Bad news for Tom Cruise fans: problems with directors have forced the delay of Mission: Impossible 3. Good news: Cruise has found another project to work on in the meantime, and it's with Steven Spielberg on "War of the Worlds."
Mission: Impossible 3 was set to begin production this month. Directors David Fincher and Joe Carnahan had dropped out of the project, delaying MI3's schedule.
Instead, J.J. Abrams will direct the movie, now scheduled to begin shooting next summer. He is busy with "Alias" and a new show, "Lost."
Meanwhile, a "Minority Report" reunion will see Cruise and Spielberg teaming up again. "War of the Worlds," an adaptation of the H.G. Wells book. The movie will begin shooting in November, according to the AP, while the release date could be as soon as next summer, though nothing has officially been announced.
Cruise topped the box office last week with "Collateral."
