As Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams's current hit, " Independent Women Part 1" from the Charlie's Angels soundtrack, enjoys its fifth consecutive week atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the ladies are heading back to the studio.
It has been a roller coaster ride of a year for Destiny's Child, with group members LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett being replaced by Williams and Farrah Franklin, who later parted ways with the group several months after signing on. Knowles told LAUNCH that despite the changes in the lineup, the current members of Destiny's Child remain very positive about their future.
" We feel like nothing that we've been through has ever been negative," she said. "It's always made us stronger, and we're at our height right now and the group is so solid. And throughout everything, there's no such thing as a negative thing. It always makes you stronger and it makes you positive, and survivors. That's why the next album is called Survivors, because we believe we are survivors."
Williams explained to LAUNCH that the group's next single will arrive as early as January. " The next single is called 'Survivor.' It's off the next album that will be out, hopefully, February 13, and the single will be out in January," she said. "Beyonce wrote and produced the song, and it's excellent. She's been writing the majority of the album and, like I said, this is going to be her nickname from me for the whole year--she's the hitmaker."
Knowles added that the group is working at a feverish pace to have the album ready for its scheduled February release. " Well, we'll be working on the next album until the day of Christmas, and then the day after we're back in the studio. It will be out-- the next single for the first album in January--and the next album will be out February 13."
Before Destiny's Child heads to the studio, the group is scheduled to perform at New York radio station WKTU's Miracle On 34th Street holiday concert on December 19, along with Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, 98 Degrees, Sisqo, Christina Aguilera, and others.
