(andPOP) - Elle Magazine had Hilary Duff grace the June cover with headline news that she was going to remain a virgin until marriage. However in a recent interview at Muchmusic, Duff claimed that she never said that.

Elle Magazine quoted Duff as saying, "It's harder having a boyfriend who's older because people just assume. But (virginity) is definitely something I like about myself. It doesn't mean I haven't thought about sex, because everyone I know has had it and you want to fit in," reports hollywood.com.

Duff, 18, who is currently dating singer Joel Madden, denies she told Elle’s reporter personal information regarding her virginity and is appalled by the false story.

On her recent trip to Toronto, Duff visited the Muchmusic headquarters and cleared up the Elle article.

"The thing is that I didn't say that. I wouldn't say that. I don't know how [the writer] got that out of what I said." Duff went on to say that the subject is "definitely not something that I would talk about or that I would want people to focus on. Or that I even think it's appropriate to talk about. Whose business is that?"
