Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Jack Johnson, Howie Day, Citizen Cope and O.A.R. are among the artists who will appear on ?Rock for Relief,? a new compilation intended to help victims of natural disaster, reports Billboard.
The album, due Jan. 31, is a cooperative effort between Foundations and Zoe/Rounder Records. Proceeds will be donated to nonprofit aid organization Mercy Corps to benefit victims of the Indian Ocean tsunamis, hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita and the earthquake in Pakistan.
Johnson contributes a live rendition of ?Times Like These,? a track from his 2003 album ?On and On.? Day offers an alternative version of ?Collide,? while Guster contributes a song previously available only in limited released, "Say That to My Face."
Artists like Dispatch, Marc Broussard and Ari Hest will also appear on the album.
"The idea to put together an album that would benefit victims of the natural disasters from the past year came about shortly after the Indian Ocean Tsunamis," says the album's executive producer, Steve Bursky.
"Music is a universal language that can uplift spirits, and with this album, hopefully it can also help alleviate the burdens of those suffering from natural disasters by providing them with food and other necessary resources, through our beneficiary, Mercy Corps."
