“It’s amazing what you can get yourself into during the down times of recording,” Ryan Demars, bass player of Santa Cruz ska/surf rock band The Expendables, said in an email interview.
“We had a bunch of parties out by the pool almost every night. We had some porn star friends come up and some B list celebrities come … leading into weird orgies and questionable situations.”
“It was nuts.”
All the parties and weird orgies occurred in a small cottage by Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, where the band briefly lived and recorded their self titled album in 2007.
Three years later, in 2010, The Expendables would release, in their opinion, the first album that they were ever actually prepared for. This land marking album is titled “Prove It.”
“I want people to be satisfied with our effort,” Demars said. Also, “I want people to get excited when they hear our new stuff, because that is how I feel when we play the new songs.”
But things really kicked off for the Santa Cruz ska/surf rock band back in 1997 when the group first formed. At this time, the guys enjoyed a laid back experience that consisted of making music, partying, skating and surfing.
About ten years ago, a boy wizard named Harry Potter and his two companions took the wizard world and human world by storm. Now, about 3 500 days later, “Harry Potter” filming has come to an end.
And according to MTV News, Radcliffe was a little emotional at the end of filming.
“I didn’t expect myself to get particularly emotional, but I did, as I’m sure you’ll see on the DVD extras, because we were filmed weeping like children,” he said.
Throughout most of the day, Radcliffe was able to keep his emotions at bay. It was only until he was approached by producers David Heyman and David Barron, that he was unable to contain his emotions.
“They came up and said, ‘How are you feeling? How are you doing?’” Radcliffe said. “And I couldn’t find any words, and I just said, ‘I just want you to know, I’ve had a really nice time.’ And it was such a young, quite innocent, sweet thing to say, that I kind of caught myself off guard. That was the moment when I suddenly had a lump in my throat and was like, ‘OK, I’m really going to have to struggle to keep it together on the last shot,’ which was a stunt, very simple, just jumping and rolling onto a map.”
And yes, obviously Radcliffe nailed the jump and roll. And he also made it through the rest of the shoot.
Then, “they said, ‘That’s a wrap.’ It just felt weird,” Radcliffe said.
Before the emotions really sunk in, Radcliffe had to head to New York at the end of the day to be a presenter at the Tony Awards. Meaning, the poor wizard didn’t get to go out with his fellow wizards on the day they finally finished shooting the “Potter” series.
“That wasn’t the official wrap party,” Radcliffe said. “That was just everybody going out and getting crazy drunk. The wrap party we’ll have will be sometime in the next two weeks, which will be exciting.”
Never fear Ryan Seacrest, your 26-year-old stalker is going to be behind bars, reports TMZ. Today, after pleading no contest to felony stalking back in March, stalker Chidi Uzomah was sentenced to two years in prison.
But where did this all start?
Well, back in September. Chidi went after Seacrest outside of an Orange County hospital armed with a knife.
Following this crazy event, Chidi showed up at the E! building where Seacrest shoots his daily TV show. But this was no warm welcoming. This was a month later in violation of a restraining order. And Chidi was armed with a knife again.
So, in addition to the two year sentence, the judge ordered Chidi to stay away from Seacrest for 10 years. Also, the judge ordered Chidi to use plastic cutlery for the rest of his life. Just kidding, but not a bad idea.
Robert Pattinson is loved by Twilight fans for too many reasons to list. He is known all over the world. His face is on almost every magazine cover, he has T-shirts and dolls embellished with his face, and at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, his face dominated again, reports MTV News. So naturally, this poses the question – is it all going to his head?
“To be honest,” Rob said, “I should’ve been nominated in a few more categories.”
As if winning three awards for “New Moon” and having his face absolutely everywhere isn’t enough.
“It’s a disappointment,” Rob said, regarding “New Moon” winning multiple awards Sunday. “It’s an OK result.”
“I think it’s only three,” the star added. “We did better last year.”
What! Arrogant is not the first word to come to mind.
But wait, there is more. After one closely reviews the tape of the interview, it becomes clear that Rob is joking and being playful. Fame still hasn’t changed the man.
