(andPOP) - Dominating the Canadian urban music scene this year made Keshia Chante a worthy big winner at the 2004 Canadian Urban Music Awards.

Chante won New Artist of the Year and Video of the Year ("Bad Boy"), and picked up the Fan's Choice Awards at the sixth annual ceremony on Thursday in Toronto.
The R&B singer, 16, beat Gary Beals, In Essence, Jenna G, Kyprios, and Ray Robinson to win the New Artist award, even though she won a 2003 Award for Best R&B/Soul Single ("Shook: The Answer").
"B-Boy Stance," k-os' first single off his critically acclaimed second album "Joyful Rebellion," won the award for Hip Hop recording of the year, while Ray Robinson's "Missed Your Chance" was awarded R&B Recording of the Year.
Mr. X, who directed Chante's "Bad Boy" music video, was honoured with a Special Achievement Award. The Toronto native has directed videos for Usher, Jay-Z, R. Kelly, and Usher.
"It's good stuff," the excited X told andPOP on the way into the awards. "It's big!"
