Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Australian rock act Silverchair is back after a three-year hiatus.
The band is rehearsing in regional New South Wales and hope to road-test their new material in Australia early next year, with tentative plans to go into the studio in May, Billboard reported Friday.
Although they reunited for a one-off performance at Sydney?s WaveAid tsunami benefit concert in January, the band members had split off into other projects during the extended break. Lead singer/guitarist Daniel Johns formed the Dissociatives with producer Paul Mac and drummer Ben Gilles formed Tambalane.
"Waveaid was an amazing experience and it was really the catalyst that made us all want to start making music together again," said Johns, according to Billboard. "We're totally enjoying playing together at the moment. We're looking forward to eventually doing some gigs to try out the new songs and to then hopefully making a new album."
Silverchair had its big break in 1994 with the album ?Frogstomp,? when the band members were still teenagers.