So in this world of spoiled and giant-ego headed stars, it is nice to know that at least one guy in Hollywood still knows how to laugh at himself. And there is no need to worry about Rob making the above statements for real anytime soon.
This Tuesday, Charlie Sheen will begin to do release work as a part of his 30-day sentence, reports TMZ. Included in his release work, Charlie has to coach actors for a play, titled “Same Time Next Year.”
Part of the plea deal, is that Charlie will be able to leave jail every morning at 8 a.m. for work at Theatre Aspen and must return by 8 p.m.
Charlie will be coaching the actors for a total of three plays: “The Wonderettes,” “Three Little Pigs,” and “Same Time Next Year.”
But, there is more on the list of tasks Charlie must complete. He will also be doing meet-and-greets for Theatre Aspen fundraising. Furthermore, Charlie will be working with kids who are in the theatre group at the ABC Center in Aspen.
And now back to the beginning, sort of. As was first reported … with good time, Charlie will serve 17 days. But the first and last days will be short.
Also learned, Charlie has completed his required 36 hours of anger management classes. However, after serving his sentence, Charlie will still be placed on probation for the 30 days, so the fines and other requirements are fully processed.
But, it all begins with what Charlie is good at. Acting. Charlie will report to Theatre Aspen at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Let the coaching begin.
According to MTV News, Bullock celebrated her MTV Generation Award with a kiss from Scarlett Johansson.
Accompanying Johansson and Bullock on stage was Betty White and Bradley Cooper. And of course, this kiss got Bullock a standing ovation from the rowdy crowd.
“Sandy, I know I’m not alone in saying I hope you know how loved you are,” Cooper said. “Both for your incredible talent and for being such a humble and effervescent woman.”
And Bullock deserved nothing less than to be honoured. Just this year, she has already received a Golden Globe as well as a pair of giant hits, including “The Proposal” and “Blind Side.”
“You are grace defined and I adore you madly,” White said, who got to know Bullock during the filming of “The Proposal.”
“Our sex scenes were cut from theatrical release,” White lamented. “But don’t worry, everyone can see them on the unrated DVD.”
Despite all of the love and chatter, Johansson preferred to just stay quiet. Maybe she was still holding a grudge over Bullock’s full-frontal scene in “The Proposal,” shared with Ryan Reynolds – Johansson’s husband.
And to top it all off, Bullock became the first-ever female recipient of the honour. She joins the likes of Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Mike Myers, just to name a few.
During her speech, Bullock said “no matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do. And I’m not going anywhere.”
Despite being a small creature, this Bilbo Baggins is causing huge amounts of problems.
Guillermo del Toro, who was handpicked by Peter Jackson to steer The Hobbit movies, has decided to leave his directing post for the two-part Lord of the Rings prequels because of ongoing troubles at the two studios behind the highly anticipated films, reports Eonline!
The studios are MGM and New Line.
“In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming The Hobbit, I am faced with the hardest decision of my life,” Guillermo announced on TheOneRing.net fan site. “After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures.”
To prep the films with Jackson, del Toro moved with his family to New Zealand. And shooting was planned to take way this summer for a holiday 2012 release. But problems with MGM and New Line began as they couldn’t get their act together, and del Toro couldn’t wait any longer.
“The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project,” del Toro said. “I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product .”
Aside from all of the problems, del Toro will remain as a co writer on the project, along with Jackson and his LOTR partners, Fran Walsh and Phillippa Boyens.
But for now, the hunt for a new director has begun. Possible candidates: Gandalf the Grey.
Russell Brand and soon to be wife, Katy Perry, are always one’s for breaking tradition. For example, Perry joking about having a clothing-optional wedding. And now, according to PEOPLE, the couple is breaking tradition once again.
This time, Brand and Perry are not drawing up a wedding registry.
“Given that Katy and I both have good jobs, we don’t want any presents,” Brand said at last week’s premiere for his latest film, Get Him to the Greek. “It would be a massive indulgence.”
But just because the couple does not want presents, doesn’t mean they couldn’t use them. And the co-stars of Greek have suggestions for just that.
“I say you got to invest in the good sheets and towels,” Elisabeth Moss said. “It’s your only chance to get the really good, top-notch sheets and duvet covers. Those are things you don’t buy for yourself.”
