The potato seemed to be willing Ginger the kitten to attack it with its unsteady roll and disregard for getting in anyone’s way. Ginger acted fast and went into attack mode. Or as her owner says on YouTube: She makes everything a potential toy. [AvrilLynn1]

Cheesy lingo and terrible plot lines?! I smell a good-bad teen movie. And I’m in. Here are our 10 fave teen movies:
Pretty in Pink
One of Jon Cryer and Molly Ringwald’s most famous roles was playing “Duckie” and Andie in John Hughe’s Pretty in Pink. When it came out in 1986, Pretty in Pink became an instant classic and still is today. Andie is surviving high school but when Blane, a rich, sensitive playboy is interested in her, she finds herself in a triangle, seeing as her best friend Duckie has had a crush on her for years. The movie is all about whether or not a relationship between a rich guy and a poor girl can work in high school where status is everything.
The Breakfast Club
Another John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club follows a day in the life of five teenagers stuck in detention, all starting off as part of a clique or typical high school stereotype. You have the jock, the smart kid, the school beauty, the rebel and the freak. What’s great about this movie is that by the end of it they all realize their similarities rather than focusing on their differences. This 1985 classic can resonate with any generation.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Another teen classic is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off . Released in 1986, everyone fell in-love with Matthew Broderick when he played a teenager who skips school for the day and instead sets out on an adventure through Chicago with his girlfriend, Sloan and overly-cautious best friend, Cameron. What I love about this movie, amongst all the scheming and lying, it actually has a few great lessons.

You might wonder why the leaf katydid has survived Darwin’s Survival of the Fittest for so damn long. Their biggest strength? They look like leaves, dude. Exactly like leaves. I’m starting to become obsessed with these educational YouTube videos by zefrank1. Previously he’s covered the tarsier and sloths.
Jimmy Fallon had a tough job ahead of him when a viewer requested he predict the outcome of the Super Bowl using a litter of puppies. Fallon, being the dexterous late night host he is, found a litter of adorable Golden Retrievers, woke them from their peaceful slumber and told them to run for whichever food bowl they thought was tastier.
One bowl was marked “Ravens” and the other was marked “49ers” for Baltimore and San Francisco. Watch to see who they predicted!
I’m not too up-to-date on my men’s room psychology except for the fact that it’s completely different than women’s room psychology, which is based around primping, gossiping and hiding. Johnny Madpants parody video “Creepy Guy — In the Men’s Room” chronicles a dude who’s made to feel uncomfortable by an overly friendly urinator. He writes on YouTube: “This really happened to me once. I was taking a piss and a dude actually took the urinal next to me. After a great emotional distress I had to call 1-800 mental services for help.”
If Gusto the kitten was expected to pay his dues, he could certainly make a living as a hairstylist. For some reason, he can’t stop licking his owner’s head. DrNekonian writes on YouTube: “I don’t need to shower anymore because of Gusto.” (UGH, gross.)
Isn’t it nice when the fates align and you’re rewarded for your bravery? Teen Jacob Rudolph came out during a class awards ceremony on Tuesday in front of his 300 classmates and was later surprised by George Takei on television.
The New Jersey high school senior was accepting an award for Class Actor and had this to say to his classmates: “I would like to thank everyone for voting me Class Actor,” Rudolph said. “Sure, I’ve been in a few plays and musicals, but more importantly I’ve been acting every single day of my life.”
“You see, I’ve been acting as someone I’m not. Most of you see me acting every day, you see me acting the part of “straight Jacob,” but I’m actually an LGBT teen – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender.”
He was met with a standing ovation from his classmates.
While he was on Anderson Live! to talk about the experience, he was surprised with his idol, George Takei. The Star Trek star is openly gay and had encouraging words for him.
Flooding at McGill University has gotten so extreme it’s literally picking people up off the ground and sweeping them away like they’re white water rafting. The flooding was caused by a burst in a reservoir near the University. One girl was swept away while trying to cross the street — thankfully she wasn’t hurt, but OUCH!
I love how the people recording her are all like: “Should someone be helping her right now?”
Have you ever gone to a really modern art gallery, stared at the paintings, installations — whatever — on the walls and thought: “WTH am I looking at?” When I don’t get a specific piece of art, part of me feels slightly dense and the other part of me thinks a five-year-old could do some of the pieces that pass as art. Keep in mind, I really respect art and I’m generalizing here.
Art ninjas DougAnd Mikael decided to test out what could pass as art by hijacking two galleries and posing for art-lovers. While some of them walk by like “what’s that crazy person doing?” others pull out their cameras and sincerely reflect over the “art.”
Delivering mail probably gets pretty tiresome around this time of the year. In the summer, you’re basically walking in the sun, enjoying the heat but in the winter it gets all slushy, salty and wet. At least this adorable Golden Retriever makes things a little easier on this mailman who 1) Gets to hang out with the cutest dog ever, even if it’s just for a couple seconds 2) Doesn’t have the worry about the mail safely getting to the recipient — the dog has it covered.
Party planner extraordinaire and late night host Jimmy Kimmel threw a baby shower for a pregnant Kim Kardashian and her sister Kourtney. The two were there to promote their new show Kim and Kourtney in Miami so it was only natural Kimmel present her with a gift.
He gave her a book of baby names that all start with “K,” which is pretty perfect when you think about all the K’s in their family: Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and soon Kanye. Krazy!
My favourite potential name? “Kite Runner.”
Last Friday Kanye set the Twitter world into a state of confusion when he went on another one-word tweet rampage. Could these be potential baby names?
Kim and Kourtney also chatted about who found out about baby Kanye first (Part 1), whether or not the baby will be on the show (Part 2) and who in the family hates Scott (Part 3).

