Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Nintendo is updating it’s bag of tricks for 2009.
The Nintendo “DSi”, an upgraded version of the Nintendo “DS”, is the newest product of the assembly line, and will include a along with the feature of playing games, two 0.3 megapixel cameras, slightly larger screens, music playback (in MP3 AAC format), an SD card storage, a built-in Web browser and last but not least, the Nintendo DS store.
At the kickoff of a two-day press event to hype this fall's new Wii and DS games, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told reporters that the newly announced Nintendo "DSi" won't be shipping Stateside for a while, possibly well into 2009.
The "DSi" will also be using "touch screen" technology in moderation, as users can tap the screen to modify the pitch and playback speed of a song.
Although it boasts this array of features, the "DSi" has removed the GBA cartridge slot. However, the DS Store does open the possibility for Nintendo to sell those now-incompatible games to users.