Others suggested kitchen essentials like a waffle maker and an espresso machine.
Kali Hawk, Brand’s co-star, had some other ideas for gifts.
“[I’d say] diamond, platinum, titanium-encrusted flat irons. And skinny jeans,” she said. “Someone’s got to flatten and curl their hair and keep the pants nice and skinny.”
But in all seriousness, Moss believes that the only gift the couple needs for their new life together is good communication.
“They seem to have a pretty honest communication. I don’t doubt it,” Moss said. “They’re great.”
It has taken a very long time, and it has been a dramatic and entertaining battle, but Lindsay Lohan has finally figured out what she needs to do. According to TMZ, confidants of the star say that she has finally realized she needs to avoid “those people.” Meaning, the ones who are creating massive temptation for little LiLo.
“She needs to get away from that scene … and she knows it,” said a friend of LiLo. So now, Lindsay is spending the long weekend with a close friend by the beach in Venice, CA. Step one, complete.
And as for step two, it has become clear that it’s not just the Hollywood clubs that pose as a danger for the star.
“The people who hang around her are such moochers, and bad energy,” said another friend. “She needs to cut them out and I think that’s what she’s starting to realize.”
So what exactly is LiLo doing to avoid being sucked into the dark side? Well, she is sleeping, watching TV and movies. Not bad.
Also, the confidants of Lindsay say it’s a little too early to tell, but it looks as though she has temporarily broken through and is healthier than she’s been “in a long time.”
Last month, an announcement was made that a Kurt Cobain biopic was to be filmed, and according to CHARTattack, this has resulted in a flood of suggestions as to who should play the late front man of the legendary grunge group, Nirvana.
Cobain committed suicide in April of 1994.
Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Donnie Darko) is the most recent actor to be added to the list of possible “Cobains.” Jokingly, it was pointed out that since he’s got long hair now, for his new role in Prince of Persia, he could fit the role.
“I don’t know if I’d be the right choice – but the hair from Prince Of Persia could translate somehow,” Gyllenhaal told NME. “We could just bleach it!”
The rumours last month were that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) would play Cobain, but Courtney Love, Cobain’s widow, squashed those hopes. Love said that she would rather see Ryan Gosling (The Believer) or James McAvoy (Atonement) play the role.
Gosling has got great acting skills and has proven himself to be able to pull off a wide variety of roles.
Although McAvoy is only just beginning to gain recognition on this side of the pond, he is also great. He’s won BAFTA (British Academy Of Film And Television Arts) Awards … meaning he is good.
There is also Heath Ledger. But seeing as he is dead, this is not going to happen. But he would have been fantastic as Cobain. He was deep, dark, and a little troubled in his own right. He also displayed top quality acting chops, and while he was alive, Ledger could pretty much take on any role thrown at him.
And why not Emma Watson? Cate Blanchett played Bob Dylan and got nominated for an Academy Award. There is no reason why Hermione Grainger can’t turn into the grunge rocker. And she could also bring a whole new audience to appreciate Cobain.
From here, the list goes on and on. But it’s all in the hands of Courtney Love now, more or less. Hopefully this turns out OK.
Amy Adams and her fiancé Darren Le Gallo welcomed their 7-lbs. daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo on Saturday in Los Angeles, reports PEOPLE.com.
“Mom and baby are home and doing great,” said Adams’ rep. “Everyone’s healthy and happy.”
Adams and Le Gallo planned to find out the sex of their baby shortly after announcing her pregnancy in December.
“We’ll probably find out,” Adams admitted. “I thought about waiting and I just don’t think that’s really my personality.”
Then with the nine months to prepare for the bundle of joy, Adams made sure to take care of her own needs along the way.
“It’s been good for me,” Adams told USA Today. “I’ve benefited a lot from taking some downtime and working on friendships and really reconnecting with my fiancé.”
Katy Perry has performed at many award shows in the past. She has rocked the MTV awards show and the VMA’s, with a mind-boggling version of Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Then, Perry got engaged to VMA host Russell Brand.
