(andPOP) - Although the film has not yet been released, Mike Myers’ new film, “The Love Guru” is already getting negative press.

Hindu groups in North America and India claim that the film is offensive to the Hindu faith.

In the film, Myers’ plays a spiritual leader educated in India who returns to North America to find fortune and fame in the self-help business.

In the film he attempts to salvage the marriage of a Toronto Maple Leafs player, played by Justin Timberlake

Some Hindus in India are asking that the film be banned while Hindu groups in North America are trying to block the films release.

Rumours are circulating that Paramount Pictures, nervous about the bad press, will screen the film for Hindu leaders before it is released.

The film hits theatres June 20th.
