Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Hey Rosetta! and their album "Into Your Lungs" have a chance to sweep the competition when XM Canada's first-ever Verge Music Awards takes place later this month.
Organizers announced the list of finalists Tuesday, with the St. John's-based band making the cut in both award categories: artist and album of the year.
The Verge, channel 52 on XM Satellite Radio, showcases new and emerging indie and alternative artists across Canada.
The awards shortlist was gleaned from more than 45,000 online votes cast by Canadians over the last few months.
An advisory panel, made up of members of the XM Satellite Radio music programming department, will now select the winners based on artist integrity.
The two awards will be presented Sept. 24 at Toronto's Tattoo Rock Parlour, with the winner in each category receiving $25,000.
The event, featuring performances from Broken Social Scene, The Stills and Sebastien Grainger, will go live-to-air across North America on The Verge beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