And According to MTV News, Perry is not stopping there. She is set to perform at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6. Perry will play the first single, “California Gurls,” off of her new upcoming album, Teenage Dream.
“I’m proud to represent the West Coast at the MTV Movie Awards in the magical glow of the Hollywood sign with my new single ‘California Gurls,’” Perry said. “I hope it will be the theme song to a lot of summer loving; I know it will in my house!”
Perry is also joining previously announced performer Christina Aguilera at the show next month.
The award show airs live on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET and is hosted by Aziz Ansari. Fans can vote for their favourite films and actors at MovieAwards.MTV.com. “The Hangover” is leading the way with six nominations, followed by “New Moon” and “Avatar” both with five.
That’s right! You are not alone. That is, if you were disappointed by the Indian Jones sequel, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And guess what … star of the movie, Shia LaBeouf, felt the same way, reports MTV News.
Last week at the Cannes Film Festival, LaBeouf made his opinion on the movie very clear.
“I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” LaBeouf said. “You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, director]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple.”
But the star was not just concentrated and concerned about himself. LaBeouf is aware of the perception that’s out there and he shows respect for the audience.
“I think the audience is pretty intelligent. I think they know when you’ve made [crap],” LaBeouf said. “And I think if you don’t acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you’re promoting a movie?”
This unusual display of honesty in an industry typically driven by studios and publicists is quite nice. But there is always the down side for speaking out.
“I’ll probably get a call,” LaBeouf said. “But [Spielberg] needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven … And I would never disrespect the man … But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.”
Last night, a United Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to a fire in the cockpit. And according to E! Online, Ashley Olsen was among the 100 or so passengers on the flight.
But, don’t fear, Olsen was not alone. She had the full support and safety from her Hangover-actor-boyfriend, Justin Bartha, who was also on the flight.
An electrical fire caused a crack in the plane’s windshield which resulted in the need for the emergency landing. The flight was bound for Los Angeles from JFK, but landed safely at Washington Dulles International Airport at about 9:30 p.m.
On the runway, fire trucks and emergency vehicles met the plane but no one was hurt. The passengers were rebooked on flights leaving this morning for The City of Angels.
Olsen’s rep confirmed that she and Bartha were present on the flight and are OK. But no word on where they spent the night or what they did.
Pamela Adlon, Californication actress, and Jarrod Spector of Broadway’s Jersey Boys, were also passengers on the flight.
Planning a wedding is never easy. And planning a wedding with Katy Perry and Russell Brand couldn’t be harder.
But Perry already has a few ideas for the couple’s perfect day.
And according to MTV News, Perry revealed that she intends to keep the wedding quite small. They couple is also planning to host “a big, fat reception for the people who can’t make it,” to the ceremony.
“I always have a ton of people around me, and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each other’s lives,” Perry said.
Among the important details of the wedding, Perry is focused on who will design her wedding dress.
“We have been kind of talking to [John] Galliano, because that was the first [fashion] show in Paris that we kind of came out as a couple,” Perry said. “So if we did Galliano, it would make it full circle.”
Another important detail is the location of the wedding. The couple is now considering shaking things up, and not hosting the wedding in Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara, California, as originally planned.
“We don’t necessarily want it to be a drunk fest of people just, you know, one night and then forgetting about it,” Perry said. “We want it to be about the love. So sometimes to be about the love, we have to take them out of their comfort zone.”
Miami Heat basketball super star Dwyane Wade is missing from the NBA playoffs while his wife Siohvaughn Wade, missed a mandatory court appearance today, reports TMZ. Now, law enforcement officials are on the hunt for Siohvaughn.
Earlier today, Siohvaughn blew off a court hearing in Chicago regarding her divorce war with the basketball star. The judge then threatened to issue a body attachment order unless Siohvaughn were to show up in the afternoon.
The afternoon came and passed, and Siohvaughn never showed up.
As a result, the judge issued the order and now police will seek Siohvaughn out and take her into custody.
In the past, Siohvaughn has made many sensational claims against Dwyane. The most recent, however, is of the NBA all-star engaging in “sexual foreplay” with his new girlfriend in front of his children. Wow!
