A British newspaper issued an apology to Alice in Wonderland Helena Bonham Carter for printing unfounded claims about her home life with Tim Burton, reports Perez Hilton. The piece said the family was living in separate houses with Bonham Carter in one, Burton in another and their two children and a nanny in a third. The truth is that the family lives in one large house with three interconnected living spaces.

“The comment that this arrangement is ‘not so much eccentric as chilling,’ is unfounded and we accept that Helena Bonham Carter is a caring mother and apologize to her for suggesting otherwise,” the editors of the paper said in a statement.

Season seven Dancing with the Stars winner, Brooke Burke, will be taking over Samantha Harris’s role as Tom Bergeron’s co-host on the celebrity dancing show, reports E! News. The 38-year-old former Wild On! hostess will be responsible for interviewing contestants backstage.

“She cleans up nice,” Bergeron said. “She’ll be able to talk to the couples backstage with the perspective of having been through it herself.”

Season ten of Dancing with the Stars begins March 22 on ABC.

Aspen authorities may call Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Denise Richards, to testify about an incident that occurred when the two were married, reports TMZ. Richards claims the Two and a Half Men star got physical during an argument while she was holding their daughter, Lola.

“He pushed me, shoving me with his two hands between my shoulders,” she said. ”I was forced backward and tripped over one of the children’s toys and fell on the floor with Lola.” He then reportedly pointed his finger at her and screamed, “I hope you f*cking die, bitch.”

Following the incident, Richards sought out a restraining order against her then-husband.

Sheen denied the allegations at the time.

The incident may have some significance in the case regarding similar accusations against Sheen on behalf of his current wife, Brooke Mueller.

Richards says she will cooperate in testifying if forced to do so by subpoena.

After coming out of the closet more than a year ago, Clay Aiken is advocating for gay rights, reports E! News.

“We have a great deal of more work to do,” said the American Idol runner-up at a Human Rights Campaign dinner Saturday in North Carolina. “Our time is now, and it’s about damn time.”

He said he is fighting for equality for everyone, and spoke about why he waited so long to speak publicly about his sexuality.

“Why the hell it took me so long?,” said Aiken. “I was waiting like so many folks are waiting, for change. I realized the time for waiting has passed. The power of truth and living honestly is very liberating.”

Aiken and his longtime friend, music producer Jaymes Foster, have an 18-month-old son, Parker, who was conceiving through in vitro fertilization.

U2 is at the top of Billboard’s musician money charts, reports CBC. The band earned $108.9 million in 2009.

The Irish rockers were also the top touring act of the year, selling 1.3 million tickets for the 20 shows on their 360 Degree world tour. The tour – still ongoing – is the most expensive one in history.

The 2009 earnings chart placed Bruce Springsteen in second with $57.6 million and Madonna, who earned $47 million, in third. Also on the list of last year’s top earners were AC/DC, Britney Spears, Pink, Jonas Brothers, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney and Metallica.

Jersey Shore‘s Snooki and Vinny were at Solo in Manhattan Saturday to celebrate the Jewish holiday Purim when the club’s overhead glass atrium shattered unexpectedly, reports E! News.

“It’s okay Vin and I are still alive,” Tweeted Snooki. “Omg roof just collapsed at the Purim event! We thought the DJ was beatin’ the beat hardcore but nope, the roof couldn’t handle Snooki and Vin.”

Vinny also took to his Twitter in the midst of all the excitement. “Roof just collapsed at Purim event,” he wrote. “I think me and @sn00ki felt the wrath for not being Jewish.”

A few guests suffered minor injuries, but no one was seriously hurt.

“The roof may have fallen and no one got hurt, but the party still goes on!,” Snookie continued. “I’m glad everyone’s OK. Thank you to the owners of Solo Restaurant for taking care of everybody and letting us keep the Purim party poppin’!”

British cinema chain Odeon has reached a deal with Walt Disney Studios regarding the 3-D movie Alice in Wonderland, reversing a previously announced boycott of the film, reports CBC. The flick, which opens across Europe and North America March 5, will be screened in Odeon’s theatres throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and Italy.

Director Tim Burton’s take on the classic story premiered Thursday night in London’s West end at Leicester Square cinema, owned by Odeon, mere hours after the agreement was reached.

Following “detailed negotiations with the Walt Disney Company Ltd., an enduring agreement has been reached encompassing all the different aspects of both companies’ commercial relationship,” Odeon announced in a statement.

The United Kingdom’s largest theatre chain announced its plans to boycott the film in three countries early this week because of Disney’s plans to release the movie on DVD 12 weeks after its theatrical debut. The typical time span between when a movie hits theatres and when it is appears in stores on DVD is 17 weeks. Cineworld and Vue, Odeon’s rival theatre chains, agreed to a 13-week window between the opening and the DVD release.

