(andPOP) - Daryl Brunt ended the opening medley of Wednesday night's Canadian Idol with a soft shining moment. The audience was quiet, captivated by his voice. This seemed almost an omen to his elimination only minutes later. A beautiful harmony graced the Idol stage, as the contestants sang to impress, finishing the set with "Someone to Watch Over Me." However, the glitz of the standards faded fast as Ben announced the results.

The bottom three stayed standing after the others were sent to the stools- Aaron Walpole, Casey LeBlanc, and Daryl Brunt. Casey was sent to join the other safe contestants after a surprising apology from Zack. He told Canada, "We were lucky to have her," complimenting her resilience and determination in the competition. Aaron and Daryl remained standing, but it was quickly announced that Daryl was the one to go this week.

Daryl took the bad news well, thanking everyone who he felt played a part in his success in the competition. He only broke down when he picked up the microphone to sing for Canada one final time putting every last bit of emotion into his final performance. Perhaps Ben Mulroney was right when he told Daryl, "You were put on this earth to be a star."

Next week the final six competitors tackle the theme of Classic Rock. Will the Classics prove to be as easy for the idols as the Standards? Classic rockers are still out there strutting boldly on their latest revival tours. Would they have tried out for Canadian Idol? The Who, the Eagles, the Stones, Linda Rondstadt, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith- which rocker will they emulate? Hopefully not AC/DC, the outfits just don?t work anymore. Who will succeed and who will slip? We?ll find out next Tuesday night on Canadian Idol.
