Reports: Tom Cruise Dating Katie Holmes

(andPOP) - According to several reports, Tom Cruise has found a new girlfriend in Katie Holmes, an actress 16 years younger than him.

Lee Anne DeVette, Cruise's sister who acts as his publicist, confirmed the news yesterday to several publications. Holmes' representatives also, gladly, confirmed the news.

News broke after photographs of Cruise and Holmes holding hands in Rome surfaced. Cruise will be honoured at the David di Donatello Awards on Friday.

A few weeks ago, Holmes and Chris Klein broke off their engagement. Now it is clear why.

Cruise was married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman and split up with girlfriend Penelope Cruz last year.

Devette says Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, the former star of Dawson's Creek, have been dating for a few weeks. It is not known yet how they met.

This is perhaps the most surprising celebrity couple since that washed up actress and rapper started dating on last season's the Surreal Life (named don't matter). It is also surprising because of the age difference.

Also, this means Ben and Jen Part 2 and Brad and Angelina will become secondary news.

Oh, and yes, this could be a publicist stunt. Surprise?they both have blockbuster movies coming out in June.
