Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - MTV Networks has created a new channel, MTV Tr3s, aimed at Latino youth.
Tr3s is pronounced as the Spanish word for three and viewers can watch it on some digital cable systems, on the DirecTV satellite system, and on various low-power broadcast stations beginning Monday.
Like its parent channel, Tr3s will focus on music, with programs that will feature artists such as Shakira, Sean Paul, Jeremias and the Kumbia Kings.
Many Tr3s shows will be Latino spin-offs of popular programs currently seen on MTV, such as "MiTRL" ("Total Request Live"), "Quiero Mis Quinces" ("My Super Sixteen"), and "Pimpeando" ("Pimp My Ride").
Los Angeles-based actor-comic Carlos Santos has been named as the channel's first video jockey.
