Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - The nominees for the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards were announced Wednesday, and pop-punkers Hedley lead the way with six nominations.
The Abbotsford, B.C., band received nods for their videos "She's So Sorry" and "For The Nights I Can't Remember," with the latter clip scoring a nomination for Best Video. It will go up against Belly's "Ridin' (f. Mario Winans)," Feist's "1234," illScarlett's "Nothing Special" and Simple Plan's "When I'm Gone."
As previously reported, Hedley is also up for a People's Choice Award for Favourite Canadian Group.
Following Hedley with five nods each are Belly and illScarlett, who are also nominated in the People's Choice categories.
Other multiple nominees include Simple Plan, Feist, Bedouin Soundclash, City and Colour, Sam Roberts, Classified and international artists Kanye West and Rihanna.
The 19th annual MMVAs will take place June 15 in downtown Toronto. A red carpet special is slated to air at 8 p.m., followed by the awards show at 9 p.m.
Performers for the gala, which in the past have included Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and The Killers, will be announced next week.
