(andPOP) - The Over the Top Festival returns to Toronto this Thursday for its sixth year.
The festival, which features music, films and theatre, runs until Sunday, with tickets available through Ticketscene.ca, Rotate This and Soundscapes.
One of the highlights is a performance from Daniel Johnston, the subject of the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston, on Sunday at the Mod Club with Mayor McCa opening.
Among the other artists performing are DD/MM/YYYY, Meligrove Band, Michael Gira, Mt. Eerie, Japanther, Yah Mos Def and Jason Trachtenburg.
New to the Over the Top Fest this year is a film fest at the National Film Board of Canada on Saturday and two theatrical performances – Giant Killer Shark: The Musical and Stacked Crooked: Contemporary Dance Performance – at the Annex Theatre.
"In previous years, the festival was limited to music although I wanted to get outside that box," festival organizer Eric Warner said. "Each and every year it's going to grow and we'll see what happens with it."
