(andPOP) - Psycho-killer veteran Anthony Hopkins and Canadian Ryan Gosling team up for a smart, twist-ridden thriller in "Fracture."
Gosling plays Willy Beachum, a lawyer on the ride, while Academy Award winner Hopkins portrays the cunning suspect, Ted Crawford. Beachum, a district attorney prosecutor with a 97 per cent conviction rate, thought it was a sure-win attempted murder case when Crawford eliminated the suspense of “Who dun it?” by admitting to brutally shooting his wife. Instead, Beachum finds himself entangled in a web of a trial that unexpectedly involves adultery, a missing weapon and Crawford’s endless mind games.
Though a strong film throughout and overall, the conclusion drags on and impatience starts to grow for a non-CIS/Law and Order fanatic.
Available in widescreen with Dolby digital surround sound, the DVD has five deleted scenes, including two variations of a love scene between Gosling and leading lady, Rosamund Pike. Director Gregory Hoblit also provides two plausible alternate endings in the Special Features section. Surprisingly, the alternate endings give a more dramatic resolution than the original storyline.
