Journal about 12 executives have been let go at Sony BMG.

Since the beans have been spilt, the $10 million dollars Sony BMG was giving to radio stations to play their artists is now going to New York?s non-profit groups that support music education and appreciation.

Sadly, Sony is one of many corporate-monsters with their greedy hands in the criminal-cookie jar. Spitzer?s investigation also uncovered documents, e-mails, and other evidence of similar misconduct from Warner Music, Universal Music Group, and EMI. This probe is not done.

Spitzer said ?these practices are pervasive,? reported CBC.ca.

In fact, its so bad that, ?this is a potentially massive scandal,? said Johnathan Adelstein, head of the
Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

In case you were shocked like I was, and you?re young like I am, this sort of krap has happened before in the 1950s and 60s.

When will people learn? Perhaps the compliance officer Sony has now hired will straighten them out.