During a rescue mission to Haiti, actor Sean Penn personally saved at least two lives, reports TMZ. He and his daughter Dylan drove an hour-and-a-half to rescue a woman and an orphaned child who were trapped in rubble outside the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince.

The woman suffered leg injuries and the child had head injuries. Penn drove them to a University of Miami hospital camp to receive treatment. He then waited with them and took them back to his place to stay until they can find somewhere else to go.

Aerosmith has announced the entire band – including frontman Steven Tyler – will participate in their “Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock” European tour this summer, reports CBC. This comes after public squabbling and threats of a lineup change.

“I just auditioned and I got the gig,” jokes Tyler in a promotional video featuring him sitting with his band mates. “We’re coming your way and rocking your world! Look out, because here we come.”

The band has been on hiatus since Tyler injured himself falling off stage during a show last August. They were forced to cancel the rest of their tour.

In December, Tyler checked himself into rehab for a pain killer addiction.

“Everything right now in Aero-land is very copacetic,” said band member Joey Kramer. “We will carry on and do what we do best. The one common denominator that we still all have is that we all love to get up on stage and rock out, play music and bring joy to people. And we let the other drama, as of late, kind of filter itself out by the wayside and concentrate on more of what’s important, which is the playing and the business at hand.”

Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock begins June 10 in Sweden.

Chekezie Eze, who placed tenth on season seven of American Idol, was busted for felony identity theft at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, reports TMZ. The singer attempted to use “fraudulent means” – possibly a phony cheque or credit card – to make a purchase.

Store security detained him until the police arrived to take him to the Beverly Hills jail. He has been released on $50,000 bail.

Jerry Seinfeld’s driver, a retired police officer, was caught using a Bronx police placard he should have turned in two years ago upon his retirement, reports E! News. He reportedly placed it in his window when escorting the star into the studio for a taping of reality show The Marriage Ref, which Seinfeld produces.

Elizabeth Clark Zoia, a representative for Seinfeld, said he takes responsibility for the incident and apologizes, even though he was not aware the pass was being used.

After only one show, Akon has quit his gig hosting a radio show at a London radio station, reports Perez Hilton. He was supposed to host a two-hour slot every Saturday, but following the February 13 premiere, a previous host took over.

“Due to Akon’s commitments, including working on a brand new album, we won’t be broadcasting a regular show on 95.8 Capital FM for the time being,” said a spokesperson for the station. “Our conversations about future shows are ongoing as we explore other opportunities that may work for both of us.”

Rapper 50 Cent is facing a lawsuit for allegedly editing himself into a sex tape of a Florida woman and then posting the footage on the Internet, reports E! News. 50 Cent appears in the video wearing a large wig and using the pseudonym Big Pimpin’ Curly.

Lastonia Leviston, the woman in the video, filed a lawsuit with the Manhattan Supreme Court, claiming the rapper used her name and likeness without her permission and caused her emotional distress in doing so.

Her boyfriend appears in the video with her, but his face is blurred in the version released by 50 Cent. He allegedly claimed to have destroyed the video, but instead gave or sold it to 50 Cent.

Leviston is seeking unspecified damages in her claim.

Johnny Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis prefer not to shower, choosing to stay ”unruly” whenever they can, reports Perez Hilton. Depp, who has been promoting his upcoming film Alice in Wonderland, says he and Paradis are happy to just live peacefully.

“We have a great place in the South of France,” he said. “It’s a little hamlet – only 45 acres – and I don’t do anything. I’ve not left the property for three months at a time. I literally just wake up, go out, check the garden and see the vegetables growing. It’s a pristine existence in terms of simplicity. In case the South of France ever proves too stressful for the Pirates of the Caribbean star, he’s purchased his own island in the Caribbean.

“Like everything else in my life it wasn’t planned, it just kind of happened. I went on vacation to escape with my kiddies and my girl and someone said that there was an island down the road for sale. I said, ‘Let’s go see it.’ I looked at it, I walked on it and I was done. It had to be. It came at the perfect moment. The island provides me with simplicity and somewhere I can go where no one is looking at me or pointing a camera or a finger at me. I can just be. When we’re there we do absolutely nothing.

“I feel I’m not getting photographed by the paparazzi enough,” the quirky actor added, presumably sarcastically. “So I figure I’ll go and hang out in Venice with Brad and Angelina.”

Depp began filming his next film, The Tourist, with Angelina Jolie this week. The film is expected to be released early next year.

Charlie Sheen is being charged in Aspen with felony menacing and misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident with wife Brooke Mueller that occurred Christmas Day, reports TMZ. However, the case may never go to trial, as Sheen says he is open to a plea bargain that involves a misdemeanor. A bargain cannot be entered for at least 60 days, though.

A protective order that bars Sheen and Mueller from communicating is expected to be relaxed. The pair then plan to fly home to Los Angeles and begin living together again.
