(andPOP) - Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Anna Kournikova have all done it and now, Avril Lavigne has, a sure sign that Avril Lavigne has made it big in the entertainment industry. The young singer now has a virus named after her.

A new worm, going by several names, including Avril, Lirva and Naith, are infecting computer machines all over the world. The virus forces the user to visit Avril's web site and then tries to disable both firewall and anti-virus programs.

Once a computer is infected, the worm will do a search for HTML files (ie. index.html) and look for email addresses inside those files. Then the virus forwards itself to all those addresses using it's own built in mail server. However, reports are surfacing that there might be an error in the worm's code, preventing it from sending itself to several of the email addresses.

The worm only infects Windows based machines running Microsoft Outlook. The email message reads as follows:

"Patch is also provided to subscribed list of Microsoft Tech Support: to apply the patch immediately. Microsoft strongly urges all customers using IIS 4.0 and 5.0 who have not already done so and do not need to take additional action. Customers who have applied that patch are already protected against the vulnerability that is eliminated by a previously-released patch. Microsoft has identified a security vulnerability in Microsoft IIS 4.0 and 5.0. To prevent from the further buffer overflow attacks apply the MSO-patch."

Please make sure to upgrade your virus definations so that you can eradicate this virus.
