(andPOP) - Hip-hop and dance music meet country on the upcoming compilation "Johnny Cash Remixed."

The album, executive produced by the late country legend's son, features such contemporary artists as Snoop Dogg putting their own spin on recordings licensed from Cash's first label, Sun Records.

Snoop, who is also an executive producer on the album, remixes the 1956 hit "I Walk The Line" via QDT, a new production team the rapper has formed with Teddy Riley and DJ Quik.

Other remixes include "Folsom Prison Blues" by Pete Rock, "Get Rhythm" by Philip Steir and "Leave That Junk Alone" by Alabama 3, creators of the theme from "The Sopranos."

"[Johnny Cash] would have loved this remix record," son John Carter Cash, who also produced the 2005 Cash biopic "Walk The Line," said in a statement.

"While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music."

The album will be released in stores and online on Oct. 14, while a deluxe vinyl edition will be available in select independent record stores on Sept. 23.

A documentary about the making of "Remixed" is also in production.
