Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Two of the hottest rappers currently tearing up the charts have decided to squash their beef with one another after an unsettling week this past month. 50 Cent and The Game battled beyond the mic after a melee involving a gun ensued outside Hot 97?s radio station headquarters between the two MC?s entourages last week. However, when it was all said and done, it was found that neither rapper was physically directly involved in the shooting.
After a decade of violence in hip hop resulting in the deaths of rap legends such as Tupac, B.I.G., and Big L (among numerous others), 50 and Game have decided to set an example of non-violence. The two have arranged a scheduled press conference to be held at 2 pm today in New York?s Harlem borough, thus setting a podium for them to publicly bring hip hop into a new millennium promoting non-violence. They intend on airing out their differences and also promised to pledge donations to charity.
"I'm launching a new foundation, the G-Unity Foundation, Inc., to help people overcome obstacles and make a change for the better in their lives ... to help them overcome their situations," 50 Cent said in a statement. "I realized that if I'm going to be effective at that, I have to overcome some of my own. Game and I need to set an example in the community."
"I see this as a real opportunity to show the power of our community," Game said in his own statement. "50 and I are proving that real situations and real problems can be solved with real talk. This can also be seen as a big step for my organization, Black Wall Street, in terms of making a difference. Maybe we can help save some lives ... the way rap music saved mine."
Here?s hoping?
More to come later tonight...