Dwyane was present at the court hearing today and denied all of Siohvaughn’s allegations.
That is right Jersey Shore fans, say so long to your favourite, Snooki. And while you’re at it, say good-bye to the Situation and Pauly D.
Jersey Shore producers are searching for all new cast members for the third season of the hit TV series, reports DOSE.ca. This meaning that the heavily-tanned and muscled cast will be out of a job after next season.
However, there is one question. Why are Snooki and The Shore cast being given the boot? They are massively popular and draw in tons of viewers for MTV, with their crazy drama. And the answer is, the money.
Reportedly, the network was unhappy that the cast demanded a massive raise for the second season. The cast managed to negotiate up to $10 000 US per episode.
But not to worry, there is still one more season with the original Jersey kids. They are currently filming the second season in Miami, which will premiere July 29. And in the mean time, director Doron Ofir is casting for several Jersey Shore spinoffs.
The spinoffs include; The Persian Version, Wicked Summer, Chongas and Friggin’ Weddings. And by the way, this is no joke. Please prepare yourself.
In his new movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Jake Gyllenhaal is a fearless hero, Prince Dastan. The actor bulked up and mastered sword fighting.
And of all the things Gyllenhaal mastered, his fear of ostriches was not one of them, reports People.com.
“They would say, ‘Don’t make any noise around the ostriches. They’ll tear out your eyes and rip out your heart.’ So, I was naturally terrified,” Gyllenhaal said. “They look like they’re innocent, but they’re really not.”
Gemma Arterton, Gyllenhaal’s co-star, can confirm the actor’s fear of the flightless bird.
“He was really scared,” Arterton said. “He ran away, and the look on his face – it’s not acting. It’s real.”
Arterton also seems to have had better luck on set with animals, than Gyllenhaal.
“I did a horse-riding stunt, which took me two weeks to rehearse,” Arterton said. “I had to jump onto a horse while it was galloping towards me. It was pretty scary, and I’m proud of myself for doing it, and I made sure that I looked over my shoulder so that everyone knew it was me and not a stunt double.”
Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s (the train wreck) father, had a letter sent to the judge in Lindsay Lohan’s DUI probation case, reports TMZ. However, the letter was no ordinary letter. It was asking for inpatient rehab or alternatively, random drug testing, for Lindsay and no jail.
The letter acknowledges “… Lindsay may have violated the terms of her probation by missing multiple court-ordered alcohol education classes.” And furthermore, the letter appears as an attempt to keep the star from jail time.
Lisa Bloom, Michael’s lawyer, claims he is urging the judge to put Lindsay in a private drug rehab facility in New York, and Michael also wants family counselling. This is because the loving father is “gravely concerned” about Lindsay’s “deterioration.”
But there is a minor problem with Michael’s request. What if the judge won’t bite on the rehab? Probation is the answer. Bloom and Michael are asking the judge to extend her probation and subject Lindsay to “frequent, random, court-ordered drug testing.”
And like all good things in life, this letter comes to an end. Michael does not want his little LiLo to become “the next Hollywood statistic.” Good luck Michael?
Oh, James Franco and his many roles. He has been a spaced out stoner, a jealous rich boy turned villain turned friend, and a great boyfriend. But, according to People.com, Franco’s favourite role is being a professional student.
“I love school,” Franco said, at the Tribeca Film Festival screening of his directorial debut, the documentary Saturday Night. The screening took place in New York on Sunday.
“I go to school because I love being around people who are interested in what I’m interested in and I’m having a great experience.”
The varied movie star is currently studying filmmaking at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Back in June 2008, he graduated from UCLA with an undergraduate degree in English, and also enrolled in an MFA writing program at New York’s Columbia University.
“I’m studying things that I love so it’s not like it’s a chore,” Franco said.
And with his film completed, Franco is pretty sure he passed and is not worried about his final grade.
“School is a way to take my other pursuits like directing and writing seriously,” Franco said. “I could go out and make movies and direct movies having not gone to school, but being at school I’m in touch with incredible teachers, incredible writers who are in an environment where they are solely focused helping people in becoming a better director, writer. At film school I know that the feedback is real and honest and only makes you a better filmmaker.”
