(andPOP) - Kevin Hearn of the Barenaked Ladies has come along way since his 1997 debut solo project, "Mothball Mint." While he should have been worrying about writing lyrics, writing music, and producing his second album, Hearn was forced to worry about something much more important than music: his life. Hearn was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, a form of blood cancer, and needed a bone marrow transplant.
Because of this treatment, Hearn required isolation for a month at the Princess Margaret Hospital. While recovering, he began working on his second solo album, which would be known as "H-Wing," named after the wing he stayed in.
Hearn rejoined the Barenaked Ladies as a changed man after two years. He has shared some interesting experiences along the way with the band, including performing at Superbowl Weekend, and the Olympics, and conquering the U.S. markets.
On a rare off day, Hearn joined andPOP to speak about his life, the group, eating pizza with Lou Reed, and much more.
