Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Ruben Studdard, the former champ of “American Idol,” exchanged vows with his girlfriend on Saturday, reports E! News.
Studdard had 20 groomsmen by his side at the ceremony that took place at Canterbury United Methodist Church in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala.
The season two “Idol” winner met Surata Zuri McCants two years ago at a Wal-Mart in Atlanta, where Studdard was signing CDs. Studdard reportedly followed McCants into the toy aisle and asked for her phone number. Although Studdard may have gotten lucky in the love department, his music career has not been successful.
“For Surata to stand by me even though my career is in the tank is a testament to our love. She is a one of a kind woman, and if I have to keep singing national anthem's forever to pay the bills, I'll do it to make her happy,” said Studdard.
Perhaps the new Mrs. Studdard thought her husband would turn out to be rich and famous.
