Hoping to mimic ABC's hit show "Dancing with The Stars," NBC is planning a "I'm a Celebrity but I Want to Be a Pop Star" series, according to Variety.
The announcement of this new project follows in the wake of another celebrity-cast show that was revealed on June 14, Fox's production in the works, "Skating with the Stars."
The premise of "I'm a Celebrity but I Want to Be a Pop Star" has the celebrities being trained in singing and dancing before they compete for audience approval. The celebrities have not yet been determined.
The finished product will be "American Idol" meets "So You Think You Can Dance." The latter show, which premieres on July 20 on Fox, announced last weekend that Laura Sanchez will be its host.
Britain already has a series airing called, "Soap Star/Super Star." Its production team, Granada America, is teaming up with NBC to produce "I'm a Celebrity but I Want to Be a Pop Star."
