(andPOP) - Country singer Shania Twain will receive the Order of Canada on Friday.
Twain will be among 43 recipients honoured by Governor General Michaelle Jean.
CTV.ca says Twain was a last minute recipient.
The Governor General's office said her nomination is the result of her remaining true to her Canadian roots (she is a native of Timmins, Ont.) and her dedication to eliminating child hunger (she supports several food banks and breakfast programs).
"According to the Governor General's office, Officers of the Order of Canada have demonstrated an outstanding level of talent and service to Canadians", reports CTV.ca.
