Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Paula Abdul, the centre of an American Idol controversy that could shakeup her career and the program, is planning on appearing on Saturday Night Live tonight.
Corey Clark, a second season contestant who was kicked off after producers uncovered his criminal past, alleged this week that he had an affair with Abdul while competing on the show. He told ABC's Primetime Live during a "Fallen Idol" special this week that Abdul also coached him, bought him clothes, picked his songs, and gave him medication prescribed under her name.
Abdul has not denied the allegations, but instead has issued a statement saying that she doesn't respond to "lies."
"I have been taught never, never to lie. Not only do I never lie, I never respond to lies, no matter how vicious, no matter how hurtful," she said.
But instead of hiding until America Idol airs Tuesday and Wednesday night, she will appear on Saturday Night Live, probably to make fun of herself.
NBC confirmed the news late Friday night.
Meanwhile, Fox has said that it has begun an internal investigation to decide if Clark is telling the truth, and if he is, then what to do. Clark has told the network that he has no plans to participate in their investigation.
