Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Turns out, “American Idol” is not as live as it claims to be.
During a radio interview on Wednesday, Idol judge Paula Abdul admitted that she and judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell watch performers during dress rehearsals two hours before the show is broadcast live.
During these rehearsals the judges take notes which gives them an idea of what comments to make during the live show.
On Tuesday’s episode of “American Idol”, Abdul accidentally critiqued a performance that hadn’t yet happened. When fellow judge, Randy Jackson, brought the error to her attention, Abdul explained that she’d gotten her notes mixed up.
Critics are questioning the shows credibility and whether the judges comments are scripted by producers.
A producer for the show denied the claim in a written statement saying, “The judges have always acknowledged they occasionally watch rehearsals, but in the end they only comment on what happens in the live show.”
She added that she does not believe the shows credibility has been compromised and that ultimately viewers determine the outcome of the show.