Loki the kitten had a pretty adventurous day when she was introduced by TheSorryGirls to a tiny hedgehog named Harley. While they kept their distance from each other at first, the hedgehog eventually made it out of his plastic box and they box started napping like BFFs. Combined with the soft, ukelele version of “You’ve Got A Friend,” it’s enough to make me tear up.
Here at ANDPOP we’ve seen a variety of strange instruments being used to cover mainstream songs, but using bottles to play Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is right up there at the top. Italy’s The Bottle Boys on the streets of Ferrara this past summer, though their YouTube video is just going viral now. I love how the acoustics echo off the old walls of of the village. Previously they’ve done covers of “Gangnam Style” and “Party Rock Anthem,” though there’s a bit of disagreement over how original this particular cover is.
Replace the lyrics of the “Tra La La La Song” to “one bong, two bong, three bong four. All bongs make a hit and so do many more” and you’ve pretty much got the concept of Dune Rat’s new music video.
In the Pilerats-directed ”Red Light Green Light” they smoke a heroic amount of pot from makeshift Gatorade bongs in less than three minutes. This is all much to the amusement of their friends who can’t stop laughing when the glazed-eyed guys sit back smugly and revel in all the bongs they went through.
Welcome to Australia right?
Previously they released the Toby Cregan-directed ”Red Version” of the video, which involved them running around NYC’s Coney Island theme park. Later this year, they’re releasing a documentary called American Death Trip of Dreams.

I’m really glad my cat Farley doesn’t have Jedi powers because he would surely turn evil like Darth Vader. He sits by the back door of my house all day in an army shaped cat bad, staring at the squirrels he wants to prey on. I’m sure if he could use the force, those poor, fluffy squirrels wouldn’t have a shot. Read more…

This 84-year-old man was invited by his son and a friend to test out the video game Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 and they never thought he’d react so positively. He gets so into the games that he literally can’t mask any joyous jitter or cackle that comes out. He literally moves the controller in the direction he wants it to go, just like I used to do when I played my first video game in primary school. Whatgame do you think he should play next?
Why do movie studios spend so much money on trailers for big, blockbusters when they can just make low budget teasers in a neighbour’s backyard? Okay, so the result of using a shaky camera phone and action figures instead of real actors is pretty shitty but then our expectations would be set so low that the movie would be AMAZING in comparison. Holy shit. MGK is the KING.
We’re giving him an honorary gold crown (with an official ANDPOP engraving of course) for giving one of the most chilled out, honest interviews we’ve ever had. ANDPOP’s Casey Jones sat down with the Cleveland rapper and knew it would be a good interview as soon as he started rolling a joint, completely casual. Read more…

Turns out January was a big month for news bloopers. Now, instead of making a blunder on live TV and waiting for the fuss to die down, those horrendous mistakes will live on forever courtesy of YouTube. Then if you’re so lucky, you’ll find an entire monthly compilation floating around online. NewsBeFunny included everything from that reporter getting crushed by a footballer to that Irish newscaster who applied makeup on live TV.
