Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Guy Ritchie, best known for his work on crime capers, is set to re-imagine Sherlock Holmes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British filmmaker has signed on to write and direct a movie for Warner Bros. about the fictional super sleuth.
The project will be an adaptation of co-producer Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book about Holmes, which reworks the character as less stuffy and more adventurous than previous incarnations, says THR.
The pipe-smoking investigator has been the subject of numerous theatrical and film adaptations since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first introduced him to readers in 1887.
Ritchie's film is expected to hit theatres in 2010.
Meanwhile, fans of the filmmaker, whose previous credits include "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch," can catch his newest flick "RocknRolla" in theatres this October.
